Buyers Resource did a fantastic job walking us through our first home purchase. We were given an idea of what to expect, felt like we were their only customer, and never had a doubt in the advice the company provided. They truly looked out for our best interest throughout the process. We were given insight into how to help narrow down potential houses, qualities to look for and beware, identification of problems with potential houses, the potential resale value, and the value that we should place on our home. They covered everything end-to-end with recommendations for financing, inspection, warranty, and even recommended some locksmiths at the end. It would have been easy for the company to walk away with their commission after we signed the documents, but Buyers Resource provides a great deal of after sale service to their customers. We truly feel that we can discuss our house with them at any point. Buyers Resource's business model appears to be geared toward providing top notch service and establishing a lasting relationship with their clients. They protected us from all of the potentially bad outcomes from buying a first house and we would gladly recommend them to anyone else.

I recently moved to Ohio from Nevada and quickly decided to buy a property as I was unhappy with the rentals that were available to me. I had been given Mike's contact details by a friend of a friend and having him guide me through the buying process has been an utter godsend. I'm not sure I would have had the courage to make a purchase without his advice and support, and even if I had, I would have been likely to spend a lot more money and have gone about it in a much less savvy a manner. Mike showed me around 60 properties with absolute patience as I got to know Columbus and environs and refined my requirements. His advice was excellent, constructive, and always tactfully put. He pointed out the pros and cons of everything without prejudice and soon was able to anticipate my own questions and doubts. He helped me way above and beyond the purchase itself, for example, also furnishing me with a tonne of contacts for other matters (such as accountants, lawyers, etc etc). Since the purchase was completed, he has continued to check in to make sure things are going smoothly (which they are). He is also an astute negotiator and saved me a good deal of money and kept me protected at all times from any possible negative eventualities. I would definitely use him again and happily recommend him to all and sundry. Re the price - the services were free to me. His commission was paid by the seller.

This was my first time purchasing a home. I contacted Mike, because he had good reviews on Angie's List and was specifically a buyer broker (meaning he only represents buyers). Mike was great for my boyfriend and I. Having never gone through this process before we had no idea what we should or should not be doing, as well as what we should or should not expect. We initially met with Mike, and he went over everything that he does as buyer broker. At no point in time did he push us to anything. After the meeting he left us decide if we would go into contract with him as our buyer broker; however, the contract allowed us to walk away at any time for whatever reason. He was extremely flexible with viewing potential homes and worked around our schedule. While viewing the homes he was very thorough in the good and bad points of a house (such as prior water damage in the basement), but he never pushed us in one direction or the other. He merely told us options if we decided to pursue the house further or not. I really enjoyed that we never felt pressured to do anything. Once we found a house we wanted to pursue he gave us the option to use their pre-written contract, which gave us the protection as a buyer that we needed to get out of the contract should anything happen with financing or repairs on the house. He also said we were entitled to use a different contract if we wanted. We ended up going with that contract, and it worked out very well. He suggested several mortgage lenders, but emphasized that it was up to us if who we decided to go to. I really enjoyed how Mike was there to guide us but was never pushy even when we asked his opinion. He really advocated for us as buyers, and I appreciated everything that he did. He did much of the foot work for us, and every time that I asked a question was ready to answer me even when I would call at odd times or email. I would absolutely recommend Mike as your real estate agent for buying a home. He is knowledgeable and works for the buyer.

Mike was great to work with. Hassle free from start to finish. I'd never heard of a buyer's broker until I saw him on Angie's list whils searching for a realtor. Mike was very patient and thorough about how his services differ from a general realtor, which made me comfortable enough to invite him out for an interview at our home. He was great with providing a list of candidate realtors to sell our house as well as possible sources for financing and moving, when the time came. He gave us great advice when it came to looking for a home and took us out for several viewings. He was a great help in coordinating with the home inspector, seller's agent, and the bank throughout the process, which led to a smooth closing. You won't be disappointed if you choose him to help you buy a home.

He was a great Realtor but probably not the best for us. We have purchased a few homes before, and we were looking for more of a fixer upper that we could add value to. I think he is used to working with more first time home buyers who need more guidance and help. He pays a lot of attention to the home buyer but that's not really what we need.

