Make a List Handy Man Services is professional and they did a good job. They are trustworthy.

Brian was very responsive when we inquired about whether he would able to do the work. We were under a time crunch and so he was able to schedule the work quickly. On the first day, they came out and were able to repair the hole(s) made by the plumber and did a very nice job with drywall and plastering the seams. The biggest challenge had to do with our textured ceiling, which is notoriously difficult to match (not just our pattern, any pattern) and finding the "topping" compound that matched our ceiling most closely. One the first visit, they attempted to match the texture 3 times, without any prompting from us, as it didn't match as closely as we would like. After the final attempt, we agreed to wait for it to dry and then re-evaluate the need for recompleting the texturing. After a couple days, it became apparent that the color would not match (new compound was more gray than white) and the texture was very different from our ceiling. So we called Brian on a Thursday or Friday and expressed our concerns. He called back quickly, as before, and was able to schedule to come out the on the following Tuesday (Christmas Eve) after he doing more research and investigation about the topping compound and the texture brush (I sent him photos of the ceiling texture and the holes prior to the first time, at his request, to provide a more accurate estimate). On the 2nd visit, they had brought a new compound and a new texture brush. During this visit, they sanded down the prior work (a little dusty and nothing was covered) and then started again with the new materials and equipment. The results of the 2nd visit were much, much better (and were commented on by a painter as being really very good work)- the color was very close and the texture was probably as good as it was going to get. So, overall, we were very happy with their work, particularly their interest and effort in doing their best and getting it right. We do wish they had done a little more research or pre-planning before their 1st visit to make sure they got the color and pattern correct. Some of this may have been due to our tight timeline, but if that step is necessary or important to do beforehand, then it is important to let the customer know (especially if we don't have that knowledge about what is needed).

Scheduled professionally. Arrived on time. Patched a couple of ceiling spots damaged by water. Job done well. Cleaned up after himself well. Expectations met.

2 guys, took about 7 hours. Professionally done. Excellent clean up. Price seemed very reasonable as it was lower than another handyman quote we got (who is also on angies list with a good rating). We had sent a list of things we needed done and they quoted it would be between $600 and $800, final charge was $600.

He wined about getting ripped off and how he was losing money. He also did not want to schedule the work to get performed.

Great! The microwave installation involved cutting some very hard quartz tile which took awhile. Most installers would walk away from that, but Brian did not.

I will definitely call this company again! The workers were very polite, they did an excellent job and they cleaned up after themselves.

This was a "Big Deal" purchase, which helped with the price. I supplied the paint. The job went great - painters were quick and professional, with no mess to clean up afterward. Very pleased with results, would use them again (ideally with a "Big Deal" purchase to save $).

I purchased the Big Deal for 3 hours of drywall. Due to the number of projects I had, I knew it would require a walk through prior to ensure they had all of the supplies they needed prior to starting to the work, I told Brian the owner that I could buy these and have them ready. When Brian arrived few days before the job to determine what I needed to buy, everything he told me he advised that he would need to get them to ensure the right items were purchased. I like to control the cost and make sure I'm not getting upcharged for things so I didn't really care for that. However, I agreed. He said he charged by the hour for some things but charged by the job for others. I told him I didnt want to spend over $1000 and he said that was about what he would charge but he would give me an itemized bill at the end. The job started and after he and his workman Jeff reviewed the closet, they determined that they would need special materials for it since the wall had plaster on it. They both left and were gone for at least 2 hours. I didnt understand why they both had to leave when I had about 7 other jobs for them to do and one of them could have stayed and completed some of those while the other person purchased the supplies. Once they came back, Jeff immediately went to work. He worked very hard the entire time he was here. Brian left and I never saw him the remainder of the day. They showed up the following day to finish the work - which is what we agreed on - and again, Jeff worked hard and never stopped the entire day. Brian came and went and spent a lot of time trying to talk to me about how strong the rod was he was putting in the closet, how he was repairing the cabinet, etc. even though I made it very clear I was working from home. While working, I really didnt want to be distrurbed and if I'm paying by the hour, I wanted to see more work and a lot less talk. Brian disappeared for long period of times. Jeff - luckily - kept working, I had initially told Brian I wanted the closet painted after drywalling but he said they couldnt get that done. However, had he actually worked with Jeff rather than standing by his truck several times, it could have been completed. At the end of the job, Brian said he would email me the bill. I never heard from him for a few days so I emailed him and he said he was behind on his billing. I then got a call from him at 4:00pm on a Friday asking if he could come by and pick up his money. He emailed me the bill and it was NOT itemized and was $200 more than what we discussed. Everyone wants to know the cost up front so that there are no surprises. While the work was satisfactory, had Jeff not been there, I know the job would have taken much longer if Brian had worked alone. I liked Brian but when your paying people by the hour, you want work and no talk unless it is a question about the job, Since he didnt complete the painting that I had originally asked for, I had to do that myself but I probably finished it in a lot less time then he would have.

