I used her three times moving into a new house and she was real helpful. She charges $60.00 an hour and she stayed for three hours each time. I had no complaints about it. She is very high energy, very efficient, very conscientious, very helpful. Punctuality, she was there. $60.00 an hour for what she did is very reasonable. She helped me move into our new home. She very efficiently removed clothes from boxes to whatever wardrobe. She organized my walk in closet for which I am forever grateful. The next time she helped me organize two bedrooms, laundry room, the third time she helped me do the garage. I really appreciated her help because I have a bad back. I could have done some but I could not have done all that she did.

Ellen, is phenomenal! With the urgency we needed, she scheduled to pack up our basement and garage on a Sunday. This was not an easy job, dusty and many large, heavy items. She was prompt and efficient, packing and moving a multitude of items from furniture to delicate glassware. She packed what we kept, transported loads to charitable organizations and bagged up items for trash pickup. She returned on a Monday, and although I was unable to be present she finished up the job before I returned home. I am so glad I hired her, and will be hiring her to help me unpack and organize our new home!
Description of Work: We were on a tight deadline to prepare our house for sale. We needed the garage and basement to be cleared as soon as possible. The rest of the house could be cleared at a later time.

I can't say enough about how much easier she made the process of going through those stacks of items. She was very professional, worked very quickly, and knew what to do with everything (where to donate certain items, what we should throw away, and had ideas about what we could do with everything we didn't want to keep). I would highly recommend Ellen, our experience with her helping us was very positive. She's also very nice - she made the experience as good as it could be!
Description of Work: After the deaths of several family members over the last several years, our garage was completely full of boxes and bags of 'stuff' that we hadn't been able to get rid of. In desperation, I called Ellen to see if she could help us go through it.

Better than I expected! I'm an awful procrastinator and had been hesitant to have anyone see how badly I'd let things pile up! But Ellen put me at ease and helped me whittle down the pile(s), offering suggestions and gentle nudges about what needed to be kept and what could be shredded or thrown away. In another room I also had a large stack of papers that I hadn't gotten around to shredding. I'd have probably worn out the motor of my shredder! Ellen kindly took a couple big bags of papers to a shredding service for me!! Now I only need to keep up with filing and shredding! Already scheduled Ellen to come back in October.

I don't get a lot of company so my guest room became a catch-all for anything and everything. It was so bad that for months I had kept the door closed all the time. Ellen was here from 1-4pm and whipped that room back into a guest room I am now proud of and can leave the door open. She's wonderful, very friendly and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. She had me sit in a chair as she went through "my stuff" and all I had to do was decide whether I wanted to keep (and where I wanted it), donate, recycle or throw it away. She had tote bags and pop-up bins for sorting the donations and recyclables~~and took them with her!! I was very impressed with her expertise and total objectivity. She didn't criticize or shame me for accumulating so much stuff and seemed genuinely happy to help me. I felt so relieved when it was all done, the closet organized (she even fixed the bi-fold closet door that had been off the track!), the bed made, the entire room presentable and usable again! I will definitely be hiring Ellen again and highly recommend her!

I am fortunate to have a small shed that my husband built years ago at the end of our back patio where I store all my Christmas "stuff" (except for candles and paper goods). I had too many plastic bins, tubs, boxes, etc. stacked at least 3 high (and of course what I wanted was on the bottom of the stack). I had previously used Organized by L/Ellen's services in March to declutter and organize my guest room with delightful results, and knew I wanted her to help me tackle the dreaded Christmas shed. The first thing Ellen had suggested was putting up shelving units which I'd never thought of (duh). Since she knew exactly which units would work best I had her go ahead and purchase them and bring with her for this second session. We first emptied the shed of all the bins and boxes, and brought them inside to go through. Again I basically just sat and decided for each item whether to keep, sell, donate or throw it away. She sorted and boxed related items together and then I'd label each box or bin. She assembled each wire shelving unit, 3 in all. Because the containers were different sizes, shapes and weights, it was like working a puzzle to arrange them to best utilize the space on each shelf and distribute the weight appropriately (I never would have thought of that). She recommended that I take photos of each shelf and make a diagram so when I removed more than one bin or box, I'd know to return each one to it's rightful spot in order to maintain the proper distribution. I highly recommend Ellen and Organized by L to anyone needing decluttering, downsizing, and organizing assistance. I plan on using her again in the next few months as I have more rooms to conquer. I've been told it takes a strong person to ask for help. I didn't realize how depressing clutter and disorganization can be until I personally experienced how uplifting the opposite can be. Decluttering and getting organized makes me feel good, and gives me such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment even it takes a professional who did the majority of the work! Ellen is a gem and worth the cost! In fact, I'm worth it!

Ellen was terrific to work with. I was especially impressed by her punctuality. If she said she was going to be here at 1 p.m., she pulled up in front of our house at 12:59 p.m. I had so much clutter to deal with that I hired her for two 4-hour sessions. She is energetic, has many helpful suggestions, and clearly knows her business. We worked beautifully together because (a) I'm not afraid to throw anything away and (b) she never stops, but keeps plowing through to the end. If she was making any judgments about me and my clutter, I certainly saw no evidence of it. She completely followed my lead without question. None of my decisions to keep, sell, or donate were questioned. I really appreciated that.

I have never unpacked my move boxes from 5 years ago and finally gave up, Ellen came in and immediately got to work and accomplished more in 4 hours than I accomplished in 5 years.

