December 2006: ordered lighting from Home Lighting Center for new condo construction and paid approximately $1860 (builder to be responsible for the balance). May 2007: builder became financially unable to complete the condo project. September 2007: I contacted Home Lighting Center by both phone and email to request a refund. Due to lack of response, I had to go to their place of business - I was told about the difficulty of returning some of the lighting (which were special-order items) to the manufacturers, and was told they were working on it. Didn't hear anything for 2 weeks; went to the store again. Expressed my displeasure at their lack of communication. I later emailed the sales rep a proposed compromise to resolve the situation. October 2007: Still no response. December 2007:? I finally received a refund according to the compromise I proposed to the company in September.? Based on this, I am raising the grade for Responsiveness from F to C.

They did an absolutely fabulous job and the showroom looks great because of them. They helped us stay within budget. It came packaged specifically for each area of our showroom, but they handled it well. They were extremely responsive with any problems occurring along the way.

Sales associate told us the lamp was available from the manufacturer but we would have to wait until their next bulk order was placed to avoid shipping costs. We agreed & were told the next bulk order would be made at the end of the week, & that our product should arrive in 2-3 weeks. Two months later, we still do not have our lamp, despite 2 phone calls & an in-store visit to check on the status. The sales associate who finally placed a call to the manufacturer discovered the lamp was backordered & had been for months. Had the first 3 staff members actually "checked" the reason for the delay, we could have moved in a different direction 2 months earlier. When you call to "check" on your order, spell it out that you want someone to physically contact the producer of the item to determine its whereabouts. They usually do a nice job, someone was just too lazy to do the legwork on this order.

The items ordered came in when the salesman said they would. Installers were on time, neat, clean, polite and professional.
