Hometown Handyman was represented by Ando Johnson. I called in early September 2011 and set an appointment. Ando came out two weeks (Sept 15) later for the appointment and talked with me about the stuff I needed for an estimate based on the list of things I showed him. He emailed me the estimate a few days later for $430, which I found agreeable. In that time I followed his advice, took back the door lock I had bought (it was totally wrong for the job) and bought another lock at a small place that had the door hardware I needed (Ando referred me to this small place and I located it on the internet) . He came out in early October to do the work, which took several days for him to get to everything. He asked my opinion on how my wife and I wanted the closet organizer to look, and he made the organizer look exactly like what we wanted. The kitchen drawer fix took a long time for him as Ando had to drive to five different stores to find hardware that would fit my older style kitchen cabinets. He then worked with me to figure out what type of mailbox I wanted. After talking to him I took back the mailbox I bought originally and got another one. He did a great job with the mailbox - he figured out how to put some custom numbers on my mailbox - which took him a long time to do. My neighbors have been complimenting our new mailbox since. Even though I had made a list of repairs beforehand, I also asked Ando to give my entire house and yard a lookover to see if there was more work to be done. Ando thought most things looked great, but he was careful to point out small things to improve the house that I could undertake myself.. He finished everything on October 6. The repairs went over budget, but Ando settled for $450, which I think was probably too fair to me! I had a great experience with Ando, as I now know a lot more about my house than I did before I met him.

Ando was very courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. His price was reasonable and he didn't demand money up front. That surprised me. He always answered his phone when I called. I have never had anyone work for me that was as nice as Ando. I was very impressed with him.

The Hometown Handyman provided friendly, professional, annd highly competent service. It was a real pleasure to deal with Ando. He and an assistant arrived on-time, discussed all details of the job and and worked to effectively repair the roof. When some issues were encountered on the ceiling (e.g., old mud that wouldn't stick to new mud) Ando know exactly what to do and got the job done. We really enjoyed having Ando work in our house and hired him for another drywall repair job inside.

Ando called within a few hours of submitting the online request. He followed up quickly and made sure that the repair was sound as well as asthetically pleasing. We will contact him again for home repairs and maintenance.

Ando built two book cases, a file cabinet, and caulked the sink counter backsplash in 3 hours and for the price of $150. I was very pleased with his attention to details, high quality work, courteousness and professionalism!

We initially called Ando to repair a doorbell and a toilet, and for an estimate on installing flourescent lights in the basement of my daughter's house in Columbus. When he came to fix the doorbell, the toilet had already fixed itself, and Ando suggested that rather than going through the expense of installing ceiling lights we try higher wattage bulbs in the basement pole lamp. We then asked Ando to give us an estimate on putting up crown molding in a bathroom. While walking through the house he noted that in many rooms there were cracks where the ceiling met the walls, and the fan blades were loose on my daughter's fan, which he immediately tightened. (We tried the brighter bulbs in the basement and they worked). A few days later Ando sent us an estimate which seemed reasonable, so we asked him to do the work. My daughter was incredibly pleased with the work Ando did. He was at her house on three days and went above and beyond what he had agreed to do. While he was there the toilet broke again and he fixed it. He fixed the cracks in the living room cathedral ceiling and plastered a large area on a bedroom wall, and the cracks where ceiling met wall throughout the house. He bought the crown molding for the bathroom, my daughter primed it and he installed it. She was to paint the final coat after it was installed but Ando painted that too. He not only tightened the fans and light fixtures, he cleaned them. There was a futon in pieces in the basement we were trying to repair. He bought the specialty bolts for it, put it together and with my daughter's help carried it upstairs and put it in place in a bedroom. My daughter is an artist and needed spindles cut, he cut 20 spindles for her with a power saw. While he was working at her house, my daughter had a friend call whose hot water heater had broken. Ando and a friend went to her house the next morning and fixed the water heater. Ando was upbeat and cheerful, friendly to my daughter's dog (he let him out of the cage since he was barking then the dog returned the kindness by chewing up one of his paint rollers.) He did a terrific job and went above and beyond what was asked of him and only charged a very few dollars more for the extra work. My daughter was so pleased with his work that we paid Ando more than the amount billed.

Ando is awesome. He started by giving us a very reasonable bid, but he was a bit late that day. He knew we were anxious to get the work done so he scheduled us for late on a Friday night. He ended up finishing his previous job later then expected and rescheduling for the next day. The next day he and his partner came and got started. His partner installed the new baseboards while he got to work on our sink. In addition to cutting and installing them, they caulked the cracks and puttied the nail holes. I appriciated their attention to detail and quality! He offered to setup the plumbing for our sink and fixed the faucet I had installed backwards (don't ask) without charging us. He is a super nice guy and really was very very helpful. They also fixed the basement door which had refused to latch. The baseboards look great, the door is functioning well and the plumbing is working great as well. He was kind enough to point out flaws in the caulking that were causing leaks (done by someone else) and explained what I could do to fix it. My only word of warning is that he has a tendency to run late. This is not a deal breaker for me, I will certainly use him again.

