Pretty sure they went out of business because they were so bad. They really messed up everything and caught nothing. Didn't know how anything and didn't find out until after I purchased the home. Please never use these people. Its a one/two man team so I am sure they may try to change their name and do it again.

At the time of using this company I was a first time home buyer, so I really did not know what I was looking at. I felt confident at the time that this company was good. He had me sign a form that I couldnt sue him after the inspection. I didn't get a copy. Told me what the house was made of, ie cast iron, cement shingle, brick, etc. Did not tell me that the roof was bad, actually told me that the roof had about five more years left. It actually had visible leaks and damage resulting form it that was pointed out to me at a later point by multiple people. Later found out that he didn't go into attic (told me himself at better business dispute meeting) because it wasn't safe because it wasn't finished attic, I go up there and it is a normal unfinished attic. He also said he didn't go on roof, during the dispute at the BBB, becasue it is not safe (there was no snow or ice). Also didn't catch that the electricity to house was on two circuits/fuses. He said he didn't catch that because it is against the rules to reset them, although they are also clearly labeled as being on the same ones. He didn't catch that the toilet was not secured onto the floor (it rocked and had no bolts under the caps) because the flange sits above the floor, the coil stock on the roof was not properly put on; it was wrapped around the gutters which allowed the fascia around house to rot and have racoons livng in the attic. Half of the gutters were bad (rusted out from the inside because they were unfinished steel) and the sewer stack pipe in the basement was rusted out and detiorating. I was not present during the inspection because he told me (on a recorded line) having me there was going to take too much time. I tried to post these reviews on websites and he had them taken off, saying I was lying. I have photos, reciepts and recordings to back all of these claims. He also sat outside my house and took photos during the dispute period. These are major issues that I found out about after living in the house for three months, cost me tens of thousands of dollars to repair. I wouldn't not recommend this company. If I had known these were items wrong with the house I would not have bought it. I cried for a year. Still upsets me how much money I have lost and the amount of stress I went through trying to work with him through the better business bureau and fixing the house.
Description of Work: James came to my house and did an inspection while I was not there, as he instructed. I was driving by the house the entire time to make sure, he was there on time and in the house.

James and Roland were right on time for the inspection even though I was a bit late. When I arrived they were busy checking the house inside and out. I was a bit surprised they scheduled 4 hours to do the inspection but it is a 2500 sq foot house and they worked non-stop for the entire 4 hours checking everything. They even found some flying insect damage the termite inspector missed. They did a great job and I would use them again.

JAMES GAUGH SAID THE HOUSE HAD 60 AMP SERVICE WHEN IT REALLY HAS 100 AMP SERVICE. IT'S WRITTEN CLEARLY ON THE INSIDE OF THE ELECTRIC BOX. AN ANGIE'S LIST ELECTRICIAN SAID HE SHOULD'VE KNOWN THIS FROM SIMPLY LOOKING AT THE WIRES THAT COME OUT OF THE BOX. HE FAILED TO POINT OUT THAT WIRES, AND CORDS THAT COME OUT OF THE ELECTRIC BOX HAD BEEN NAILED TO A BOARD THAT FACES OUT SIDE WHERE SOMEONE COULD DRILL THROUGH, AND ELECTROCUTE THEMSELVES. HE FAILED TO NOTE AN ELECTRIC OUTLET THAT DOESN'T FUNCTION. HE DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE FRONT DOOR HANDLE WAS MISSING THREE SCREWS, AND BOTTOM HINGE IS LOOSE. I WAS NOT TOLD BEFORE HAND THAT MR GAUGH DID NOT INSPECT CHIMNEYS, AND AM NOW THE OWNER OF A CHIMNEY THAT NEEDS $3,300 IN REPAIRS DUE TO AN UNDISCLOSED FIRE. HE SAID THE FURNACE WAS "CLEAN" BUT WAS LATER TOLD IT MIGHT HAVE DRAWN CREOSOTE IN FROM THE FIRE-DAMAGED CHIMNEY. RECOMMENDED SECOND, AND UNNECESSARY TERMITE INSPECTION. DID NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAIL.

Response from Home Sleuth
THE MEMBER WAS PRESENT DURING THE ENTIRE INSPECTION. IT WAS CLEARLY STATED DURING THE INSPECTION, ON HIS INSPECTION REPORT FORM, AND THE WORK CONTRACT THAT HE SIGNED WITH THE COMPANY ITEMS THAT ARE WITHIN OR OUTSIDE THE SCOPE OF THE INSPECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH NATIONAL HOME INSPECTION ASSOCIATION STANDARDS OF PRACTICE AND CODES OF ETHICS. IN RESPONSE TO HIS ACCUSATIONS: THE ELECTRIC SERVICE PANEL WAS RATED AT 100 AMP. HOWEVER, THE HOME ONLY HAD A 60 AMP SERVICE. IT WAS STATED IN HIS REPORT THAT THE ENTRY DOOR WOULD BIND AND NEEDED ADJUSTMENT. IT WAS ALSO DISCLOSED THAT EVIDENCE OF POSSIBLE WOOD BORING INSECT DAMAGE WAS NOTED, AND THIS INSPECTOR WAS UNAWARE THAT A PREVIOUS TERMITE INSPECTION HAD BEEN CONDUCTED ON THE HOME. UNABLE TO DETECT ANY "CREOSOTE" BUILD UP ON THE FURNACE DUE TO THE CLEARLY STATED FACT THAT INVASIVE OR DESTRUCTIVE MEASURES ARE OUTSIDE THE SCOPE OF THE INSPECTION. RECOMMENDED A CLEANING AND SERVICE BY A HVAC PROFESSIONAL THE DAY OF THE INSPECTION. THE PRESENCE OF THE CHIMNEY WAS NEVER STATED WHEN THE INSPECTION WAS SCHEDULED AND THIS COMPANY TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS CONDITION AS THAT IS NOT AN OFFERED SERVICE. STATEMENTS IN THE SIGNED CONTRACT THAT THE MEMBER IGNORED OR DISREGARDED INCLUDE AN AGREEMENT THAT ANY CLAIM OF FAILURE UPON THE INSPECTOR'S PERFORMANCE BE MADE IN WRITING WITHIN 10 DAYS. NONE OF THAT WAS DONE ON HIS PART, HOWEVER HE DID MAKE REPEATED THREATENING AND VULGAR CALLS AS WELL AS EMAILS OUTSIDE OF THAT PERIOD.
