Hetter Heating & Cooling

We had e-mailed back and forth with Rick Hettersheidt of Hetter Heating and Coolilng a couple of months ago. He seemed more than happy to work with us and assured us they would be available when we decided to move forward with our project. We contacted him last week, via e mail, and scheduled for him to come out and give us an estimate at 5:30 PM on April 15th. He showed up late, at 6:00 PM, but that happens sometimes. Don't fault him for this. He was at our house for about an hour. We asked him for a few options and he said to give him a couple days and he would e-mail the information!! Finally, today we got a response. This was 5 days later. We aren't stupid. We feel he got overwhelmed by all of our questions and backed out saying he couldn't be of help to us because of our location, distance to the company. If you live in Delaware County, our advise to people is do not call Hetter Heating and Cooling because they don't cover this area. We were really leaning towards using this company because of preliminary quote given, and reputation on Angie's List. We know that Hetter Heating and Cooling representatives read these reviews and aren't trying to be difficult. We don't buy furnace systems everyday and therefore had many questions and wanted to explore all options.

They follow up and whenever they say they are going to do something, they do it.

Hetter did warranty work for Bradford White water heaters. They were great on the phone, and came out within 2 buisness days to do the work. They replaced the water heater. They finished the job in 1 hour and 45 mins. There were profefssional. There was no mess after the job. Water heater seems to be working fine.

We already have a contract with them. However, we had a lot of trouble with their furnace, and it is taking them a lot to figure out what the problem is. No one caught the problem until this last guy. I wish they had caught the problem sooner. We have used them for two years and it has taken them a while to figure out what the problem was.

It was an excellent experience overall beginning with Rick Hetterscheidt coming to my home for the estimate on replacing my furnace, air conditioner and installing a chimney liner. He was extremely professional and laid out the pricing of several models based on what was appropriate for my home and how long I plan to live in it. His explanation and pricing, confirmed that I would be using Hetter for my installation. Additionally, I had a solid referral from one of my coworkers (who does most of the work on his own home, has used Hetter in the past and was impressed by their work). I also was able to arrange financing which enabled me to pay nothing out of pocket with 0% interest. The work was arranged to be completed in 1-2 weeks. On the day of installation, 2 workers (Walt and Rick) arrived on time and were very polite and professional. Additionally, throughout the day, there were several other people who came to help with the air conditioner installation and with the old equipment removal. Everyone involved was very polite. The job was completed that day and my furnace area was left extremely clean. One of the workers reviewed the new equipment with me including my new thermostat. About 2 weeks later, I was contacted to arrange my inspection for the new equipment installation based on the permit obtained through the area of town that I live in. That of course passed without difficulty. Overall, I was very impressed and will use only Hetter for my HVAC needs in the future.

Really good tech who serviced two units for winter. He was not in a hurry and did thorough work. Exactly as expected. Some confusion on the telephone as to whether I had 1 unit or 2. Might be as much my fault as theirs.

My furnace quit on me on Thursday 2/7. I had Hetter in the following day to look at it. They let me know that it was unfixable and I needed a new furnace. Rick himself came over to give me an estimate on a new furnace. He was so wonderful to work with. He explained all my options thoroughly and worked directly with my home warranty company to make sure the replacement was covered. Since he was in on a Friday at the end of the day, he explained that my home warranty company did not work weekends and nothing could be done until Monday. I was completely without heat in my house. Rick had sympathy for my situation and showed more care than most companies would. He gave me two space heaters from his car and his cell number and told me to call if I needed anything over the weekend. Far more than my home warranty company was offering. He also made sure I was on schedule to have the work starting first thing Monday morning, no delay! The workers arrived promptly Monday morning and were very polite and hard working. They got my old furnace taken down and removed and the new one installed and working in less than 8 hours. The house was warming up before they even left. The did a wonderful job of respecting my home and cleaning up afterwards. All the workers were professional and very nice. I would definitely recommend Hetter to anyone and will use only them from now on for all my heating and cooling needs!

They were excellent. The estimate was great and the turn around time till the install was very timely. The install team was awesome, they did a great job. They explained the entire process from start to finish and definitely performed excellent craftsmanship during the install. I will continue to recommend and use their services in the future.

Total nightmare, do not deal with Rick Hetterscheidt...

Came to examine heating system in order to determine the best system for us to use for AC. Sent me an estimate. Plan to install system in near future.

