McDermott Plumbing

With the recent melted snow and hours of rain, my sump pump was going out and if it could not be replaced, it would have flooded my basement. I called McDermott Plumbing at 7:30am on Saturday and he worked me in on a very busy night and day for plumbers to replace my sump pump and flow switch by 10:30am. McDermott Plumbing has a 24 hour service and I wish I had logged onto Angie's List earlier found Michael and got a full night's sleep!

We were afraid a toilet was shifting and possibly leaking to the floor below. Mike checked the toilet and discovered that it had never been tightened in its mounts. Confirmed that there had been no leaking and ordered a new latch which he installed the next week. Service was friendly and professional. We now have a new plumber!

They did a great job by fixing the problem. He was outstanding and experienced.

Mike consulted the Bosch dishwasher manual which I set out for him so that he could see how the manufacturer recommended that the brackets be screwed into the side cabinetry surrounding the dishwasher. He and Chris removed the brackets from the top of the dishwasher housing and re-attached them to the sides, as Bosch recommended, and then they secured the brackets to the wood cabinetry. Mike and Chris performed this repair efficiently and precisely. I appreciate that Mike accepted this small job, which EIGHT Angie's List plumbing companies and handymen told me they would not do, saying that repositioning the brackets was an installation issue rather than a plumbing issue and that I needed to call the original installers in order to have this repair done. Mike, however, wanted to be of service and said that he would do the repair for me. I also appreciated how careful the two men were in their work: putting on plastic foot coverings upon entering the house, spreading a protective mat on the kitchen floor, keeping the dishwasher secure as they rebracketed it, etc. Mike is a professional and knowledgeable man whom we intend to hire again this summer to install new toilets in our bathrooms. He was well-spoken, courteous, and punctual.

I called on Wednesday afternoon about 3:00, and my call was returned before 5:00. I got an appointment for Friday afternoon. On Friday afternoon, Mike and Chris called to ask if they could come a little earlier. It only took a few minutes to fix the leak under the sink, so the only charge was for the house call. Mike was pleasant and efficient.

McDermott Plumbing is great. They seem to have high standards -- we were very satisfied with the work and walk-through.

Service was performed promptly and done well. I would recommend and/or do business with again.

Great work. Very knowledgable. Ended up having to replace the expansion tank too but it did not delay installation. He ran out to get the tank and came back right away. He cleaned up after he completed the work and took the old tank with him, as requested. He also placed plastic down on floor in house to protect new wood floors. Chris was supposed to send me an invoice or receipt or something like that after the installation but I haven't received it yet. I will probably call him for the documents so I have them for my records ... He was great and highly recommended.

Mike was great - easy to schedule, worked quickly and didn't try to do anything that I didn't need. I felt like I could trust him- he only charged me for a service call since it was a fairly quick job, even though he had quoted me slightly higher on the phone. He cleaned up and everything worked correctly for the first time in years! I will use him as my plumber of choice from now on!

Mike was great. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We will call him again for future plumbing problems.

This was the second time I had used Mikes services. He and his asdistant explained in detail what they were doing and why they were doing it, and what it would and would not accomplish. He is very professional and I highly recommend him. Honest straightforward guy.

Mike and his co-worker were extremely professional, helpful and did a wonderful job! We had to leave a message when we first called to schedule, but he called back in a timely manner and scheduled the appointment for the next week. We waited for a few days for the services but that was ok, as he had such good reviews on the list we were willing to wait. We will definately call again whenever we need a plumber. We are extremely pleased with the whole process and happy with the work!

We happened to use Michael the first time by chance and were very pleased that he was on time, courteous, professional, and personable. We needed to get our tub fixed, and although Michael could not service us for 4 days due to his busy schedule, we waited for him! He remembered us from before and went right to work on our tub. Not only did he fix the tub, but he checked our leaky and slow-filling toilet and put in a new fill valve. Michael went the extra mile and he was worth the wait, knowing that we would get quality work done with a great attitude! His no-nonsense receipt reflected our problem, the repairs completed, and the price. He is a fantastic plumber and a great person! I will use McDermott Plumbing anytime I have a plumbing issue and I recommend that you do too!!

I needed a repair done in my rental property master shower. I sent a message to McDermott Plumbing via Angie's List and received very quick response. A mutually convenient time was set for them to meet my tenant a few days later. I received a call as soon as the work was finished, and an invoice was immediately emailed to me as requested (and a 25% Angie's List discount was applied bringing my total to $155). I was impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of Michael McDermott, and would use McDermott Plumbing again without hesitation.

I have used McDermott Plumbing several times and would call no other plumber. Pretty much couldn't be happier with a company, given the circumstances I was dealing with. Basically I had a main water line busted causing a ton of water to be continuously pumping (~gallon an minute). I first called Water Works. Without going too much into detail here, they completely dropped the ball. They never showed up and wasted a full day of my time when I could have been working with people who can do their jobs. So after realizing Water Works was incompetent, I called Michael at McDermott Plumbing (and one other company). Michael came out immediately after I called, upon hearing my emergency situation and a competitor failing. He immediately diagnosed the problem when he arrived, and quoted me a very good price to do the work. And most importantly, that his crew could be out the next morning (Saturday of Labor Day weekend no less). They arrived on time, did the work, and fixed the problem. I was so happy that I tried to pay Michael a little bit more given that all of this happened within 24 hrs of my first call to him, and he kindly declined saying the price he quoted was more than enough. Suffice it to say, the next time I have a plumbing issue, he's my first call. I just hope it's something minor next time... :)

We recommend this company. Mike is friendly and very respectful of the home-he worked hard to clean up any mess he made, wore shoe covers too. We used a 25% off coupon from their Angie's List site- it can be used towards one service, not the total cost. We will be calling them back for any future plumbing needs.

Our 12 year old kitchen faucet sprang a leak in the pull-out hose. I ordered a replacement hose through a dealer that Michael determined was not compatible with my faucet (trip #1). He then consulted with dealer to order another replacement hose which also was not compatible (trip #2). Michael came prepared with a new faucet very similar to our old faucet so he could get our kitchen faucet operating just in time for a bridge party the next morning. I am unhappy with the dealer, Delta faucets, but very happy with the tenacity of Michael who twice worked into the evening to solve our problem. Michael, an OSU grad, is an exceptional person masquerading as a plumber. He will be the most courteous and tenacious plumber you ever met.
