My husband and I had gone to the Columbus Home & Garden Show to look at hardwood floor vendors. We had a few questions of the vendor and then asked for their floor installer, at which time they referred us McCool Floors. We called McCool Floors a week or so after the show and left a message. They were a little slow getting back to us, but when they did they were very professional. Jim McCool came out to the house and was both punctual and polite. He was a little late getting us the estimate, but when we did receive it, it was a fair deal. Jim McCool was very good about answering our questions. He arrived at the time that he had indicated to start work and finished the work in a very timely manner. The floor is gorgeous. We are extremely pleased w/the end result. My husband and I will definitely use McCool Floors again when we have the carpet in the next part of the house replaced w/hardwood..

What a great experience we had with McCool Floors!! We did a lot of research on wood flooring. We spent two weeks looking at flooring at discount and other flooring stores trying to decide whether we should use laminate, engineered, or hardwood. Most stores use sub contractors and we were not comfortable with that. We have bad experiences with sub contracting in the past. Finally we called a few installers and had them come to our home for an estimate on installation and to get their recommendations on what would work best for us. Jim McCool, owner of McCool floors impressed us right away with his knowledge. He even said he would met us at Panel Town whom he prefers to work with (and we understood why after we went there to pick out our flooring) and help us decide on what would work best for us. He told us either he, or one or two of his floor installers who work exculsively for him and have worked for him a long while would do the install. The installers arrived on time and even though Jim McCool had scheduled two days, they finished in one. Jim was on other business so he was not involved in the install but he stopped by once to see how it was going and then again when they were done to make sure we were happy with the install and he looked it over himself. I wish we could remember the two installers names because they were real pros, we felt comfortable & confident with them right off. They did a beautiful job, and we LOVE our floors, (we chose hickory hand scraped hardwood). From our master you look straight down the hall where three other bedrooms and a hall bath are off of, the flooring is perfectly straight, if it was not it would look really bad. These guys are like I said before REAL PROS and you can tell they take pride in their work. The only thing left to do was install the flush floor registers we ordered to match and stretch the carpet up against the wood in the bedrooms off the hall. Unfortunately the registers were back ordered and not there the day of the install and the carpet could not be stretched because we had all of our furntiure from our master in those rooms. Jim McCool returned to install the registers as soon as we called him to let him know they were in, and to stretch the carpet. Because of the type of carpet we have, Jim could not get it to look the way it should, so we ordered matching T mold, as soon as that is in he will be back to install that. We will be doing more wood in the near future and McCool floors and Panel Town will definitley be getting our business again. The service was excellent. I would call them back up in a second. They did a great job, we were happy and pleased. He took the time to explain all the flooring, he is very willing to really explain it until you understand. The work turned out beautiful. Everything ran very smooth.

I was concerned about what type of flooring we would be able to do in our condo since it is on a slab, so I called Jim McCool. He agreed to come to my home to evaluate the situation before he gave a definitive answer. He came as scheduled and brought some samples with him. After seeing the condo he advised that we could put down engineered hardwood as long as he applied a sealant to the concrete slab first. He took his time explaining the difference between the various types of flooring and showed me the samples to get an idea of what we wanted. We basically wanted hardwood throughout, but he advised against putting hardwood in the bathrooms so we agreed to look at premium vinyl tiles. He took thorough measurements of all the rooms. After our meeting he emailed me a quote which I approved. He works directly with Panel Town so he also provided them with the quote and all the specs so when we went there and picked out our flooring, they had all the information they needed to place the order. The work was scheduled to start on 3/18/13 and to take 4 days. Initially, Jim McCool said that we could still live there while they did the work, but due to the tight quarters in a condo we ended up deciding to stay in a hotel for the 4 days. This was fine with us, we had a mini vacation and didn't need to worry about our cats stepping in the sealant or glue. All work was performed on schedule and exactly as expected, including all new shoe molding. We LOVE our new floors and would definitely use McCool Floors again.

