We use Nicholson Builders because we know that we will have absolutely NO hassles, no problems, no irritations and everything will be finished properly. They take care of permits, give us sound advice on material choices and send workers we like to have around our house. Excellent service every single time. Nicholson Builders are worth their fee every single time.

Bryan came out and spent alot of time assessing the damaged wood and explaining what would need to be done to fix it. We accepted the proposal and they sent a carpenter out within a few days. The carpenter was nice and explained what he was doing and answered all of our questions. He did a nice job and we were happy. A few days later Bryan sent an email to make sure we were happy and asked that we contact him if we had any other questions. Very professional. I would definitely recommend them.

They took their shoes off when they came into our home. They have a team and they give you a schedule of what to expect. If you have a questions they get right back to you. They treat you with respect. They do quality work.

Their designer came out and helped us pick tile, colors, patters, etc. Great lady. We also went to their office to look at other tiles. They did a full design and sketch of the built-in dresser. Both projects went better than expected. Those guys didn't get a drop of anything on anything - true professionals. They covered stuff I never would have thought a contractor would take the time to cover. And then when they were gone for the day....ALL was back to normal. We just assumed we'd not be using the kitchen for a few days and maybe not even the master while it was going on -- we lived just like they were not there. The end result was outstanding and beyond our expectations. We always say we got our money's worth because they truly go the extra mile. This build in dresser they did was long - went from one wall to the other in the master - Bill Nicholson got with their cabinet maker to see if they could do one solid top instead of two pieces and have a seam in the middle. I remember Bill asking me, "if I can get it in one piece for the same price, would that be okay?" Give me something better and not charge me for it?! WELL YEA. How often do you hear that from ANY company. And like any contractor, they warned me that this and that might happen as they installed things - none of that happened and if it did, they fixed it or cleaned it up before I knew about it - I never saw as much as one smudge. On our backslash, it had this little boarder of 2" wide tile. The supplier sent them ones that were not glazed on the edges. And this is a tumbled, earthy, rough tile anyway so it may not have mattered. Chuck, the great site guy, told me what happened and I told him to put it up anyway. He said, "no way - wouldn't be the quality your expecting." And he's right. I'd probably been unhappy with it if they had put it up. So they even saved me from myself. : ) I guarantee you will have no issues, be treated like a king/queen, have your home treated like their own, and get an outstanding product. I didn't have to worry or watch over them for a second. Wish I had a bag of money so I could give them ten more projects.

Initially the replacement toe kick was fabricated incorrectly but the company re-worked it at their cost and with minimal delay. The installation looks great!

Bryan was friendly, prompt, and courteous. He gave me an estimate based on an on-site assessment. He had to make the door weather tight and attractive. He did a great job. No need for a new door now.

From the very beginning of the renovation, all work undertaken was done with the utmost professionalism and integrity. The Sales Manager, Brian, made certain at the outset that I understood the steps and costs involved, and thereafter oversaw the entire project; the designer, Amy, was wonderfully creative in producing a functional and attractive design; and the Site Manager, Jeff, was attentive to every detail of the work as it proceeded and was always available for questions and suggestions. Those who worked with him--Britt, Adam, Tony, and several others too numerous to mention--were all highly skilled in their jobs, and, in addition, very pleasant to have around: friendly, polite, and unfailingly punctual. All the people at Nicholson Builders were, as others have said, among the very best in the business and a joy to work with. I would gladly hire them again.

It was quite extensive work. We would not use them again in the future.

Master design, was imaginative and detailed, quality and workmanship was extraordinary. Workers, were friendly, courteous, responsive and on time.

I would use them again. Overall, I would give them an A. They were very efficient. It didn't take a long time to get the work done.

Bryan Copley coordinated the work for Nicholson with the electrician and other services. He called me to discuss each step of the work since I was not at home during the process. He researched many of the things he did and gave me options which I appreciated. He was very thorough, neat, efficient, and unruffled when I changed my mind. I enjoyed working with Bryan and will have him replace my front and back doors that are very old (maybe 50 years old) and are coming apart. Bryan is very competent, intelligent, experienced and a special treat to work with.

They were very professional and timely. They also did what they said what they would do.

Pro: Nicholson Builders had done projects for neighbors so we contacted them and another company when we decided to expand first floor living space and bathroom to accommodate health-related needs. We liked their overall idea, and contracted for a detailed design (cost: $2000--applied to project) and signed contract in spring. Project began in May and completed in August. The project manager and workers were great to work with--kept us informed of work schedule and stuck to it, kept disruption as minimal as possible, and were totally reliable. I would recommend Nicholson Builders without hesitation. Con: There really were none. Very pleased with project results.

Great experience in all aspects of the job.

The job went very well. They are relentless on customer satisfaction so they made sure that everything was done as well as it could be. If there was anything below their standard they worked very, very hard to improve it. They are a design/build firm that we would highly recommend evaluating for their design services as well as building. They were kind of expensive but they delivered on it and they delivered full value. The project lasted longer than it should have.

