 + -1 moreDON'T ALLOW WORDS LIKE 'AS NECESSARY' IN THEIR CONTRACTS. NOTHING IS NECESSARY! E.G. NEW GUTTER GUARDS ARE NOT NECESSARY TO REPLACE OLD ONE THAT ARE BREAKING UP, IF HE HAS TO GET THEM. GET A DEFINITE END DATE. WITHHOLD ALL PAYMENT UNTIL WORK IS COMPLETED TO YOUR CRITICAL SATISFACTION. IF DOING PAINTING, MAKE SURE THEY DO IT RIGHT AND CLEAN UP AFTER THEM.
Description of Work: HAD A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE AROUND OUR HOUSE. TIM SAID HE WOULD DO IT ALL. GAVE A QUOTE. I AGREED TO IT. DID ONLY PART OF THE WORK, SAID THE LANDSCAPING WORK WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE IN SPRING (IT WAS ALMOST WINTER AT THAT TIME). TOOK THE PAYMENT AND DISAPPEARED. DID NOT COME BACK IN SPRING. DID NOT ANSWER CALLS. WHEN WE FINALLY DID GET HIM ON THE PHONE, SAID OH YES, HE WOULD COME OUT TO FINISH IT. FOUR WEEKS LATER STILL WAS NOT DONE. WE EVENTUALLY HAD TO HIRE ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO DO IT. OUR NEIGHBOR HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. AVOIDABLE.