*He was able to make the appoinment for the estimate visit very quickly. He was late but did not call. Did not answer when I called to see if he was still coming out. Very kind and personable when he arrived. Looked at the floor and said he would have to get back to me with a figure the following Monday. No call from him by 6p on Monday, so I called and left a message. Then I left another on Wednesday, then another on Friday. I never heard back with the estimate and never returned any of the messages. We selected another provider.

Around 10/22/12 I initiated contact with Mr McCool via email as it was on a weekend. My work schedule is currently very hectic and I am going through some pre-surgery stuff in preparation for knee surgery. I was very happy and impressed by the speedy response, especially on the weekend, from Mr McCool and he stated, correctly, that we would need to set up an appointment to come do an inspection to be able to give an accurate estimate. I then gave my address and phone number and said that 1pm on Monday 10/29/12 (one week later) would work for us and we would look forward to his visit but to respond by either phone or email if this time / day was not workable on his end. No replies were forthcoming and on 10/29 we waitied around and no-one ever showed up. Now, I am still in need of my kitchen floor being completely re-done but will NOT entertain this company for any reason. The sheer unprofessionalism astounds me but if this is how the work (quality or timing) would have proceeded then maybe I got a lucky early warning. If my 10x10 (the size I quoted him but I have now measured it as 10x14) kitchen job is too small or if something unexpected happened (as happens to all of us), would a quick email or phone call have been too much to ask? First time I have used Angies List for a project as we just joimed and I will not give up on the list but I will be honest about any company we contact.

We asked Mr. McCool to our house twice: The first time for an estimate on a different type of surface, and the second time to assist in making a selection among several types of surfaces. Mr. McCool was friendly and professional in both cases, asked appropriate questions, and made what we felt were good and reasonable suggestions. We purchased materials suggested by Mr. McCool and contracted with McCool Floors to perform the installation. The process went flawlessly - the crew arrived exactly on time, were completely professional and respectful, completed the job exactly on time and as promised, and at the price quoted except for a small change we made (matching wood register covers). They even caught a small problem we had not noticed and made the repair without being asked. Mr. McCool then stopped by the house in the evening to review, make sure we were satisfied, and settle the bill. Overall, I cannot imagine what I would have asked to have been done differently. Excellent service, professional and friendly people, and a very nice finished product.

My son and I were shopping for hardwood flooring for my great room and hallway at Panel Town. We wanted to match existing wood flooring in an adjoining foyer and kitchen which was very difficult to do without a sample of our 15 year old floors. I called Jim McCool of McCool Floors to set up an appointment for an installation estimate. He came to my home the next day to do the measuring. Within several days I had the estimate and decided to go forward with the project. Jim was very informative about the various types of wood flooring and he agreed to meet me at Panel Town to help with the selection. Jim chose several samples for me to take home. He was right on target and found a very close match. Jim ordered the supplies from Panel Town and I completed the order with my credit card. The install date was scheduled for Nov 7 and 8. Jim and Jerry arrived at 8 AM on Monday, Nov 7 and started ripping out my carpet. That was a very messy job but they managed to contain the mess. The installation of the floors was completed at the end of the 2nd day. I am very satisfied with the professionalism and thoughtfulness of Jim McCool. Once the job was completed, they cleaned every bit of mess and it looked beautiful. They even attached the felt floor protectors to my two couches, all the tables and my heavy desk!!! I couldn't have had a better experience and would highly recommend McCool Floors to install wood flooring. The price was very fair.

Installation was high quality. Price was less than we anticipated. Initial service was prompt, however there was a problem with getting all the materials necessary to complete the stairs. They finished the upstairs area and downstairs area, then left the job until the materials came in. It took over two months for them to return to finish due to scheduling conflicts. I also found I had to consistently try to reach out in order to get an update. However, I feel like these are conditions you pretty much have to accept with any contractor. The work was great, and the price was excellent. I would use him again.

