McDermott Plumbing

We have a plumbing problem in a second floor bathroom which was evident as we noticed spots on our first floor ceiling. After our first call to Mike McDermott, he and his assistant came to our home on the day or day after we called. Mike seemed like a very skilled plumber running a sound business. We asked for an estimate for the plumbing and bathroom remodel which we received electronically a few days later. After obtaining a couple of other estimates we decided we wanted to have McDermott do the work. After receiving a slightly revised estimate from McDermott, I called and left my contact information and requested a return call so we could get things started. That was five days ago and no call. Obviously we can't work with a plumber/contractor who is unable to return a phone call. Even assuming McDermott was no longer interested in doing our remodel a phone would have been in order. So disappointing....

After trying a few times to connect with the company, a date and time was finally agreed upon. Michael came out on time, was courteous and took care of the problem right away.

Professional and helpful guy. My only complaint was that we had a coupon from Angies List that when I made the appointment the woman who made the appointment told me to remember to use it (since that was a few weeks befoee he actually came), I did not use it and was bummed he did not remind me. I wish he would have, that is my only complaint, if you call it that.

The McDermott team was very professional and courteous. The plumbers took the time to try different avenues to clear my line before jumping right to the bug guns. I could tell they cared about the quality of their work because they weren't satisfied with simply clearing the clog. They wanted to know the root cause of the problem. I thought price of the service was more than fair. I highly recommend this team. They have earned my word of mouth endorsements and any future plumbing needs I have.

It was not the easiest job to do but he did it well. I have no complaints at all about work, service, etc. Price is always a concern but not too bad and it is good to have the owner of a business do the work, in my view. Seems passionate about his work and I would gladly use again.

I called yesterday to inquire about a pipe that had burst in my first floor bathroom. I had turned the water off already and this was not a huge priority to me as I have 2 other bathrooms in my home. The Owner of the company actually took my call. Very professional, personable and respectful. I received a courtesy call 20 minutes prior to arrival. More companies should offer this. It costs nothing. The 2 plumbers that showed up had all the same qualities of the owner. This is rare these days. They were in and out quickly and efficiently. They took time to educate me on the issue and provided options. At no point did I feel I was being up sold or taken advantage of. This was a concern I had from the time I learned the pipe burst. Their contact information is now in my iPhone for any and all plumbing and service needs. Very good service. My mind has been PRE eased for any future problems for my 100 year old home. THANK YOU. Michael, the owner took my call around noon and agreed to come out the same day even though they were very busy. He gave me a courtesy call to let me know that he was running late and asked if it was still OK with my schedule. Once he arrived he was young and very friendly and went to see the shower, which was running continuously because we could not shut it off! He turned off the main water line and went to work on fixing the shower. He explained that the problem was a broken cartridge and repaired it. He also repaired the cartridge in a tub which had a continual fast drip/stream. Every time he came in/out, he put on shoe covers, and there were no parts lying around a no mess left from his work. When we told him about the problem with our water heater having to be reset over and over, he took a look at it and made the adjustment quickly and did not charge us for it. Again, he was very friendly, easy to talk to, and service-oriented. He also let us know that we could have a non-expiring $50 credit for a future job just for doing a review on Angie's list! I would definitely hire Michael and his company again.

I had a leak in the floor into the kitchen. After several plumbers with different companies, Michael said that he would personally come out to the house to investigate. He was here for about 20 minutes and figured out our issue. He also fixed the pressure issue with the shower. AWESOME work.

It went very well. They were very good at keeping the costs down. We were very pleased. We used them in December 2012. They were on time and did what was expected. They tried to find a cost effective solution. It was good. We were pleased and put them in our call back list. The price was very fair.

He was extremely nice and explained future work needed. Waved his basic service fee because of Angie's List referral. Was extremely responsive to phone calls. Definitely would use agian.

We are extremely pleased with McDermott Plumbing. Michael is a very young man, but he clearly is a skilled and knowledgeable plumber. He and his assistant Chris showed up on time, were very pleasant, and did a great job. They ran into a couple of unexpected problems, but quickly fixed those as well. The price was fair, not cheap, and the quality of their work was excellent. Both wore booties over their shoes and Chris swept and cleaned the kitchen floor after they were done much cleaner than it was when they arrived. I highly recommend this company.

We had a pipe freeze and burst in our home during the extreme cold. We started calling companies right away, and McDermott was the only company able to come that evening to fix it, which was fortunate as we had the water to the whole house turned off. They came within about 2 hours of the incident, fixed the problem, and had us back and running within 2 hours of arrival. Mike and his assistant were polite and neat. They made a great effort to clean up, including Windex-ing the floor. Plumbing is always expensive, but the price was fair for what was an emergency job. I would hire them again.

