Our home warranty company sent Miller Raney plumbing to our home to fix a leak in the bathroom ceiling. Experience was overall horrible and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. The tech wore no shoe coverings and broke my Scentsy warmer and did not tell us (we saw after he left that he had cracked it in half and tried to put it back together). We had access to the repair needed through the attic, but he chose to cut a hole in the bathroom ceiling instead. Without telling us first. We only found out as he left and said “Sorry about the hole in the ceiling”. The company said they would not repair holes created as needed for access to a repair. They said that they only cut into the ceiling as an absolute last resort, so the tech must have had a good reason. But we had access through the attic, so this was not needed. When questioned, the tech said the reason it was “necessary” was because he was too big to fit into the attic access. He did not even look at the attic access once! Even so, the next logical step would be to get a different guy who could do the repair the proper way. Instead, he cut away the ceiling and left the dust and dirt all over my bathroom floor. We were left with a gaping hole in the ceiling that was our responsibility to fix solely because this guy figured he would be too big to get into the attic (without even looking at the attic!). I talked to many people at the company, including the owner, about how I felt that this was unfair. There was attic access that he chose not to consider, so now I have to pay who knows what to get my drywall fixed. It was entirely unnecessary damage! They never tried to understand or work with me, it was all “You can’t prove he didn’t try the attic. You can’t prove that he left a mess.” The company’s final response after that was “We have determined that we are no longer a part of this issue.” To top it all off, the leak came back not even a week later. Horrible in-home etiquette, horrible customer service, overall horrible experience!

They connected a gas line to an existing gas outlet in the garage about 2 feet from the outside wall. Drilled a hole in the garage wall, installed and sealed a pass through pipe. Connected this to the generator three feet away. This took three men 5 hours apiece. For this I was charged $999.50, $840 of which was for labor. i called Mr. Ranney and expressing my belief that these charges were out of line with the difficulty and amount of work performed. He refused to come out to my house to explain these charges and refused to adjust the bill.

I had this problem in the 3 years ago, so I know what had to be done. Sean was professional and on time. He was here for about 45-50 minutes. He brought in the large drain snake machine and was able to break up the blockage within second. The only issue was the price. $345 for about 50 minutes of work. The last time we had them come out 3 years ago. Back then they put a camera down the drain to see what was the issue (about $220) and $270 for the cleaning. Now that I know the problem, I will go to Home Depot and rent the machine for $60 for 4 hours.

Overall a positive experience. Setting up the appointment was a breeze but the plumber arrived later than originally given. After I called to inquire I was told there was a good reason for this but I shouldn't have had to call - they should have called me. The plumber did good work and found another problem lurking and fixed it as well, which I was thankful for. This made the job take extra time and he had to go to Home Depot twice. The new hookups work great. I'd use again but wasn't blown away by the service.

When my 5-week old gas hot water heater died, and because I have several cat litter boxes in the basement, was not likely to go more than 5 weeks in between sensor failures I asked Miller Ranney to rip it out and replace it with a more reliable solution "today". Barry went above and beyond to make me happy - I was livid when I learned the 5-week old tank would never perform in a basement with a cat liter box (cat urine in a litter box 10-ft away will trigger a sensor to shut the system down). I called 10 electricians before I found one that could come out and put in the needed 220 line. By the time the electrician arrived, Barry was back with an electric hot water heater and a helper to install it. I will continue to use and recommend Miller Ranney. They stepped up and made my day. After 4 days without hot water - I was not a happy camper. Barry took care of me. In fact, Barry deserves a raise.

5The following complaint is with service provided by Miller Ranney Plumbing Company. The service was performed as a result of a home warranty claim we have on our new house. The second day we were in our home, we noticed water around the base of the master toilet on the 2nd floor. We called our home warranty company and they contacted Miller Ranney who sent a technician to look at the problem. The technician determined it was a faulty seal on the toilet where it connects to the floor and replaced the wax seal. After this we gave our son a bath in a different upstairs bathroom and the toilet was flushed in the master bathroom to test it. We went out for about four hours and when we returned, we noticed water again around the base of the master toilet upstairs and water leaking through our kitchen ceiling. We called the warranty company and again they sent a technician from Miller Ranney to fix the problem. It was a different technician this time and he decided to replace 2 wax seals (one for the toilet and one for the pipe the toilet connects to.) The technician tested the toilet for leaks and assured us the toilet should not leak. However, later that evening the toilet once again had water around the base of it although no more leaked through our kitchen ceiling (we emptied the toilet bowl and tank of all water immediately). This time when we called our warranty company, they contacted a drain specialist to see if there might be a clog somewhere in the piping causing the issue. He determined there was not, but when he inspected the back of the toilet he noticed the back bolt that connects the tank to the toilet bowl had not been tightened all the way and there was a stream of water flowing from it down to and around the base of the toilet. This man, who was not a plumber, upon a quick glance at the toilet, had finally identified the issue. Once again we called our warranty company and they contacted Miller Ranney who sent out the same technician from last time (no. 2) and he replaced all the bolts holding the tank to the bowl which finally solved the issue. When I tried to obtain compensation from Miller Ranney for the damage to our kitchen ceiling, I was contacted by a customer service agent who said she had spoken to the owner and he determined that there must have been water preexisting to them coming out the first time which caused the leaky ceiling. I have several issues with the way this was handled. 1. There was not a huge amount of water that leaked through, only enough to cause an area of damage about 2 and ½ feet long and about 2 inches wide. If water had been sitting there for some time, then the water damage would have been more extensive. Nothing else in the house leaks and all drains function properly. The only possible way this could have happened is with the work that was not done properly the 1st time with the upstairs master toilet. Nothing was noticed upon home inspection which was obviously done shortly before moving in. 2. If there was preexisting water just hanging above the kitchen ceiling, then the problem was definitely made worse when the toilet wasn?t repaired properly the first time. 3. It took 4 visits by this company to fix a faulty bolt which should have been looked at once the toilet was put back together at the 1st visit. It took someone who was not even a plumber to identify the problem. 4. I did not get to speak to the owner on this issue and would have at least liked an in-depth explanation on how he thought this was not caused by his company?s work. Due to this experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone. If I had replaced the seal myself, we could have avoided the damage to our ceiling because I would have been more thorough then Miller Ranney Plumbing.

