Really enjoyed working with Dave at Nelson Roofing. He answered all my questions and was very accommodating to my needs and concerns. Will definitely suggest them for your gutter needs, we'll be following up with them for a roofing project in the future.

Insurance helped pay for the new roof because there was storm damage and they couldn't match the old shingles. While taking off the old shingles, the roofers found that the underlying layer of plywood was installed going the wrong way on the roof of the small addition to our kitchen. We had them fix the problem (which was the part we paid for). Later on, my son said something to me like, "Hey, mom, you know about the hole in the side of our house, don't you?" Turns out that at some point, probably before this roofing job, a hole developed just under the edge of the ridge of the roof, maybe because there had been some supports added in our basement that jacked things up just a little higher than they should have been. Anyway, we called Nelson roofing and they sent someone out to look in short order. They came up with a custom patch for the hole and even waited to put it up until the baby birds that were in the nest in the hole fledged. (By the way, this is the third roof that has been on our house that I know about. Nelson did all of them, including one before we owned the house. One of the roofers remembered working on it. That was more than thirty years ago.)

The June 29, 2012 derecho wreaked havoc on our entire neighborhood. We'd had numerous weather run-ins over the six or so years we've been at our house. I called Nelson Roofing in 2007 to fix a leak we had in our roof over the front door. Dave Nelson explained what had probably caused the leak and promptly fixed it for a very reasonable cost. In 2008, the improbable Hurricane Ike made its way to Ohio. I remember our new cat hid in the TV console the whole day the wind blew. We lost numerous shingles and one of the "whirlybird" fans from the roof. Dave came and fixed several shingles and the missing whirlybird on the roof. Again, at a very reasonable cost. After the June derecho, we could no longer make minor fixes to the roof. It needed to be replaced. The power was out for three days. I kept calling Nelson Roofing but noone would answer the phone. Dave's office is over on Indianola Ave and so I surmised after several tries that his power was out and his answering machine or phone not working. I could have called any of the multitude of roofers in town, but Dave has never let us down, so we waited. When the power came one, I was finally able to leave a message. Dave came over that afternoon and agreed that our aged and weathered roof would need to be replaced. He made some emergency repairs to the roof so we wouldn't have any leakage. Over the next few weeks, Dave left several samples of shingles for us to look at. We did some research of our own and in the end, opted for the Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Black shingles. Dave also helped us wrangle the insurance paperwork with our agent. That was very helpful and made that part of the process very low stress. Dave's team started work and with the exception of one day of rain, had the job finished in about three days. He replaced a few boards which had rotted and replaced the flashing around the chimney. All the metal parts were painted black to match the roof. Dave improved the venting in our attic and installed a very quiet roof exhaust fan. The quality is exceptional. We marvel at our beautiful roof every day. We've had nothing but great experiences with Dave Nelson and his company. We're looking to Dave to do our window replacement at some point in the future.

They are very professional, good price, and finished the work when they said they would.

I hired this company several years ago, and more recently my neighbors on either side have hired them, so this was the first and only company I called. I spoke with them a couple of times over the phone, to ask them to come out and then to discuss the work that would be required after they took a look at the roof. They cautioned me that the roofing material would not match because of the age of the roof (which was not a concern for me). They did a nice job, including fixing holes I was not aware of, because they were on a side of the roof that I cannot see. I would hire them again.

They did a good job. I liked their promptness and that they cleaned up well. They seemed to be competitive with the other quotes we got.

Great people to work with. The rof is great-57+years. My neighbor had told me about the guuter hanging away from the house. When they got to that side they said they found a problem(I already knew about it) The wood was bad behind the guter, had to be removed and replaced, and the guter rehung. it was a big job but they did it great, knew what to do and I haven't had a problem since. You'll be happy with their work.

Nelson Roofing were punctual.

There was nothing about them that I didn't like. They were great. The owner was also great to work with. The price was reasonable, and they were very prompt. He was easy to deal with.

After a windowstorm we had in March, Nelson Roofing came out and made some necessary repairs on our roof. Did a great job.

