I really don't have an overall rating, but the system required one. He may be very good if you can actually get him to respond. The rating given was by default since he did not follow through.

We can't begin to say enough good things about our experience with Griffey Remodeling. We had purchased our house in a short sale, and it needed a LOT of work. We were living an hour away, so finding a contractor in whom we had confidence was very important as we couldn't be there more than once a week, often less. We had interviewed several well-known firms, and ended up going with Charlie because of his apparent attention to detail, quality focus, pricing, and willingness to go the extra mile to create something that he could be proud of. Right from the start another great charachteristic became clear; communication. Unlike many contractors, Charlie answered or returned our calls, or called us with frequent updates and pictures. Even if the news was bad, like a delay, he was up front about the why and when it would be corrected. Delays happen, but to have to hunt down the contractor to find out makes it much worse. He was willing to meet us at the house almost any time of the week or weekend to go over progress or design details. He also had a lot of good creative input on design ideas, things he had done, seen done, or come across. Even though we weren't living there for most of the work, his crews cleaned up at the end of the day, just another mark of professionalism. His guys were very good, and respectful of our space after we had moved in. The attention to detail was excellent; often Charlie would point out flaws he didn't like before we ever noticed. He was open to all our ideas, and good at figuring out how to make it happen at a reasonable cost. We would use or recommend him again without hesitation.

They were great, awesome. It was very unique. Basically, we gave them rough ideas of what we are looking for and they were very creative, came up with awesome suggestions, and made it very unique to the style that we had. They came up really with great ideas that we kind of buy into and we gave them creative freedom and they did an awesome job. Their price was the best.

The service was fine and he was an extremely good supervisor. The people he hired did an extremely good job and were conscientious. They picked up one or two things that we had not noticed that were legitimate. They went above and beyond to keep the project on schedule. He is really good, attentive and is a good organizer and planner. We were extremely happy with it. I feel his prices are a bit high, but it was meticulous and worth it.

All "A's" for Griffey Remodeling and our new kitchen. Our 1960's kitchen was terrible and needed replaced. Ater attending some home shows and talking to remodelers, we started narrowing the group down to about ten. Then we reduced that down to three, using Angie's list. Charlie Griffey came out, inspected what we had, listened to our needs and problems, and submitted a detailed proposal. They completely removed the old kitchen down to the bare studs, then built it back up with a new floor, appliances, walls, cabinets and counter top The quality of their work, and the employees' and sub contractors' helpful attitudes were a big surprise to say the least. A big fat "A" all around for a great job. The kitchen looks great.

They were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.

It was $35,000, I added some things as we went along.

mr. Griffey called back within 24 hrs to set appointment for estimate, went over what he would have to do and why, gave us a ballpark figure and asked if we wanted to move to the blueprint stage, he informed us that 65,000 for a room addition on our particular house in our area would not be recouped in resale value, so we declined to go any further. appreciated his expert advice and honesty would call him again if we needed work done

When Charlie first came out I knew he was a pro right away. He has an extensive list of photos from other remodels they've done and they were awesome. Charlie takes a different approach and actually puts together a professional proposal with design docs that include layouts and all measurements. The project took roughly 9 weeks and went pretty smooth. We were delayed a week waiting on permits which wasn't Griffey's fault. Kevin who is the project manager was excellent at communication and coordinating all the work. He even responded to my text messages when I had some questions on the weekend. All of the workers who came onsite were professional and the end result is simply spectacular. It's too bad we can't post pictures because you would be blown away. Highly recommend these guys if you're looking to do a remodel.

The outcome was an estimate that was almost what we'd paid for the house originally. Charlie apparently does high-end stuff, and it would have saved us all time if we'd known early on that we probably could not have afforded him. We've found other reputable contractors whose proposals were about half, and more in line with our expectations and budget.

They were great. We had no issues with them, and everything went well. They were very professional we would have probably paid a little bit more than some other contractors but we got that back in service and quality so it was great value for the money. They were great all around.

