The real estate agent was not always good at responding to emails or keeping up with communication during the pre-building stages of the home. This led to delays in the new home construction. For example, she did not correctly record details of the house that we discussed (and were in the contract). This was discovered after the blueprints for the house were done and the permit obtained. Therefore, this process had to start from scratch, which led to a significant delay in construction. Between final walk through of the home and closing, there was damage discovered in several locations (that was not seen at the final walk through). After only living in the home for only 5 weeks, this brand-new home has had water in the basement three times. I would not use this company again.

The window seals in the windows (all 22) failed by 2006. Direct contact and requests for help from the M/I corporate offices yielded no help. We were simply told the window manufacture had gone out of business at that time and in result we were out of luck. Great customer service - NOT! We will never buy another M/I home, they are only interested in helping themselves in the short term. Not the original company Mel and Irving had built.
Description of Work: We had our second M/I home built in 2003.

Working with M/I Homes was great. I was living in Washington DC at that time before I came and got everything finalized. The interaction with them in getting everything squared away and teed up and finalized was good. During that time, Columbus, Ohio and Washington DC had some blizzard conditions. I had to change some appointments. They were just so good about arranging things to meet my schedule in the weather delays caused by my inability to travel from Washington DC here. They are good people.
Description of Work: I have mortgage on a new house. M/I Homes did it in February of last year.

This is my 4th home and 1st new construction home. The overall new home buying experience with M/I Homes was pretty good. The few problems that arose were taken care of. We'll see how the house holds up through the years, but based on the house so far and the overall buying experience, I would definitely buy another M/I home as well as recommend them to others.