Had a Columbia Gas energy audit. Revealed high CO emission from 1980's furnace. Invited four highly-rated (Angie's List and BBB) HVAC contractors to provide recommendations for furnace only, and complete systems (furnace & AC). Hetter provided options from different equipment manufacturers. They are well-versed in available rebates from the utility companies. The presentation portfolio left with us was complete with detailed company information, which reinforced their standing in our minds. We went a complete system, which included relocating the outside AC compressor unit. The installation team was professional and friendly. They were timely and clean about their work. The new equipment is quiet and is already delivering a more comfortable environment. We are pleased with the choide of equipment and Hetter, in particular.

Hetter did a great job and explained what they were going to do and asked me questions about location of the new units and vent pipe locations.

I was very happy with Hetter and their work on my A/C. After going through 2 other companies and thinking I needed the A/C replaced, Rick gave me an estimate and told me they could work with my home warranty to get it replaced. After we got the ball rolling on that, they discovered the air exchange was gunked up and just needed cleaned. That solved the issue, and I didn't need to replace my A/C, at least not yet. I am very happy I finally found someone who did a complete check of the A/C and furnace and I'll definitely go with them for heating and cooling issues in the future.

They did a great job. Installation was completed in a little under 8 hours and everything is working properly to date.

I was in constant communication with them before, during and after the install. They called me twice since I put in the system, asking me how things are going, and wanting to make I am satisfied with the services. The technicians were great, friendly, and talked to me about the do's and don'ts of the system. I am really happy with the work and services.

We received 3 quotes for the new system and went with Hetter. Their price was competitive. We are very pleased with the decision to purchase from Hetter.

This was a great experience throughout. The salesperson took his time to explain my options and provide a range of choices to fit my budget. There was no pressure, just good information. Once we made a decision they were able to do the installation within a couple of days. The install crew got here on time. They we're friendly, cleaned up after and when done patiently took the time to walk me though the operation of my new equipment, I also got a follow up call a few days later to check on my satisfaction. I highly recommend this company

Very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and pleasant to work with. I would certainly call Hetter again. I was especially impressed with the phone call with a 30-minute lead time (though I think the technician took more like 40 minutes to get there, no big deal). I was also pleased with the support staff back at the office.

When I called, the lady who answered the phone was very nice and the guy who came out was very nice. I might use them in the future. Their price is average, about the same as everybody else charges.

They are great. The service was excellent. I have an older home so it is difficult to find people to do that type of work.

Every year I have my air conditioner service before hot weather. Chuck, the technician, called to make sure I was available. He was prompt, courteous and thorough. Hetter Heating and Cooling is a premier company that I'll use for my heating and cooling needs.

I did a great deal of research about furnaces and air conditioners and spoke to 5 companies. Hetter was not the cheapest, but their product, Trane, rated as one of the top products and they knew their stuff. They were very patient and informative when it came to all of my many questions and my weeks of decision making. Ken Hetter visited our home twice to drop off material and answer questions and discuss exactly what we wanted. They also were the only company to tell us about the $400 rebates available with both the gas and electric companies for installation of furnaces and air conditioners. They also were the only company that offered financing of 36 months same as cash and had the best warranties on parts, labor and equipment. After I finally made my decision, they arrived on the appointed day on time. They got right to work and removed all of the old equipment. They had to relocate the air conditioner to the side of the house and out of the backyard and run all the lines through the crawl space which took some doing. They also agreed, as part of the project, to repair some duct work and vents that an earlier remodeler did not install correctly. They were at our home all day and when they left at 6pm the work was done and they cleaned up beautifully. I would hightly recommend this company.

They were prompt, efficient, and replaced the defective water heater without any trouble.

My furnace was giving us problems and shutting down earlier in the week and finally quit running Saturday morning. I had a company come on and get it running again, but they said it was over 24 years old and needed replaced as soon as possible. The unit quit running again on Monday, so I contacted several Trane dealers for estimated on replacing both the furnace and AC unit. I decided finally to go with Hetter Heating and Cooling because they were highly recommended by Angies list and a friend at the office recommended the company. They also provided a warranty of 5 years on labor and would file a permit with the city. Monday afternoon I contacted Hetter and said we wanted them to do the work. The crew arrived Tuesday morning at 8:30 and began work on removing the old units and installing the new ones. The work was finished by around 5:30 Monday evening. The crew (Rick and Jason) were very professional. They even parked their vans on the far side of the driveway, so we had access to come and go without interrupting them. They installed all new PVC pipe for the drain, vent and exhaust, since the original pipe was leaking at the joints. They also installed a new breaker for the AC unit since the one in place was not correct. I was also informed that I could apply for an AEP audit and receive a $400.00 rebate back since I installed a very high efficient furnace with a variable speed motor and the AC unit was the highest efficiency offered by Trane. I was extremely pleased with this company and their warranty on the work exceeded other contractors. I would definitely use them for my service contract in the near future.