The project was completed but the pricing was definitely excessive.
Description of Work: Plumber placed two 2" bands on an exposed sewer line from a kitchen in a basement of a rental property. The cost floored me as many plumbers have been used servicing our rental properties. Called to discuss the charges. I was told that I would receive a call the next day and never received the call. Plumber sent my employee to the store to get an item for him adding further expense to this project.

Excellent customer service. The plumber who completed our job was knowledgable, professional, and went out of his way to help us not only repair the leaking pipe, but also to connect the faucet to the water supply for our new sink. We have used them at least twice and would not hesitate to use them again. I can't recall the total cost of the repair, but very reasonable and fair. A+

I would not use anyone else. I have completed multiple large jobs with Miller Ranney Cantrell (MRC) with superior results. I have an older home with copper supply and drain. Other plumbers want to cut the copper, install rubber couplings, and use PVC for the final connections because they do not have experience with large copper pipes. MRC plumbers are very skilled, long-term employees who have done an excellent job upgrading my plumbing. The job was completed on-time and on budget.
Description of Work: Miller Ranney Cantrell completed the plumbing rough in, shower install, and finish plumbing in our remodeled bathroom. This included installing: (1) rerouted copper shower drain and stack to meet current code requirements; (2) installing new 3/4" copper supply lines, mixer valve and 1/2" connections for two shower heads; (3) shower pan and partition wall; (4) Toto toilet with brass flange; and (5) Toto washlet.

The main reason for the 2nd call was leakage under kitchen counter. Serviceman stopped leak but said rusted fixture would probably leak again. Said if I obtained replacement faucet in near future he would come out and install without an extra service charge. I watched the work being done and it involved tools, muscles and replacement parts I do not have - much more complicated than a washer replacement. I've worked with this company in the past and continue to be impressed.

I have no idea if they are good plumbers or not. I contacted them for an estimate. After an initial eager response, I received zero communication/call-backs from them once I provided my address. My only request is that they be more specific as to their service area. It would seem to me that they do not actually have the time, resources, or inclination to service "most of the state of Ohio". Please: do not waste our time and we will not waste yours. Thank you.

MRC was originally engaged via my home warranty provider. It was determined before dispatch that the scope of services wasn't covered under the warranty, but I had MRC come out, anyway, as they are highly rated on Angie's List. They worked me into the schedule as their first call of the next day, and Mark came out personally. He inspected the pump, confirmed it was dead, and then took a look at the rest of the system. He gave me some insight into how it worked (this is our first home with a septic system), and identified some other issues we should investigate. He left to go to another job while waiting to get pricing and availability for the new pump, but encouraged me to look through the records left by the previous homeowner, as it looked like the pump was fairly new. I did so, discovered it was still under warranty, and had the original plumbing company arrange to come out and replace it. Although I didn't end up giving MRC the business, Mark still waived the service call fee, which I fully expected to owe. While MRC technically did not perform any significant services, the level of professionalism and customer care has made me a future customer of theirs, and certainly warranted a positive review of their company.
Description of Work: MRC came out to inspect and potentially repair a bad ejector pump on my septic system.

They were very good. The scoping camera was a great idea to see that the issue was. We discovered that the blockage was just on the outside of the house from a tree. And instead of using a normal snake head to break through. They had a special cutting head the was able to expand in the pipe to clear the entire area. The only negative thing was the price. There was a separate charge for putting the camera down the drain and a separate charge for snaking the line. Considering that the only way to be make sure the find out where the issue was, the camera and snaking should of been all in one price. Plus the only coupon they offered was $10 off (yes, dollars). This was a $500 project. This made the coupon equivalent to 2% off. If they were going to offer a coupon make it at least a 10% off service (at least it would made me feel like I was saving some money).
Description of Work: We had water coming up from a drain in the basement when we were doing several loads of laundry. Some time the back up would happen after 3 loads other times it would happen after 7 loads. They placed a camera down the main drain to look for the blockage. Once the blockage was found, the were able to snake the drain using a special cutting head to cut through roots from a tree or bush.