Mr Johnson arrived within the time frame we agreed on. He was very out going and eager to see the work needed done. We had had an egress window installed and the contractor had fouled the job and had not been able to correct his mistakes. We had to then find someone to help us fix an ugly error and Mr Johnson was willing to see if any work could be done to correct the mess. After removing the board covering the previous casement window , he determined that to fix the poor workmanship would cost close to $1000. Mr Johnson then began chaulking and explaining how to fix it without tearing everything out and told us that we were to watch out for cracking and how to seal it up . He charged us nothing for his services and even explained diy items around the house to do. We will be having him back!

I called them for an estimate, but I have not made a decision. They both In a timely manner, and we're both very professional.

Excellent job - would definitely use Ando again. He showed up on time to quote the job, showed up when he said to do the job and did an excellent quality piece of work for me.

I was able to reach Ando on the very first call I made. He was very professional and scheduled a time to come out the next day. We had a moldy wet spot at the base of a shower where it had been leaking. Also other odd jobs that needed done He was very very professional and the work he did was awesome. He did most work on the same day he came out to do the estimate. We had to order a piece of molding that came in the next week and he came right back out and finished everything up. He was very considerate, professional and reasonable. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Ando was great. We had three estimates to remodel two bathrooms and all were fairly close together but Ando seemed to click with us. He had a lot of good ideas, he was aware of the various pitfalls and advised us ahead of time of various issues we needed to consider. Of course both bathrooms required much more work than initially estimated, both turned into complete gutting of the bathrooms. Our second bathroom provided a particular challenge. Ando designed a glass block wall to which we attached an exposed Victorian shower. Ando did a great job tiling both bathrooms and laying linoleum. We plan on using Ando for many other jobs in the near future.

I had Ando come out to do an estimate on extensive remodeling to my house....What a great guy! He is clearly very passionate about his work and I can tell is someone who does top notch work. I would not hesitate to use him in the future, but took my project in a different direction. He is someone who, as a single woman, I would not hesitate to have in my house. Really great experience with him.

I emailed a request to be contacted for an estimate over a weekend. Received a call first thing Monday morning. He scheduled a time to meet the same evening. He was running late, but did call to apologize and let me know what time he would arrive, which wasn't a problem at all. I walked him through the house and showed him the various projects that needed done. He was very informative as to the best ways to approach the repairs and I felt confident that he was more than capable of making them. He advised when I should expect to have an estimate via email. That was the last time I heard from him and never received the estimate.

They arrived on time, got right to work, worked so quietly I didn't even hear them, wore booties to protect the floor and were extremely careful about everything. They did the dishwasher first since it was going to be the biggest challenge. It was a very tight fit but they did not give up and finaly got it in just fine. The compactor and garbage disposal were completed next. They cleaned up EVERYTHING including taking away all the packing materials and the old appliances. If appliance still works, they call Habitat for Humanity. The place was spotless when they were finished. They provided us with a few explanations, answered all our questions and arranged all the paper work for each item. They were finished much sooner than we thought possible. Every appliance was run through to make sure operation was perfect...and it was. A couple of their hints will help us as well. My husband and I agreed that they did not charge us enough for all the work they did and in the amount of time they did it in. Would recommend them without any reservations at all. Besides they are very nice people. Kudos to Ando! As when any good technician comes to the house, you always think of other jobs. Ando took a look at them and has arranged to be back tomorrow to do them. He also noticed a slight leak in our sink faucet, showed it to us, and recommended that we replace it. They even helped us on line picking out the right replacement. They are just too good to be true and I am very glad there is such a thing as Angie's list where I can brag to others although I would be unhappy if he got so busy that he wouldn't have the fast resonse time for us in the future. Grab this one!

He attached the antenna to my roof and the cable went from the antenna down the side of the house to the interior of my office on the first floor. He grounded the antenna. He painted the cable so it did not detract from the appearance of the house. The antenna performs in an excellent manner. He is very professional, prompt and neat. He did an outstanding job.

He was very meticulous and clean. He sticks to his estimate. If he needs to go over he will let me know first.

He came out on short notice on the weekend. He seemed to have ample knowledge of materials and techniques, and the skill and pride in his work to perform the job to my satisfaction. He listened to what I wanted and also made suggestions where appropriate. If he hadn't called it to my attention and repalced the pipe the plumber had installed, I'm sure I would have been cursing the plumber every time rust dripped out of the faucet! Ando also has an eye for style, and the work he did blended in well with my old house. He was careful not to damage or dirty anything and he cleaned up after himself. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome, and would definitely hire him again.

All the work was done excellently, quickly and at a very good price. I needed to fix my door quickly. I was given Ando Johnson's number by another respected handyman because he couldn't do it that soon. He fit me into his schedule, got the work done quickly and with great craftsmanship. He then came back later to hang a new porch door and correct a handrail. I am very satisfied and I will call Hometown Handyman for any future work.

Great-Ando does a great job and is extremely careful. He is meticulous, almost to a fault, and wants the customer to be pleased with the work.

This man is an exceptional and talented worker. He keeps up on the latest things that are introduced in his business. He and his workers are honest, fantastic, accomplished, and knowledgeable. If the owner can't come out himself, he will send one of his people to do the work. If you utilize his services and pass his name on to someone else, he will give you a discount.