They are not cheap but we never feel that we paid too much; when the work is done it is done forever. If you ever do have to have them come back out they come immediately and take care of it. They like everything to be absolutely perfect and the truth is that I would trust them to do anything; I will have them in my house anytime and have never met one of them that were not an upstanding, reasonable and pleasant person to have around. The only thing is that because they are so good they are busy; so you might have to wait a bit to get your work done. I will use them again in the future.

After seeing one of Nicholson's projects in a recent tour of remodeled homes, talking in person to current customers, and reading reviews on Angie's List, I was very excited to discuss my own project with someone from the company. I first contacted the company on 9/15/11. It was late in the day, so I left a message with the person who answered. He said someone would get back to me the next day. Someone did call the next day. She asked me a few questions and said someone would be in touch. I waited until the following Wednesday (9/21/11) until I called again. I spoke with John Nicholson. He claimed he was "just getting ready to call me". We discussed my project and my dissatisfaction with some other firms I have spoken with. He assured me he would treat my project with as much importance as large commercial projects that he also works on. He could not meet me, however, until 10/3/11. I was disappointed to have to wait another couple of weeks, but I understood that they were busy, as are most firms with such solid reputations. On 10/3/11, I hurried back from an unexpected trip out of town as my father had been hospitalized. I decided to keep the meeting with John when I knew my father was OK - I knew that it might be difficult to reschedule. I got home just in time for our meeting. John, however, did not show up. He did not call, e-mail - nothing. I tried to call the office, but no answer, so I left him a voicemail and an e-mail (he did not give me his cell phone number). The next day, I received both an e-mail and a voicemail from John. He explained he had a big structural problem on another job so he spent the whole day there. He did not make it back into the office to check his calendar, which is why he did not see our meeting on his calendar (I do not know why he doesn't have a smart phone). He offered to make himself available on the weekend or Thursday evening of that week. I have never had a contractor not show up, but I decided to give the company another chance given all of the positive feedback that I had received. We were going out of town that weekend, however, so the meeting would have to be Thursday evening. My husband and I both work late, so we could not meet until 6:30. I thought that since he stood us up the first time and we still wanted to meet, he would do everything he could to meet when it was most convenient for us. On the contrary, however, he proceeded to tell us that 6:30 was too late and it had to be 5:00 or the following week. As I was already very frustrated and I had not yet given this company a dime, I told him his services were no longer necessary. He followed up with another apology and explained the missed appointment was due to the unprecedented volumes of work they are currently experiencing. He also encouraged me to contact them in the future if things don't work out with another contractor, which I won't be doing.

Overall, it went excellent. I would highly recommend them!

Careful analysis of the problem. Fair pricing. Quality, clean work.

Nicholson did a great job of designing the new kitchen, and then the construction process was coordinated very well - the quality of the work is excellent and their people are top-notch.

The bathroom is beautiful, but it cost us a lot of money. We spent $35000 for the job. They were very thorough. We can’t get people to work out here. They were responsive. We used them because of the economy. So, they were willing to do the job because of the economy. We are pretty far away, but they came out to do it. They would be the last resort if we have to use them again just because of the expense. We did have an issue with the bathroom and they followed up and corrected it immediately.

From the beginning, it was clear to us that Nicholson Builders was professional, detail-oriented, and well organized. Our initial meeting yielded a good vision of the project, as well as a very close estimate of the cost and time frame. Based on this we paid a design retainer, out of which we received an itemized estimate and detailed drawings. Bill Nicholson sat down with us to go over it and answer any questions that we had. When we decided to use this company for the project, we were assigned a project manager to coordinate all of the aspects of the work. In addition to the over all time frame for the project, we got weekly emails, detailing the work planned on each day the week. We always felt well-informed about the project, and Nicholson was quick to respond to any questions we had. They also worked with us on order changes throughout the project (for example, when we decided we wanted custom cabinetry in the bathroom) and gave written quotes for the proposed changes, that we were given time to consider before signing. They also gave us accurate estimates of the additional completion time that order changes would add. We felt that everyone who worked on the project was good at what they did. We were especially pleased with the quality of the woodwork because it's something that is easier to judge as a layman, but all of the other specialized work (ex - electrical and plumbing) seemed to go very well. The city inspections were all passed the first time, without any problems. After the project was completed, we did a full walk-through to look for any problems. Since then, we have had a couple of questions, and Nicholson responded promptly to those. We had an excellent experience working with Nicholson Builders, and can't imagine using anyone else for complex projects in the future. I strongly recommend them.

They were very professional from the beginning to the end. Once I agreed to the work plans, we did a complete walk through of everything that would be done. We identified one glitch that was quickly resolved. They sent me a weekly plan that was followed very closely, so I always knew what to expect. They cleaned up every day. when the project was done, we did another walk through to make sure I was completely satisfied -- and I was. I will hire them again in a year or so when I am ready to do the rest of the house.
