Kirkpatrick Painting

Description of Work: Took deposit...did not do work...dragged on for months...he owes Porter and Sherwin Williams so much money he is not allowed to buy on account there. He took deposit for 3 jobs and was a no show. Bailed with the cash.

Description of Work: Roy and his brother Charlie presented themselves as a family owned, stable, professional painting company. I own several properties, so I decided to give them a shot at some work. The rates were reasonable so I took a chance. In December of 2010, I contracted with them to do the interior of the first house. There were constant delays and a multitude of excuses as to why the work was not getting done, however, the reasons seemed believable, so I cut them slack. Excuses included, the house was too cold to roll paint, snowed in, sick, etc.. We had a new furnace and was not sure why they did not turn the heat up but it is what it is. Overall the work appeared to be acceptable, but it was after several go-overs where I pointed out entire walls they missed. Now over 8 months later there are still areas they have not come back to fix. In April of 2011, I was in buying mode and purchased two more houses and had another that needed painted. I paid Roy deposits for each house. I decided later that I did not want one painted, so he said he would apply the deposit to the other two. One house he completely bailed on, leaving me 4 months behind in getting it on the market as I waited through all of his excuses. The third house, we are on the 4th month of "I will be there tomorrow", "I am a man of my word - I told you I will be done on Saturday", etc. blah, blah blah. Excuses included, had to go out of town, sick, son in hospital and more! I am now in the process of taking him to court. The irony of it is that on his website it says things like, "dont't let folks other painters cheat you", "get quality work,etc." This is bull...they do mediocre work, you have to watch their every step, he will take your money and take 6 months to paint a house.He does work for MI/Homes....not sure how such a reputabable company would use such a hack.