They had roofed our home 20 years ago, and we would definitely hire them the next time we needed roofing work done.

Spectacular service and a fair price.

It went very well. I did tell Nelson that I appreciated when a contractor returned my phone calls and communicated effectively about their work. I also told them I was a member of Angie's list. It seemed they did listen and called me every step of the way, from the time they were coming out, after they looked at the roof for an estimate, and after the work was done. I then got a follow-up call after the first rain fall to make sure there still was no leak and I was happy with the work. What service! The price I got was much cheaper than I've received years ago I had small roof repairs done by another company.

What a great company. They did such a great job with our first roof project (at substantially less than other companies were bidding) that we called them when the addition roof was leaking. Again, they did great work -- cleaned up well, finished in a timely manner. Gene (the owner) was also very clear in letting me know what work they would do, that price might increase if they found rotten wood, etc. I recommend them highly.

REALLY ENJOYED WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY. THE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES ANSWERED ALL QUESTIONS, AND KEPT TABS OF THE WORK CREW ON SITE. THIS COMPANY'S QUOTE WAS LOWER THAN OTHER COMPANIES, BUT I HAVE NO DOUBTS THEIR WORK WAS JUST AS GOOD, OR BETTER. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.

I WAS TOLD BY NELSON ROOFING THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT THE AREA AND DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG AND ESTIMATE COST. I CALLED AGAIN AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND WAS ALWAYS TOLD THEY WOULD GET TO IT WHEN THE WEATHER WAS RIGHT. FINALLY, I CALLED AND TOLD THEM (ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE) THAT I WOULD BE GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THE WORK. MY CALL WAS RETURNED WITH STRONG APOLOGIES AND THAT THE WEATHER WAS NEVER JUST RIGHT.

CALLED BACK W/IN 24 HOURS, WOULD BE OUT THE FOLLOWING WEEK, WHICH THEY WERE. THEY REPAIRED/REPLACED SHINGLES AS NEEDED. GENE FOLLOWED UP WITH A PHONE CALL TO TELL ME WHAT THE HAD DONE & THAT IF THE SIDE CONTINUED TO GET POUNDED, TO CONSIDER JUST REROOFING THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE ROOF.

SPOKE WITH OFFICE STAFF (VERY POLITE/COURTEOUS) ABOUT OBTAINING AN ESTIMATE, THEN RECEIVED A CALL FROM A SALES REP A DAY OR SO LATER (PROFESSIONAL ON PHONE). HE STATED HE WOULD COME OUT THAT WEEK AND LEAVE AN ESTIMATE ON THE PORCH, AND ALSO STATED NO ONE NEEDED TO BE HOME FOR THE ESTIMATE TO BE COMPLETED. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, A BUSINESS CARD FROM THIS COMPANY WAS LEFT ON MY DOOR, AFTER THE WORK HAD ALREADY BEEN SET UP WITH ANOTHER COMPANY (BUT NOT YET STARTED). I NEVER DID RECEIVE AN ESTIMATE OR FOLLOW-UP CALL.

I LEFT TWO MESSAGES AND DIDN'T HEAR BACK. I CALLED BACK A WEEK LATER AND THE PERSON THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE APOLOGIZED FOR NOT GETTING BACK TO ME. HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE COME OUT TO INSPECT THE HOUSE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. WE HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM SINCE. I HAD HEARD GOOD THINGS FROM THEM AND WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE, HOWEVER, WE RECEIVED NO FOLLOW THROUGH.

THEY HAD A VERY FAIR PRICE. THEY DID A GREAT JOB CAME OUT RIGHT AWAY AND DID A GOOD JOB OF CLEANING UP AFTERWARDS.

THEY INITIALLY INSTALLED OUR FIRST AND SECOND ROOFS ON HOUSE IN 1955. THIS TIME, THEY WERE SLOW GETTING TO THE JOB BUT DID GREAT WORK ONCE THEY GOT STARTED.

THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB. THE WORKERS CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY TO HELP FIX THE MEMBERS ROOF. THEY WERE VERY CLEAN AND DID A THOROUGH JOB.
