They worked around existing hardscaping, damaged it, then refused to fix it. Beware this company

Bill Gerhardt sold the company to his employees at the end of 2019, apparently without a workable succession plan and without notifying prospective customers of this fact. Most aspects of the maintenance contract have not been fulfilled: no installation of anual plantings per contract, no turning on irrigation system per contract. About all that has happened regarding the maintenence is mowing. The company reps John Haney and Tony Messmer met with us early spring and since then have been esentially unreachable.

I hired Greenscapes Landscape Co last fall to put in landscaping around my house. I paid them $22,735. They planted 83 plants and trees. In our initial meeting I told them that they can’t plant anything that the animals will eat as I live out in the country. Out of the 83 plants and trees, 22 or 27% are dead, 29 or 35% have been eaten, 23 or 28% are doing well and 9 or 11% look like they won’t make it much longer. I have asked that they come and remove the dead or eaten plants, fill the holes with top soil and then some mulch. I also asked for a $8,000 refund. They have a guarantee in which they say they will replace any plants that die within the first year but if they replace a plant there is no guarantee on the new plant. I do not have a copy of their guarantee nor do I remember them giving me a copy. I do remember a conversation about it and they told me one year. I assumed that would also follow any plants that they replace. Now I’m being told that any plants they replace will not be guarantee at all. I really don’t want them to come out and put more plants in as they are not guaranteed and I feel like they could even sabotage them so they wouldn’t live. My last conversation with them a week ago after I told them the remedy they had sent me wouldn’t work, they asked me to send them an email and pictures and we could negotiate. I then took the time to send them all the information and their response was the same as before. Now they have even made me madder as they are not willing to negotiate. Now they are not returning my phone calls. Most of the plants that have died were the larger, more expensive ones. I feel my offer to remedy the situation is fair in that 51 plants or trees (62%) are dead or eaten. The cost for the plantings according to my invoice was $16,020. 62% of $16020 would have been $9,932. I’m only asking for a refund of $8,000. I feel that when this many of the plants die or get eaten, something more than the usual guarantee should be upheld as it was obvious that the plants were of poor quality. When they originally brought the 6 cherry trees to plant, the supervisor sent them back because he said they were of poor quality.

We had initially started discussions to have a fence installed in New Albany. Understanding that there are multiple permit requirements, we anticipated some delay. The discussions from April to June were to install a 4 foot fence, which was changed to a 5 foot fence in late June. The 4 foot fence had already been approved, thus we were given the impression that approval would be quick. Instead, we repeatedly emailed and called the sales representative, with minimal response. The response times were very delayed due to multiple reasons (from the representative - Marc Aubry), resulting in final installation in October. The work, as we can tell, is very good. The customer service was well below standard, and I will not use again, and highly recommend using if the representative Marc Aubry. I cannot speak for the rest of the organization, but this particular representative does not provide feedback or updates.

Rob Harris was my contact person. They were professional and stayed within budget. They kept in close contact with me the whole time the job was being done.

They started with an over grown mess and they did a nice simple design that I can maintain. They came when they said they would.

VERY IMPRESSED BY PROFESSIONALISM. A CREW OF 6 ARRIVED PROMPTLY & WORKED NON STOP UNTIL THEY WERE FINISHED. IMPRESSED BY STAFFS ATTIRE (ALL THE SAME) HIGH QUALITY. OTHERS RESULTS WERE LESS THAN GREENSCAPES. TOOK TIME TO DO A CAREFUL JOB. WOULD USE AGAIN
