Logan Services A/C, Heat & Plumbing

I called Logan Services to come out and check out my A/C for the season. Logan?s Technician told me that I needed 2 new capacitors and a new contactor for my A/C. His suggestion was that I should consider purchasing a new system since my equipment was 18 years old. The problem I had with that was that his quote for the new system was only good for 1 week before an impending price increase. I felt that the company should at least be willing to stand with the price for 30 days. One week wouldn?t give me time to get other quotes or advice from other contractors so I decided to take more time to evaluate the situation and be sure that I was making the right decision, despite any monetary gains I might be losing out on. I called another HVAC contractor to come out and quote a new system. The 2nd contractor explained to me how the systems perform as they age. It was clear to me during the conversation that the 2nd contractor was interested in what was right for his customers, whether that meant repairing their current equipment or selling them a new system. I asked them to come back to replace the contactor in my A/C, in addition to quoting me on a new HVAC system. When they came out they determined that my A/C didn?t require any repairs. The picture they took of the contactor wasn?t dark like the one taken by the Logan Services Technician. In other words, the contactor wasn?t burned from arcing. Pictures can be affected by light and Logan?s picture was taken on a cloudy day, however it should have been clear to the Technician visually. This was a deception that would have placed a significant financial burden on me so I?m glad I didn?t just accept it without question. Logan Services might be fine to call if you are looking for a new system but if you want choices including maintenance I wouldn?t recommend them.

Everything went really well. They were upfront and honest, they did a good job with the installations, and they acted professionally.

During an annual checkup on our HVAC system service representatives identified a high level of CO in the exhaust gasses of the furnace. They recommended shutting down the furnace. They provided an estimate for a replacement system, including furnace and A/C. Service representatives could not answer questions about the potential causes of high CO in exhaust when inside air tested acceptably, repeatedly stating that the heat exchanger probably had a hole in it. They acknowledged that the inside air was safe, but still recommended shutting down the furnace because they said they were supposed to make that recommendation. The estimate received (for Trane products) was more than 30% higher than the next estimate we received for comparable equipment (for Lennox products) and services from a competitor. There was no follow up on the estimate or furnace condition from Logan. ----------------------------- After posting my initial review for Logan I was contacted by a company representative to discuss our experience. The representative was able to answer all of my questions and provided a valuable insight into the events. I modified my review based on this discussion and concluded that my experience was likely not representative of all of Logan's customers.

They are good to work with and very reliable. They have good service and are punctual.

Sales and installation gentlemen were very nice, informative, and professional. (However, there was a mess in the basement like a powder explosion or something. It came up well for us, though). I did like that they keep your original pipes (if they're in good condition, of course). Other companies replace them with thinner walled pipes. One issue I have is I was told that the system installation came with a 1 yr maintenance agreement and they would replace the filters. I just found out that is not the case. Neither one. There is a follow up to ensure the installation was done correctly, but that's it. Any filters can be replaced if provided by the owner (which can easily be done by the owner). Also, the basement window screen was not put back after installation as they must've used that window to bring in equipment.

Everything went great except they did not clean up the mess they made downstairs all the way.

They are quick and efficient. They are a good company to work with. I met them initially at the home and garden show. During the installation he was drilling through the outside and while he was coming through the basement wall he punctured a major power cord. He had to rewire the cords for me. They do good work and clean up afterwards.

It started with a Home Depot add. They advertised installation at Home Depot so I went home and got on Angie's list to check their reviews. Everything that I reviewed was excellent so I called to set up the appointment. They came out and gave me an estimate and scheduled a date for the install. They were mostly on time with everything they did. When I say mostly they missed the mark by about 2 hours. In the grand scheme of things that was not a big deal. They were able to set it up and have it up and running in 1 day. (although they were there until 9pm at night working on it.) After a few days I noticed that I had water leaking from the drain pan. I called them and they set up an appointment for 2 days later. When the guy finally showed up he had no equipment with him not even a flashlight. He looked it over and told me that he needed to make a phone call and would be right back in. After 15 minutes or so he came back in and told me that he would be back tomorrow with some tools to fix the problem. He told me that they would have to reseal the lower unit ( I have a downdraft system). He told me to continue using it as necessary. The next day he did come back and reseal the unit. For a few days the problem was gone. I did notice though that the house was not getting cool and I could hear the outside unit running even when the inside unit was shut off. The water was starting to leak again so I called them back. They came out later that week because I had to go out of town on business and wanted to be there to see what was going on. When they got there they spent an hour or so diagnosing the issue. What they found was a wiring issue inside the unit. It was causing the compressor to run all of the time and freezing up the inside unit. This is what was causing the leak and the lack of really cool air. After that was fixed I waited a few days to make sure nothing else was going to go wrong before I put the washer/dryer and dishwasher back in place. This is where I ran into another problem. When they installed the new unit they didn't run the copper line exactly where the old ones had been. This made it so that I could not fit everything back where it was. I had to call them again and they came back out to see what the problem was. Once I explained it to them and showed them the issue they were glad to redo it for me. They scheduled a date and came back out to repair the issue. I was not home but my wife and son were. Not only did they fix the copper lines but the moved the washer/dryer and dishwasher back into place and hooked everything up. I know it sounds like a lot of issues but I have to say that Logan Services did exactly what they said they would do. I live in an old house and I am used to things not going as planned. I would highly recommend them for any repairs. They people were very courteous and considerate. The reason I waited so long to post a review is I wanted to make sure that the furnace worked as well and everything is as good as gold. I have recommended them to my neighbors and I will use them in the future. Great company and great people.

