Northern Appraisal Services went through each piece with me and got it all appraised in a couple of hours. I was very pleased.

Very fast, almost too fast. He checked each piece and he did it right then and there in front of me. There was a lot of jewelry. It was mostly costume jewelry, but needed appraisals for attorney. He was friendly and easy to work with. I feel it was expensive, but I have nothing to compare with, because I have never had a jewelry appraisal before. So, I am not sure if it was fair or not. I would hire him again.

It was a great experience. Mitchell was friendly & explained what he was going to do. He made me a copy & one to take to my insurance company. I learned a lot about jewelry & would certainly use him again.

Wow! Mitch is great and really knows his stuff. Mitch is a self described gem n*** - He's the type of guy you want doing your jewelry appraisal work. Mitch is extremely knowledgeable about diamonds and other gemstones. He explained exactly what he was doing and I felt confident in his work.

Beautifully. Mitch was responsive to my call and made an appointment with me the same week. When I needed to move the time he was accommodating. During the 2 1/2 hours I was in the office, Mitch interacted with me professionally about my pieces. He asked answered my questions and gave advise on pieces I might not want to spend the time/$ on a full appraisal with. He showed a genuine interest in and love for the work he was doing, without prying. At the end I have 2 copies of printed, signed documents on the appraisals. I requested an electronic copy as well, which he gladly sent. The price seems like a lot to pay, but i have peace of mind now that this is done.

Felt comfortable leaving jewelry for several hours while appraisal being done. Very professional. Had a diamond engagement ring appraised previously at a large local retail jewelry store, and later realized he had also done that appraisal. With the increase in metals and precious stones, worth the cost for insurance purposes.

Service provider was very friendly, honest, up front. Evaluated our late mothers jewelry collection, We had no idea what we had, which wasn't much. Service provider made recommendations and gave options on where to take it if we decided to sell

It went very well. Mr. Dustin photographed the pieces and examined them thoroughly, giving us his replacement value estimates for insurance purposes. He also looked at several additional pieces and gave us informal estimates of their value as well at no extra charge. Within about a week we received the formal statement presented very professionally with full color photos of each piece, "maps" of the large diamonds, and detailed narrative descriptions of the pieces in a nice binder with copies of everything for my files. Mr. Dustin was very qualified, knowledgeable and very pleasant and interesting to talk to. He has a fine reputation and I would definitely recommend him.

MItch was great - professional, easy to talk to, thorough and honest (I had a previous replacement cost appraisal on one of the 3 insurance items and he was within 1% of the same valuation). If you need jewelry appraised for any purpose, I would highly recommend Northern Appraisal Services.

Exceeded my expectations - which they described in detail over the telephone when I originally made the appointment. They provided advice in case I was interested in remounting or disposing of the jewelry - including values ranges to expect based on how the the jewelry might be sold - private sale, retail, wholesale.

What a great experience! I had gone with a friend with his necklace to have a diamond in the necklace appraised. My friend was interested in selling the diamond and I was interested in buying it and we didn't know where to begin in terms of a price. Mitch very thoroughly examined the diamond, told us about the cut (an unusual antique cut called Old Miner's Cut), gave his appraisal of its size (carat), color, clarity & cut. He then studied what the current resale price would be for the stone, the price we wanted to know. I later bought the stone from my friend at the appraised price and had it set in a ring. Later I returned to Northern Appraisal to have Mitch further evaluate the diamond (it was easier to see outside of the necklace) and to appraise it for insurance purposes. He created and printed a thorough appraisal complete with photos, an illustration of the diamond, a description of the (antique) ring and of its quality, etc. and then appraised its insurance/replacement value, i.e. what it would cost to buy a diamond ring like this at the retail level. It more than met the requirements of my insurance agent and would help prove its value if I ever wanted to sell the ring. (God willing, that day will never come!!!) Mitch has great professional credentials from GIA, AGS, etc as a jewelry appraiser and is also very knowledgeable about antique jewelry. Most jewelers are NOT professionals at appraising jewelry even if they're great jewelers. And even most expert appraisers of antiques, etc. are NOT experts at appraising jewelry, especially antique or unusual jewelry. While I am not a true expert in jewelry, I know quite a bit about it as amateurs go and I know enough to realize that Mitch really does "know his stuff" as an appraiser of jewelry and of antique jewelry in particular. If you have a piece that is or that you think may be valuable, do yourself a favor: Pay a little bit of extra to have it properly appraised by an expert. You could save yourself a lot of money by not selling it too cheaply on one hand, or by paying too much for a piece on the other. I couldn't think of a better place to take your piece for an appraisal than to Northern Appraisal Services.

Mitch and Gina inventoried the jewelry while I waited and gave me a receipt. They told me approximately when the appraisals would be finished, and called later in the afternoon to confirm they were on schedule. Mitch answered all my questions and the appraisals are excellent. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I called and she called me back the same day. A week later I went to their office and she did the appraisals on the spot as I watched, answering questions as she went along. Very professional and thorough.

They got back to me very quickly to schedule an appointment. Very friendly. The visit took about 30 minutes. He was very thorough... pictures, looked at it under special lights, other tests. At the end he explained the paper work and asked if I had any questions. I would definitely use them again.

This was a wonderful experience. They work by appointment only and do all the appraisal as you watch. I was provided with 2 copies of the report, one for the insurance company and 1 for my records. This included a significant amount of detail about the jewelry item (much more than I had received in prior appraisals elsewhere as well as a photo of the item. Mitchell has over 25 years in the jewelry business with 20 of them as an appraiser. I felt very comfortable with the process and the resulting appraisal.

Mitch and Gina are very knowledgeable in all types of jewelry, whether it be fine or costume. They were able to describe in full exactly what I had. And, they enjoy what they do. They compliment each other nicely. It really was a fun experience. They cleaned a couple of pieces without asking. A piece was left in the cleaner and Gina dropped it off at my home. Terrific.

Both Mitch and Gina are very helpful. They were able to fit me in at the last minute. Mitch provided a thorough examination of the piece and provided much insightful information about the value and selling of this particular ring. Provided a certificate of authenticity as well as digital photos. I would use them again and refer them to others.

Mitch was ready to work with me at my scheduled appointment time. He charged me an hourly rate rather than per piece which saved me a lot of money. He worked quickly, but did a very thorough job and answered any questions that I had about my jewelry. At the end, I received two copies of the final reports. Each page showed a picture of the piece as well as a detailed description and replacement value. I learned quite a bit about my pieces and now have required paperwork for insurance purposes. Overall, a very positive experience.