Micheal McDermott was very pleasant and professional. He and his assistant installed a new Moen shower faucet (provided by McDermott and included in the price above) as well as installing a kitchen faucet (provided by me) and replacing the strainer/trap in the kitchen sink. He was able to schedule it quickly, showed up on time, was very careful to clean up and make certain I was satisfied with the job. He was working with VERY old pipes in my house and he was able to do it all for the price quoted. The price above included the coupon discount through Angie's List. I am currently getting an estimate for a new hot water system and if accepted will have more reviews to come. Finally, I've worked with 3 other plumbers in the past year and he was by far the best experience.

Mike was easy to schedule an appointment with and arrived earlier than expected (he called before hand to see if that was acceptable). He came to repair a leak in a pipe underneath the kitchen sink and ended up having to replace a couple pipes due to their poor condition. The job lasted longer than expected due to obtaining some parts but he was efficient and pleasant to work with.

I wanted a utility sink in my unfinished basement. I selected the fixtures based on a visit to Ferguson Enterprises, but wanted the plumber to purchase and install. Called Mike and described the project, which was NOT an emergency plumbing repair. Mike came by in about 2 days, and I received the quote about 3 days later. While here, he noticed that a toilet drain wax seal I had repaired two years ago by another contractor was leaking again. So I asked that he add that repair to the scope of work. There were a couple of phone call reminders and an email I sent to keep things on track. But not being a plumbing emergency, I had flexibility on when the work would be done. Although he did not perform the work on the day that we originally agreed, he did call and rescheduled for the first call the next morning. It is the nature of this business that sometimes you can't always remain on schedule. Mike was very professional, the price was right, and the work was completed as planned. I was completely satisfied with price, workmanship, and cleanup. I gave an 'A' in all categories except for punctuality because of the need to communicate reminders and reschedule, but the timing of the project was not critical to me. I would definitely call again.

McDermott Plumbing is an outstanding establishment. Mike McDermott, owner and plumber, is extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and a super-nice guy. He responded promptly to all of my requests and questions. His work is outstanding and he uses premium parts. When he is finished with the job, you would never know he was there - he cleans up the entire area thoroughly. He wore shoe covers while in our house so as not to soil the carpet. He is very respectful of the owner's property. I cannot say enough good things about this business. I will continue to use McDermott Plumbing and highly recommend them to my friends and family. An extremely positive experience.

Owner arrived on time. He and his co-worker were respectful and courteous at all times. Both took precautions to avoid tracking water thru the house even though it had snowed. He explained thoroughly want he was going to do and what the job would cost before starting. I came away feeling very confident in his ability to get the job done. The job was completed in a reasonable amount of time and they cleaned the work area up very nicely. From what I could tell the workmanship was excellent. This is the first time I had ever us anyone from Angies list. If these guys are the example of the type of workers that Angies list, then I am sorry that I didn't use Angies sooner.

He was very professional and when I asked about changes I might want to make in my bathroom, he was very helpful and gave me suggestions I might want to consider. I would definitely consider using him if I were to do a bathroom remodeling.

I couldn't be happier. Mike came out the same day I called and was on time. He put on shoe covers when he came inside the house - a rarity these days! He finished the job in no time and explained the work he did. Very professional and polite. I would definitely use them again in the future!

Our local box store delivered our new dishwasher on Saturday morning, and determined they could not install it as my old one was soldered directly to the water supply. I found McDermott Plumbing in the November issue, called them, and described the issue. They offered to come out later the same morning, but because it was Saturday, a service fee would apply. They were able to discount it though, because of my Angie's List membership. I accepted, and they pulled into my driveway an hour later. Mike (the owner) is professional, polite, and extremely knowledgeable. He pulled out the old dishwasher, installed a new shutoff valve, and installed the new dishwasher. He hauled the old machine outside for me, and cleaned up after himself. I will definitely use McDermott Plumbing again.

Mike allowed me to use my expired Angie's List certificate toward the price of the repairs. They arrived very late due to running long on another job. They found a part was needed to fix the leaky toilet which they had on the truck and were able to install. They looked at a bathroom sink and I was relieved to get their opinion that it was installed okay. They were professional and competent. I would use them again for plumbing needs.

I needed a leaky outdoor faucet replaced and also shut off valves inside my two faucets added. I got quotes from 2 places but the other company could not provide me with a copy of workers compensation and liability insurance papers. I went with Mike and he provided me with necessary proof of insurance. Mike did the work I requested and explained exactly what he had done. I was very happy with the results and plan on using him in the future.

I was pleased with everything. From the initial call which gave me an idea of the expected cost, to the explanation of everything he was doing and why and the final result with a 'how to' should I ever need to. Mike even gave a verbal estimate to remodel my bathroom. Mike's experience, professionalism and excellent customer service made him a contender for my bathroom project early next Spring! I will definitely keep his number handy and will make referrals to him.