"As we were getting our home ready to sell, my Aunt, who is a professional home stager, made a list of things we needed to do. Much of this entailed making a phone call for a painter, electrician etc. One phone call that I made was to Organized by L for Professional Organizing services. Like everyone else, we had too much stuff that I needed to process through. I couldn?t imagine doing that, as well as all the other things to prepare the house and keeping up with my full-time job. Ellen came over and proceeded to pre-sort things in our ?dumping ground? extra bedroom. I was amazed at how quickly she went through the piles which allowed me to make quick decisions on the items we were no longer using. As Ellen mentioned to me that day, no sense in moving things we no longer needed and to add to the efficiency, "why touch something twice" (pack & move) only to discard later. Ellen worked like a whirlwind and even brought in the strong arms to move some of the heavier items that needed cleared out on day one. She came back the next day with a solid attack plan for the remaining rooms and before I knew it, the house was pre-staged. My Aunt came the next day to stage the home and we got rave reviews from the realtors. The house looked so great we got a full price offer in one day! Calling Ellen for the pre-move/pre-staging organizing was the best decision and investment we made to get the house prepared and listed quickly. My home office and workbench/work area have become progressively more disorganized and full of...junk...since I became disabled 4 years ago. I've been unable to clean it up myself and it got to the point where Something Needed To Be Done. So I perused The List and decided to try Organized By L first. At the first appointment Ellen asked to-the-point questions about what I wanted and once she understood my goals dove right in. Since my goals were kind of vague she also helped clarify my thoughts. Ellen also assured me that she'd seen worse--my office looked like it'd been hit by a tornado. She worked quickly and efficiently while I sat in a chair & made decisions. We generated a lot of trash and she took usable items with her to be donated. It took 2 appointments to get to the point where I could finish my office myself. My hobby workbench--art projects, electronics, R/C cars, mechanical and robotics projects--I thought would be more difficult because of the variety of machine parts, electronic parts, misc doodads, and unidentifiable stuff. Again, I sat in a chair and sorted components into categories while Ellen efficiently burrowed through the piles of junk. Two hours later my workbench became usable again. We have more work to go, but thanks to Ellen's energy, speed, and efficiency the tasks have taken much less time than I originally anticipated. Part of my problem was deciding how to physically organize things; Ellen was able to help me define parameters and suggest solutions even where she wasn't familiar with what she was looking at, like machine parts and specialty tools. Overall I am happy with the results (so far, we're not done yet) and the time spent--which, again, is less than I originally estimated. I also have to add that I haven't been the easiest client to work with. Medical considerations required that I cancel a couple appointments at the last moment, and I also missed one without prior notice. If that tried Ellen's patience she has given no indication--her attitude remains professional and upbeat. She has also been very helpful and considerate where my physical constraints are concerned. If I need help in the future after the current project is complete, she'll be the person I call.

Things went fabulous! Working with this provider has been wonderful. Today we tackled the side of our basement used for crafts and sitting to visit and or watch TV etc.. First we got rid of all the excess furniture (she helped me take some items apart to allow for easier removal from the basement) and staged it to be 1) sold, 2) donated, 3) recycled or trashed. Next we went through many many boxes and a trunk of craft items (picture frames, sewing, flowers etc) and staged these items as above. Next we were ready to rearrange what was left to make the room functional again which involved moving tall metal storage shelves and re-constructing a large L shaped desk to use for holding a sewing machine and a computer. She was great to work with measuring everything and talking through the placement of items in a way which allowed good workflow in the room. Let me tell you she is very "mechanical" and handy when it comes to constructing and deconstructing items to get them where you want (or need) them to go. She was extremely patient assisting me with deciding which items to keep and which items really needed to go. I really appreciate the fact that she believes in recycling or re-purposing items. I know things aren't just going in the trash. She will help my items find a new home through donation or make sure the components will be recycled, all of which makes it easier to let some things go. She helped to re-organize and label (as needed) the remaining items (that made the cut!) so they could be seen more easily and would be more accessible. All throughout this process she helped to clean up the cobwebs and make things pretty again. I truly felt invigorated when this stage was done. Lastly we brought my elderly Mom in to see the progress, as well as to go through some of her treasures which had been boxed up for 15+ years. We went through about 10 boxes of her "treasures". This provider worked very patiently with my elderly mother to look at each item and decide which items could be 1) sold, 2) given to family, 3) donated or recycled. She helped her decide if items she wanted to save were really worth keeping, or if it was time for them to find new life in another place. For once I didn't have to feel like the "bad gal" working with my parent to de-clutter a lifetime of possessions (and their memories). The provider was helping my parent through the decision making in a very objective and diplomatic way. This provider was such a hard and (smart) worker as she very diligently packed, staged and transported (!) everything out of the basement to either be taken away or placed in the trash, which allowed me to focus my time and energy on the project at hand. Working with this provider has been a game changer for me as I try to clean out, as well as clean up, a 50 year old basement that has been collecting overflow from all over the house for 15+ years. She has been a true partner since my Mom is unable to do the heavy lifting and decision making she once could do. While it was initially hard to think about paying someone to help with this project (and others in my home), I feel now that it is money very well spent. I feel like I am getting my home back and I have saved so much time I would have spent attempting to accomplish this on my own, which I can now spend enjoying the space with my Mom. My Mom is relieved that I have help and that her home is getting cleaned up. Everyone wins thanks to the guidance and hard work of this provider!