They were a no call no show. I called them and they said they had no record of my appointment. I went back to my office and found who I spoke to and when the appointment was scheduled. They apologized. They dropped the ball.

Very hot and humid day. Two representatives came right on time and dis assembled my old unit and replaced it with the new Trane. Very efficent. I provided bottle water for them. New system is so quiet. My electric bills are lower and I am quite pleased.

Our estimate was arranged just a couple days after calling. He was very knowledgeable and not "pushy." He did do a little "overselling" of the company and the product (we had already done our research, and knew the product was what we wanted, just not the exact model, and that the company got good ratings from customers.) I forgave him of that. ;-) He gave me estimates, then helped me decide on which models we wanted, then we scheduled for install. We could have had it installed the next day, but we couldn't do that due to our schedules. We agreed on 2 days later. The crew came out on time, were clean and friendly. Even though we had 3 people in and out of our house for a few hours, they were not noisy except for the inevitable tool sounds. The job got done in approximately 4 1/2 hours, start to finish, which was faster than I expected. All the mess was cleaned up, and they walked me through each piece on how it worked. The house was immediately cooler than our old system (it was too small for the house even when new,) and I could tell a big difference in the second story rooms. Although I don't want the cold Ohio winter to hurry up, I can't wait to see how well the furnace works! So far so good on the system, and I'd definitely use them again if needed!

We were away on vacation and our outside AC unit fan and bearings failed. Since the system was 20 years old we knew it was time for a replacement. We had several companies come to give us estimates. Logan was the only one whose salesman, Mike, sat down and actually educated us on options that are now available. They were not the lowest bid but we felt they were the best value. Due to high demand in mid August they didn't have the unit we ordered in stock. It would be two days before they could get the unit. Two of the hottest days of the year. The salesman brought a window air conditioner for us to use in the bedroom. That kept us in the house and not at a hotel. A big savings and certainly over and above what we expected. On the day of installation the installers arrived on time and got right to work. Like many other reviews we were impressed with their work ethic and cleanliness. When all was said and done it was a smooth and flawless job. We would definitely use them again and will highly recommend them. Our home has never been more comfortable and we can't believe how quiet both the outside and inside units are! Thanks for a great job!

Sales guy was very knowledgable and the installers were very professional.

After one year, I've had significant decrease in both electric and gas cost. Unit doing well and no problems.

They discovered a problem with the thermostat wiring and corrected it as part of the service.

They were very professional and courteous.

My air handler was completely rusted out from top to bottom because the previous owner of the house did not repair a leak. I had to get a whole new system. Logan was great. Their people are knowledgeable and did not try to talk me into the most expensive system. They also offer no interest financing with a Home Projects Visa from Wells Fargo.

The installation was perfect! The installers were prompt, polite, professional and pleasant to be around. They were brothers, Kevin and Sean and it was obvious that they have worked together for a long time and were very well versed in their area of expertise. If I had any questions about the process or how something worked they had no problem giving me an explanation making sure I understood and that they had answered my question to fullest satisfaction. I was also very impressed at how clean they left all areas they worked in that day. I was extremely impressed with them. i would highly recommend using Logan!

They set up an appointment the next day and put the broken parts in it. It only took about 15 minutes. My house is cool and no problems. I would use again

They did excellent. He was there on time. He cleaned it and got it ready to go. He was real nice. They are very reasonably priced.

They tuned-up an old A/C unit and gave me advice on keeping it running. I purchased the maintenance plan which includes another tune-up in the fall. I was very pleased with the service and will continue to use them in the future.

The gentlemen who installed the new system were prompt, polite, and friendly. They were kind to my animals (we have a lot of pets) without being intrusive in their space. They were careful of my children (3 and 2 years, respectively), and let them watch as much as they safely could. They answered my questions, and my 3 year old's questions, with reasonable answers and took time to explain things. I appreciate, GREATLY, when someone defines new vocabulary, and takes the time to explain how things work (or, as the case may be, fail to work). The return air duct to my old system was incompatable with the new system. I was rather surprised to see the workers shurg a bit, and go to their van, pull some things out, and just fabricate new ducts. They even closed the gate to the back yard when they were done. That's actually kind of hard at the moment, and I had simply asked them to tell me when they were done. Seems most service providers forget the gate, so when they finished and left without saying anything, I went out to close it before the dog got out. Already done! The details (gate, treatment of animals/kids, etc) added to the job being done as we agreed, prompt me to give Logan's high marks for their work. I do indeed recommend them to friends, and would use them again if needed (though with a new system, I really hope to not need anyone out for a while!).

Their service is great. We purchased a package for general maintenance and tune ups each year. They come every spring and fall to ensure that everything is running correctly. They show up on time and provide email reminders. They also have a good scheduling process.
