We are family-owned and operated; our technicians are certified and trained to take care of all your garage door needs; and we service all brands and models of residential garage doors and openers. Also services Licking, Logan, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Mount Vernon, Muskingum, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, Union, Washington Court House & Zanesville.
We have gone back and forth with this company for over a year. We paid to have everything installed by O’Brien and there is an issue with everything they installed. The door (if it opens or closes) is grinding against the frame of the house. They blamed the manufacturer and had replacement parts sent out but it is still not working after a new install.

RUN- don’t walk away from these people. Absolutely unreal, god awful experience. I made an appointment for Thursday 12/21 10-12 PM. After being presented with options for standard size garage door openers, I picked the nicest of the three. The technician shows up at 11:40, a little late but okay. I’ve worked all kinds of roles and I get it. About 10 minutes later, the tech knocks on the door, and tells me the supply house gave him the wrong part. These things happen- I’ve lived it. Again, no big deal. He launches into a diatribe about how nylon rollers and a new spring would really make the best use of effort as mine are end of life. Awesome! Great- I’m in. Let’s do it I say. This literally doubles the price, and I’m fine with that. Let’s get it done. Another run to supply house anyway- $1,700 for the best, a lot but sure. Nice enough guy, works long days- I’ve been there. My day is shot. Says we’ll meet again next day, Friday, 3 days before Christmas now. 3-6 PM. Cool- I’m in! Next day comes and goes- at the end of the window, I get a call from the lady at the office- a job ran long and they can come later, or first thing in the morning. Once again- I’ve lived it! A little irked because I’ve moved all my plans around, waited around for now a total of 7 hours, but man- have I ever been there! No problem whatsoever. Tomorrow it is, and no need to rush, 9 AM so the guy has some extra time- no need to run yourself into the ground. Up early, this time I don’t bother getting the cars out of the garage and clearing the space, as I have the first two days as Im a little skeptical, and have two days sunk into this trying to be the easiest job of the day. 9AM-noon is the window. 9AM comes and goes, 10 AM comes and goes- I’m literally the first job of the day. The parts are standard size, completely off the shelf equipment I have seen at Menards for $200, and the remaining equipment they literally sold the need for to me. Maybe the supply house is backed up. I just got off the phone with the scheduler, who at no interval ever has communicated to me what’s going on at 11AM. I have been ***ked around for three solid days by these people and I’m done. In this time I could have done the job myself or found 6 qualified people who would do the work, for a fraction of the $1700 I was happy to pay. Understanding, patient, and a small business owner myself- I get it. To a point. At no point did the scheduler make any apology, offer any discount or concession- for what at this point should be an entirely free service. I can’t imagine who they pay to write these reviews or what incentive they give em- because this place is bottom rung god awful, and I don’t say that lightly. A multistate outfit out of Texas with franchises is not a small, family owned business, and near as I can tell that’s what I got.

He was okay. He knew what he was doing. They seem to be very, very busy and they advertise 24 hour service. They said they would call me when they were supposed to come out. I get a call from a unanimous caller and I didn't answer. It just seemed like he was awful busy. They said he would be out within a 2 hour period. Then they said they would call me before, but the 2 hour period is kind of long and then they didn't get to come at all. They came the next day. I asked him if he was all set for the weekend and he said, "No, I've got 2 more calls to make." So, they are busy and I can understand that. I don't think they paid enough attention. I was waiting for the man and he never did come and they didn't get a hold of me. The pricing was okay. That's about the going rate for anybody to come out who does anything for you.
Description of Work: I had something wrong with my garage door. They sent someone out. I told him what happened. Something fell down from the top of my garage and I closed the door. It threw the garage door off the rails. He said, "I appreciate that. I'll give you the lower rate because I know it won't take long to fix it."

They seem to be okay. He wasn't a guy who knew too much about garage doors. He was a guy who tightened bolts. Other than that, the guys were good.

We were promised that the serviceman would come out that Monday between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. The company pre-called at 9:30 to tell us he was on his way. Serviceman was polite, on time, professional. He found the cracked hinge, and told us that one of the opener motors would soon need replaced, partly because of its age, and partly because it would not respond to limiter adjustments. We knew it would soon need replaced, because it sometimes did not respond to the remote control (the battery was good). He indicated the rollers were wearing and soon need replaced too. Est. cost to be $90 for each door.
Description of Work: Serviceman came out and did a tune-up on our two garage doors. Cost: $74.25 for two doors (we had a company coupon). It included spring and chain alignment and adjustments, hardware check, and lubricating rollers. He discovered one roller hinge was cracked, so we allowed him to replace it. Replacement cost: $15.

Description of Work: Replaced 2 garage doors and openers. Best price from 3 other companies that I requested quotes from. Friendly responsive staff though there was miscommunication within the company. Small errors were made during install that required more time and an extra visit to address. I'm very happy with the product and would recommend O'Brien.

Andrew was terrific, he originally just came to do a tune-up for the door, but needed to replace the springs as well. After agreeing to match the price that we saw for that service, he was efficient and then recommended additional service that will be needed in the future, for which we will definitely call him.

My door was not opening and there was a lot of noise when it tried to open. This went very well, I called them early this morning and they were there in less than half an hour. They took time to explain what they were doing and why and gave me info on additional service and how that would help me. They were very polite, efficient and cleaned up after themselves and I would highly recommend them to anyone. They are a small company but did an expert job.

Description of Work: Made sure the door operating mechanism was working properly. Tightened the springs so the door would glide smoothly and replaced rollers with new ones, as the old ones were very worn (my request). Works great and safety is assured.

Called this company and asked them when they could have someone out to replace the garage door spring at my house. The lady said they could be out same day and that the cost would be $150 for labor and starting at $45 for parts. The guy got to the house and said he didn't have the parts needed to do the job and that the actual price would be well over $300.

Response from O’Brien Garage Doors - Columbus
My records indicate that you needed a torsion conversion. When you requested service via phone you asked for the cost of a 1 spring change out which is what you were quoted; we also offered a price match deal to you for that service. That is not an uncommon repair. However, a complete conversion is quite a bit more extensive than just replacing a spring. A conversion means that you would need drums, cables, a torsion bar, bearing plates, and the spring replaced. Because what you requested is not the same as what you needed our technician left at no charge to you. We gave you an estimate. As stated on the phone we have a 5% price guarantee. If you have found a lower quote for the conversion we would be happy to beat the price for you.