We were able to schedule the first visit and the drywall was replaced and mudded. A few weeks passed and we called them back to schedule completion of the job. They only work between 9-4 M-F. Our daughter was able to be at the house and after 4 hours they still did not complete the job. The work so far appears to be good and most of the work is completed but we still need to have a final sanding and mudding occur. We have tried to contact them multiple times to schedule the final visit to complete the job. The owner told us he would call to schedule completion when he has someone in the area. We have not heard from him. We left voice messages but have not received a call back. The job remains unfinished. We are now looking for another company to finish the job.

There was a mix-up with where the person was to go. However he called me and I gave him the correct address. He added the time onto the job since it was their mix-up. He was able to get 90% of the job done in the purchased time . He showed me what I needed to do to complete it. That worked out fine since I'm fairy handy.

They wound up fixing everything okay, we had a hard time getting in touch with them. We had an appointment set up, and they didn't come to the right place, because they didn't right down where I told them to come. The actual work done was very good, but the communication was not good. Anyone wanting to use them, should make sure that they know exactly what is done and where it is to be done. I own two houses, and they came to my house, and not to my sons house, where I wanted the work done, and so I waited for 2 hours, they had called my phone here and left messages, that they were here. Then we had to reschedule and I think they did a very good job. It took 3 times for us to get the work done, and I was on the verge of saying I didn't want to use the big deal. I had other things to do, and I thought that he had my cell phone, which he didn't it seems.The guy who came did a really good job of cleaning up and repairing the hole in the wall that we had.

I would highly recommend this service provider for any work that needs to be done around your house. They are professional, courteous and most importantly they know what they are doing. If you want a job done right the first time, then Make-A-List is the answer. I originally purchased the big deal with the intention of getting some odd jobs around the house done like hanging some blinds, re-caulking my shower and fixing a cabinet door. After getting an estimate for my damaged room we decided to hire them for that as well, and it was the best decision I've made in a while. The quality of the finished work is impeccable, they pay great attention to detail- it looks better than before the leak. The little things they did, like lay down protective plastic from the front door all the way to the area they were working to prevent any damage to my floors, to their polite demeanor, to the finished product. I would hire them again in an instant!

Their work was excellent, they were responsive, and came out to our property the next day.

It went very well. They answered all of my questions prior to coming. They came on time. They moved all of my heavy furniture into the middle of the room and tarped it. Although they were fast, I had to leave before they were finished. When I came home, my furniture was returned to it's previous placement, they left the remaining paint and everything was in order. The room looks great and we are very happy.

These guys were great! They really cared about doing a great job, and it shows! They were on time, finished the job even though it took longer than expected, and came back to finish the final detail work later. They squeezed me into their tight schedule in order to get the job done quickly. The finished result is amazing, it looks like new! I would definitely recommend them!

Brian, Jeff and Russ were great! They made two trips to the hardware store to get the parts needed to make repairs and gave me clear directions on what I needed to order for the dishwasher. I would call Make A List again for any repair.

They didn't show up to the first appointment they made. I had to call him back after several times. Finally he came out after several delays and he acted like he did not want to be bothered. It seemed like he was just trying to scare me off. I felt like he gave a half effort.

I purchased the Big Deal on a Sunday evening and Brian called the next morning to schedule. I had a large list and sent it to him so he could be sure to have the right supplies loaded on his truck. Brian and employee arrived on time. We reviewed my list and picked a few items to be done that day. I needed to pick out a doorbell cover so I ran to the store to buy it while they continued working. I was completely comfortable leaving them alone. My list was longer than the deal time I purchased so Brian will be coming back to complete the rest of my list.

Work was done fast and to a high standard. He then looked at out Garage and step and wooden awning and said he could do the work and would get a quote to us. It has been 5 weeks now an no quote has appeared. We also asked him for a quote before and yet again we never recieved it or heard anything more from him. Not happy that there was no follow up and we will now hire another person to do the job he said he could do for us. For this reason I would not use this provider again in the future as quotes are not forthcoming and unreliable. Otherwise they did a good job.

Everything went great. Would definitely like the handyman to do work in the future on our house. Very professional, conscientious, and meticulous. We are so grateful to the handyman for how much better our house looks. It looks 5 years younger than it did previously. We are also grateful to Angie's List for listing this company. Thank you.