We were very impressed and very happy to have someone "working" for us and looking out for us, the buyer. I would definitely use him/Buyer's Resource again, and I have already recommended him to many people. He helped my son find a home, he worked some with my other son. Mike was very responsive and eager to help in any way he could. He answered all of our questions right away and really looked out for us. It was great to know that there was no conflict of interest - Mike worked to make sure we got the best deal and we didn't have to worry that he or his firm might also be representing the seller at the same time. We had the privilege of working with both Andrew Show and Mike Marshall at Buyer's Resource. They're both stand-up guys who not only helped us find our first home, but also helped us navigate through the somewhat frustrating process of buying a house. As first time home buyers, they made sure we didn't rush into anything and pointed out all possible "deal breakers" to us as we toured each house. In the end, they helped us negotiate a great deal for our home and even convinced the sellers to do a major electrical update to the property. It went well. We got the house we wanted for less than we were willing to pay. He did a lot of work for a house that was under $100,000 but he treated us like we were a high paying client. He helped us over weekends and came out when he didn't need to. He help us out with a problem person when we were trying to sell our house.

I can't say enough good things about Mike Marshall. He was a consummate professional throughout our home-buying process, and we've since recommended him to many friends who had equally good experiences. When I was searching for a home in 2009, I interviewed about 10 realtors in the Columbus area, and Mike was the only one who gave me zero hassle about wanting to see his list of sales for the past year and was willing to discuss home options in all parts of the Columbus area. To be frank, he was also one of the few realtors who consistently and promptly returned my emails and phone calls (which he continued to do throughout our entire home buying process.) I had been accepted to a graduate program at OSU and was trying to choose and buy a house while still living in Michigan. Mike gladly met with me during one of my rare visits to Columbus, listened carefully to my husband and I's list of "wants," then used the big map in his office to show me areas of Franklin County that might suit. He encouraged me to go out and drive around those neighborhoods, then give him my impressions. He also gave my husband and I access to the local MLS listings and encouraged us to pick out some homes that caught our eye. This was a refreshing switch from other realtors, who clearly wanted to steer us toward certain homes or neighborhoods. After my husband and I picked out about 15 homes, Mike and I talked about each of those homes together, and Mike pointed out all kinds of things that I wouldn't have even thought about--for example, he looked up the property tax records on one house and found a huge red flag there, showed me a subtle detail in one picture of one house that suggested an inappropriate floor plan for my family's needs, etc. We whittled the list down to 8 homes worth seeing in person, and Mike arranged for us to see them all in one day. Mike's expertise shone through on those home visits, as well. He was very objective, always telling us what he saw as the various homes' pros and cons. He did not steer us toward any particular home, but he was candid about things like the home's overall condition, whether he saw potential red flags that might spell trouble at the home inspection stage, what kind of commute my husband and I could expect from that home's location to our work/school, ballpark costs to fix various cosmetic or mechanical problems with the various houses, etc. It speaks volumes that we ultimately chose a home in a neighborhood/zip code I would have never considered without Mike's input. Our zip code has a bad reputation overall (43224), but this particular neighborhood has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire city of Columbus and is full of well-priced, sturdy homes and tree-lined sidewalks. Without Mike's advice, I wouldn't have even thought to look at this home! Mike then helped us choose a good offering price, negotiated with the buyers, and helped us navigate the home inspection process. Much of that had to be done via fax or email since we hadn't moved from Michigan yet. I did drive down to attend the home inspection, and Mike also attended; he had recommended a home inspector who was fantastic and very candid about the home. Mike was also very helpful with financing; he used to be a mortgage officer before he became a buyer's agent, so he had some thoughtful ideas about financing. When we chose a very non-traditional finance route--a family loan through Virgin Money, a program now known as LoanKin--Mike was totally open to it and helped ensure a smooth closing. Our home only cost $112,500, so Mike's commission from the sellers was not big at all...yet Mike treated us like VIP customers throughout the transaction. My husband and I have lived in this house now for 4.5 years, and it's lived up to all our expectations. I've also recommended Mike Marshall to multiple friends, and they had excellent experiences too.
