I used Angie's List to research contractors and picked Jim McCool for his professionalism. He provided a worksheet of all the materials needed. I purchased CoreTec Plus luxury vinyl since we have two dogs and three cats. We picked walnut planks for the family, living and dining rooms. The kitchen, half bath and laundry was a tile finish. Jim and his crew showed up at 9 AM on 10/2. Jim walked thru the house explaining exactly what was to be done in each room. The work was done by Wes and another man (I don't remember his name). Wes kept me informed of any issues and the status of what was done each day and the plans for the following day. There were two issues that came up. One was bad sub flooring by the patio door. I had the patio door replace 2 years ago and there was rotten wood that was fixed but the floor was missed. Wes replaced the flooring. Then in the dining room I had a urine issue when the cats got upset with the new puppy. Wes had me get KILLZ and I painted the floor so work could precede the next day. The crew was on site at 9 AM every day and worked till 4 PM. The job finished on 10/9. On the last day a third man showed up to install molding and quarter rounds on the entire first floor. I was very impressed by the work effort and professionalism of the crew. Jim and his crew made life very easy for me during the week. My wife had emergency surgery the previous Thursday and went to a nursing on the day the job started. I had to leave the crew several times to see my wife.

Jim laid Prego flooring we had purchased at Home Depot in two (2) rooms of our home. The flooring is now in and looks great. Jim and his team were fast and professional on the job site. Would recommend them to others without reservation.

Excellent. I highly, highly recommend McCool Floors to anyone looking for a high-quality, yet reasonably-priced, installation. The rates charged by McCool Floors are standard in the industry, but their service and attention to detail are second to none. The installers friendly, professional, and prompt. And, with regard to detail, their attention to detail really sets McCool Floors apart. Jim McCool finds stain to match your flooring for the shoe molding and wooden vent covers and then stains them himself (and does an excellent job). If you care about a quality installation, hire McCool Floors.

Jim was very responsive from the time we reached out to request a quote. He contacted us within 24 hours of receiving our request for information. He provided our quote timely after visiting our house to prepare the estimate. He listened to our requests and detailed them perfectly in the quote. Jim and his team are very punctual and very professional. They were able to complete our project in 4 days due to schedule availability which was wonderful so we did not cross a weekend. We had furniture pads out and his team went the extra mile to put the furniture pads on the legs of our furniture as they moved the furniture back into place on the newly installed floors. The team did a nice job cleaning up at the end of each day and at the end of the project. There was no sawdust left in our garage! Jim asked to come by the day after completion which was a Saturday so he could do a walk-through with us. We had a couple of very minor "punch list" items and they were remedied early the next week. Overall, we are very satisfied with Jim and his team and the work they performed. Our floors look great! We would absolutely use McCool Floors again and recommend them.

The result is beautiful. The new wood matches the old wood nicely. His workmen were very courteous to have in my home. It took four days. they moved my furniture one room at a time, and kept it livable for us. they cleaned up after themselves to minimize the dust. I'm very pleased.

Our hardwood floors have been installed and they look wonderful. We only have good things to say about this company. Jim McCool, the owner, was very prompt in getting with us to give an estimate. He told us about the process of the installation and explained about the different qualities of wood. Wes and Brian, the installers, while being very professional but were also very friendly and easy to talk to. The two of them came, took up my old carpet and padding, hauled it away, and installed my hardwood and trim in three days. This was the time frame that Jim had given us when we first met him for our estimate. Our whole experience dealing with McCool Floors was very positive and we wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone.

They were great. They were very courteous, punctual and easy to get along with. They were very responsive in calling back, they came out when they said they would to give a quote and I had no problems with them at all. The price was reasonable.

Fantastic to work with from assisting in the selection process to the actual installation. Jim (owner) and Jerry (installer) are both knowledgeable, professional, responsive and great to work with! Highly recommend.

Excellent! Arrived as promised on both days. Talk about skilled workers--the best I've seen in a very long time. From the initial meeting with Jim to the final sweeping of the kitchen floor and garage area this company is all that it can possibly be--absolutely no hesitation in recommending McCool Floors.