Jim McCool is incredible. He is absolutely awesome. He showed up on time and did what he said he was going to do and then some. The price was good. He was very professional. I would give him a 20 out of a 10. His work was very good. He got the job done quickly. He was here when he said he would be and he got the job done when he said he would get it done, which doesn't happen too often. I really couldn't say enough good things about him. He really is a good guy. He does a professional job and has a professional company. I would recommend him. I got a lot of estimates. I did get a bid lower than his but I didn't get a good feel about their professionalism. He gave me the option of working with a company that he had worked with to pick out the flooring or I could get the materials myself. He wrote up to a T everything that I would need to get the job done, which was very nice. He did that before I even accepted the bid and told him I wanted him to do the job. I got the materials because it was cheaper for me and I was trying to match up existing flooring and the company he suggested didn't have what I needed.

Jim was very prompt with a visit and estimate. Since his work was dependent on the completion of other work, it took a fair amount of time before we were able to schedule a time for installation. He adjusted the original estimate (lower) since I did some of the work myself. He and his partner are very professional. When possible, sawing was done outside to minimize dust in the house. He is work is outstanding.

He and his associate that he works with were excellent. It was perfect! They were punctual, hardworking, and cleaned everything up as they went. I can't recommend them highly enough. He went above and beyond. The result was beautiful.

It took approximately 7 hours to finish all of the install work. The team was on time and as described earlier, were extremely neat and professional.

In summary, the result was great! Jim was very responsive during the whole process. We discussed the project with several contractors. Jim seemed to understand our goals and concerns. He explained the process and seemed to have a grasp on the issues. Removal of the old floor went very well and Jim and his helper obviously used their skill and patience to remove the floor without inflicting damage on the existing cabinets. The new floor was installed and all the new molding were stained to match. The floor looks fantastic. I can't believe how much better it looks than the tile. Jim was easy to contact and he kept us informed with the timing of the job. He was also flexible and allowed me to reschedule when I ran into a problem with the first schedule date. His estimates of time and cost were accurate. The quality was fantastic. We are extremely pleased with the process and the result.

Jim was very courteous and very professional. He did a great job on the work. He cleaned up his entire mess after the job was finished. I would recommend him and use him again.

They did a good job and the job was done quick. They were very informative and taught me how to clean the floors. We haven't had any problems. Everything went smoothly and I would use them again in the future.

He was so nice, professional, and very knowledgeable. Every time he said he would be out here he was here at exactly that time. He had one other person helping him and he was nice, too. I have never had such a wonderful contractor in my house before. I would recommend him to anyone.

My sister recommended Jim after did he a great job installing her hard wood floors. Jim returned my call for a free estimate promptly and was at my house within a week. I received the written estimate within 3 days of his visit, as promised. Jim patiently answered my questions about laminate (I had a lot of questions). Once I finally chose a laminate, I called Jim and scheduled the work within 2 weeks. He was able to finish the job in one day. The floor looks great! My woodwork had to be cut down to adjust to the new flooring, and Jim did a wonderful job in every aspect of the work. Not a speck of anything for me to clean up after his work was performed. I would highly recommend Jim for laminate and hard wood installation work.

Jim McCool and his assistant did the three day project as if it was his home. They both were very respectful, trustworthy, professional and experienced in this field. As they moved from room to room, they were very receptive in answering my questions. Jim also installed the half paneling down our hallway, which was an after thought, for a small added fee. My husband and I are very satisfied with the end result of both our flooring, molding and hallway paneling and will recommend his services to all our family and friends.

Jim was outstanding. He was on time for both the estimate as well as the actual work. He provided great advice and everything went as planned! How many times does that happen. I also think Jim's prices are very reasonable and his attention to detail is excellent. I would (and will) absolutely use Jim again.

Jim was highly recommended by Panel Town where we bought our hardwood flooring. He started when he said he would, was always polite, and they cleaned up every night after they had finished. Jim's quote was reasonable, and the quality of work outstanding. We have received many compliments from friends about our new floor, and we have recommended Jim McCool to others.