Charlie Griffey and his entire crew are wonderful; we could not have imagined a better experience with a remodel. From the first call to the follow-up on the job after its completion, we have been thrilled with the quality and attention to detail of the work and the dedication to high quality customer service mentality that drives Charlie and his team. When we were shopping for quotes, we had four contractors come over to look at the house. We had a general idea of what we wanted to do but for us we also wanted some help in translating our basic idea into the great space that we were hoping to build. From the first visit, I knew we wanted to use Charlie. No other contractor we talked to was able to help give direction and ideas, nor did they have his knack for design and creativity. He had good ideas that other contractors didn?t think about in order to maximize the usability of the space. He really did an excellent job in helping us with the design and flow of the space and even provided his quote and design plan much quicker than the others. Furthermore, the quote was actually one of the most reasonable, given the details we were incorporating. Charlie and the team, particularly the project manager Kevin, were very communicative and upfront about the timeline and walking us through every step of the project. Kevin managed the day-to-day status updates and served as the point person for questions during the remodel, but Charlie would check in with us throughout to ensure we were completely satisfied and if there was any feedback to help him continue to improve their service. We were also kept in the loop at every new stage of construction? and any small issues that popped up (which there will always usually be something that will happen when dealing with a remodel project) were dealt with quickly. We had concerns with having people in our house at first but the team was very honest, approachable and reliable and we never had any issues. They also respected the house and tried to keep things as clean as possible by laying down plastic in areas they would be travelling to enter/exit the house and they kept the dust as best contained as possible through use of material to seal off rooms. They had great attention to detail. Any small touch-ups and fixes were done without need to ask. They allowed us to do a walk through as well after the project was completed to ensure we were completely satisfied. In addition to the cool space we have, we also realized a positive impact to the value of our home. We recently had a home appraiser walk through the basement and comment that the quality of work was really good and it showed as the value of our home increased by a much larger factor than the cost of the project. I would use Griffey Remodeling again and highly recommend the company for any Basement, bathroom or general remodeling project!

I called to see if I could get an estimate for remodeling a hall bathroom. I got a call back the next day, indicating that they were not taking any new projects. There was no discussion of when we needed the project completed or the scope of work; the only info that I gave was that we wanted to remodel a hall bath. However, I appreciated getting a timely response so we could find a company that wasn't too busy.

Charlie was very thorough with explaining his price quote, however, we decided to move forward with a different contractor. Griffey Remodeling was in the final two out of 4 estimates.

Contact was made with company ("Griffey") and an description of needs and desires were explained. Griffey cam back with a high level estimate from a general design. Once the general design was agreed on, a detailed computer graphic was prepared and final contract price. The contract was signed, and the project started with the cabinets being ordered. Just before the cabinets came in, the construction crew came in and ripped the floor up and tour out the existing floor. Griffey worked with us to select the appliances, granite for counter top, tile for backsplash, lighting fixtures, new sink and faucet. Construction crews sealed off walk ways to other rooms to minimize dust moving to other rooms. Crews cleaned up each day. They also moved existing refrigerator to foray and built in microwave to dining room to allow us to cook meals. As then new cabinets came in, they quicly hooked up the plumbing and reinstall the microwave to again allow us to eat and clean up with a minimal of fuss or mess. Changes to plans were made and Griffey timely incorporated into the process. For example we were not goin to replace the built in double overn. After noticing the oven needed repaired, a new one was ordered and replaced with no delay in construction. Once the job was completed, we received numerous complements from friends and family on the design and quality of work.

I called this company and got a prompt response. I thought my project might be too small, but was unsure so i went ahead and called about work I wanted done in my kitchen and bathrooms. The person on the phone went over a verbal review of my project and confirmed that it was too small for their company. They were professional and courteous and I appreciated the quick response. I wouldn't consider this company unless I had a large project in the future.

Couldn't have been happier with the experience. Charlie Griffey is easy to work with and his staff is very professional. The project was completed on time and on budget. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and are enjoying our new space.