McCool Flooring saved the day. He knew what he was doing with leveling the floor before installing the cork floor. He was efficient an very prompt. He was honest in his evaluation and very neat as he worked.

Jim and his employees were awesome. If I could give a grade higher than an A, I would. They were very professional, punctual, neat and very exact with their work. The area they had to install the tile was big and there was a lot of cutting but they did a fabulous job. I couldn't be happier. The guys who were working on this job were professional and kind. They always made sure they cleaned up after working that day. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone.

Jim was very responsive to email and phone, scheduled promptly for our estimate. Jim arrived on time and was extremely helpful and professional. He brought multiple samples of flooring, as we had discussed on the phone, and ultimately helped us choose the right product for our needs. Jim promptly provided a professional email estimate for our services, which were very fairly priced. We ultimately chose to go with another well rated Angiel's List provider, mainly because the other provider also could do carpentry work that we needed done around the house, but we would absolutely consider using Jim in the future.

Although I didn't go with Jim because I have gotten several other quotes from Angies List providers I wanted to write this review because of how professional Jim was with our conversation back and forth of what to expect from a job like mine. He went over pros/cons of doing myself versus a pro helping out. He never pressured me to meet with him before meeting with other companies so I repsected that. I do wish I would have gotten a firm quote from him before I signed with someone else but I would without a doubt refer Jim to some of my friends who are recent homeowners. I have the utmost confidence that Jim would treat them with the same respect and professionalism that he has showed me. I am sure his workmanship is as good as his values and integrity.

I would highly recommend McCool Floors. The end product turned out great. The work was done timely and the team was always professional. I have emailed Mr. McCool a few times since the installation to ask questions about upkeep and he has always gotten back to me promptly.

Everything was great. Jim and his team were punctual, very responsive to any requests and the quality of the work was excellent. I would definitely use them again.

The job went very well. Jim was very professional right from the start - estimate, instructing us on floor maintenance, install and dealing with some end issues. The pricing was very fair, consistent with other installers. He explained the job thoroughly and was always on time. The install went very smoothly. The men cleaned up after themselves. We had 2 minor problems, which Jim stood behind. One issue, was that there were some ceramic tiles accidently broken while installing the laminate. Jim had us pick out a new tile, and replaced the entryway tile floor on his pocket. We also had a t-mold pop up after adhesion - and again, Jim ordered a new piece and will be replacing it when it is received. His crew was very nice - they even vacuumed out the garage from all the dust for me. It could not have gone any better.

Received quote, but putting job on hold for now

This is the second time that I have used this company. Jim was prompt in returning my call, very professional and came out on a timely basis to provide me a free estimate. The two installers were on time each day, worked consistently during the day in order to get the job done in the estimated time. The price was very competitive and they work well together with the material supplier. Both labor and materials were what I expected. They were able to match other flooring exactly that was installed 10 years ago. I am planning a third project for them to do this summer! If you have a flooring project (hardwood/laminate/tile) you should consider them!

We haven't completed the project

After receiving several bids for hardwood floor installation, Jim McCool came to our home where he took measurements and discussed all the hardwood floor options, etc. We decided to choose Jim McCool based on his bid and the Angie's list report. We had already decided to purchase the flooring at Panel Town in Columbus and Jim met us there the next week to help us and advise us in our selection which took approximately 2 hours. We had tile installed in the kitchen before the hardwood flooring was started and Jim worked around our schedule which made everything go much smoother. Jim and his crew were very professional and the installation was finished on time. They cleaned up at the end of each day and even hauled away debris that wasn't from their job. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and the overall experience!

Jim and his two installers completed the job in two days. They were excellent. The job had some challenges including the depth of concrete in entrance way. Jim actually placed order with Panel Town and advised when to have wood delivered. Flooring looks even better than I could have imagined. No more carpet cleaning. Jim always returned phone calls promptly and was helpful with suggestions. I decided to put tile around fireplace at his suggestion. The overall cost - labor + materials was less than I'd anticipated and the improvement is a forever one. I can't recommend Jim McCool highly enough.

Jim and his crew were punctual, professional and did a great job. He took care of some additional minor woodworking that we needed repaired as well. We would not hesitate to recommend Jim to anyone and would definitely hire him again.