Charlie Griffey?s strength is his one-two punch: 1) his core team (project manager Kevin Folk, and jack-of-all trades Matt and Larry), and the cast of professionals (interior designer, kitchen cabinet design, plumber, electrician, tile installer) he brought in as needed. All of these people were not only skilled, but very easy to work with and understanding about the disruption a renovation like this involves. As part of his service, Charlie Griffey suggested we meet with interior designers Joy and Molly who looked at our home, talked with us, and then brought us paint, countertop, floor and backsplash tile samples. Their suggestions were invaluable because in our excitement for change we neglected to remember that because of the removal of the dining room wall, the kitchen must integrate well with the existing colors and feel of the first floor. Kitchen cabinet guru Hans put together a design for us that included lots of storage and countertop space which resulted in a much more functional cooking space that looks beautiful. We also recommend Dave Mahlin at HH Gregg FineLines at Easton, who helped us pick out appliances. Although Dave is not part of Mr. Griffey?s team, he and his Manager Chad Foltz should be, because they both provide the same high level of customer service we came to associate with the Griffey team. We put the appliances on a credit card ? which gave us travel points that we cashed in towards the end of the job when we needed a break. We also found Mr. Griffey himself very easy to work with ? he has a very grounded personality, the dry sense of humor needed for this type of work (which requires coordination of multiple physical phenomena amidst high emotions and expectations), and never rushed us when we were gathering data to make final decisions. In addition, he sought our feedback at the end of the job ? both positive and negative, so he could refine his team even more. Finally, we give our Project Manager, Kevin Folk, with whom we had the most day-to-day interaction, an A+ for his timely communication, coordination, and overall responsiveness. One note: towards the end of the job, while installing the water line for the new refrigerator?s ice maker, Larry noticed that we had a leaking toilet supply line that was only visible from inside the crawl space, which we normally keep boarded up. He brought this leak to our attention, which could have continued unnoticed by us for months and ultimately cost thousands of dollars of remediation. It would have been so easy for him to turn a blind eye, board up the crawl space and not deliver the bad news, but he didn?t ? he made a point of conscientiously telling us so that we could begin the needed repair. This demonstrated to me the heart of Griffey Remodeling: they think of your house as a home, not just another job. Renovating your home can be very trying at times. Let?s face it ? itis difficult to allow people you just met to come and go as they please into your home, sometimes demolishing things, sometimes building them. The Griffey team truly understands this, and went out of their way to minimize the negative aspects of home remodeling while making our dream kitchen come true. Total Renovation cost was $58K; $9K of that was appliances, including dishwasher, refrigerator, range, range hood, drawer pulls, garbage disposal, sink and faucet.

Great experience from start to finish. Charlie was very consultative and considerate to my needs in the design phase. The team was very professional and responsive through the entire construction process. Excellent attention to detail; it's obvious the team loves what they do and care a great deal about quality.

It went very well. They were very responsive. They were very, very good on follow up and building permits.

If your rating scale included an A+ option, we would certainly giveit to Griffey Remodeling. Mr. Griffey was very prompt in responding to our request for an estimate. He was most helpful in outling the process that would take place, reviewing the cost estimate,and explaining the billing system. He took his time to help us with appliance selections and made sure when needed that we had good advisors with interior furnishings. Each of his employees and/or the sub-contractors showed up when expectedand the project wascompleted ahead of schedule. An excellent company to work with.

We would highly recommend them. They were great. They helped us organize the look of our kitchen. They explained every step that they were going to do. The people were very kind. We even talked about having them work on our bathroom.

Fantastic. The process was easy, minimal disruption while the work was going on, very clean, and the end result looks great! It's exactly what we envisioned when we started the project. It turned out great.

My wife & I recently moved back to Columbus from St. Louis, Mo. We purchased a detached Condo that had a finshed basement area. Prior to us moving into our new home, we hired Griffey Remodeling to install a wet bar & fireplace in the finished basement area. Charlie Griffey did an excelent job helping us design the home improvements. Overall, his team performed quality work in comleting the project in a timely manner. The subcontractors Griffey Remodeling used were very professional. The project manager (Kevin Folk) paid great attentiion to detail & kept us informed. We were very satisfied with the quality of the work & felt the pricing was reasonable. Most of the work was performend while we were still in St. Louis. We felt very comfortable with them being on site without us present. If we have another project, we will use them again.
