Gary was in full swing of our inspection well before our scheduled arrival time of 10am. He walked us through each aspect of our home including the appliances, mechanical, foundation, roof etc. He was super friendly, knowledgeable did more than just a visual inspection - ran water to stress test the plumbing, took readings on the furnace and air conditioner to see how well they functioned, tested the windows but beyond that he explained why he was doing it and why it matters to us. He offered us so much more than just a home inspection - he provided a piece of mind! I highly recommend Glenn Home Inspections!
Description of Work: Gary Glenn provided a pre-purchase home inspection for us.

Glenn Holmes did a house inspection for a property we were buying. We were very happy with the inspection. We did go to the inspection and he was very prompt and answering her questions. The report we got was a digital include photographs and details for every area of the house. Granted, there was snow on the ground so not everything could be investigated as well as we like, like the sidewalks however that was no fault of the company. I would highly recommend Glen Holmes inspections to anybody who needed a home inspector. Just to be clear our inspection was done by the owner, Glenn. Just to be clear I had prompt communication via phone and email both with the home inspector as well as the schedulers for his business.

I agree with the above reviewer that Mr. Glenn loves to tout his gadgets. However, these gadgets did not save me from his inspector (Jack) totally missing a major foundational issue in my home! We discovered about a year after the inspection that part of our foundation (the breakfast nook) was sinking rather severely into the ground. This was evidenced by a crack coming from the breakfast nook door's corner, the fact that said door was not evenly sitting, and a stairstep crack going down the one side of the foundation. These are all issues that indicate foundation problems, according to the contractors I've had come out to examine the problem. At the time, I knew nothing about foundations but now realize these were big warning signs that the inspector, while touting all the gadgets and doo-dads, completely failed to notice or did not think were a big deal. I know for a fact the crack from the door was there during the inspection and also doubt the stairstep crack developed in only a year - in fact, there is a picture of it in the report but it is not pointed out that it could be an issue! This repair jobis going to cost at least $5,000.In addition, I called Mr. Glenn to seek some kind of compensation for his employee's grievous omission and he said that because in a totally separate section of the "Basement" part of my part the inspector told me to contact a contractor, he was not at fault! To be clear, the inspector recommended a contractor look at the subfloor and stairs, NOT the crawlspace, which is where the foundational issue is! I felt this was a totally unprofessional and crooked move on his part to avoid blame! I realize now that using a good home inspector (especially for your first house) is immeasurebly important. Use a professional, honest inspector. DON'T use Glenn Home Inspections.

He was very professional and very punctual, but he did a horrible job.
Description of Work: A couple of weeks ago, we told them that we were not happy with the home inspection that he did. My husband sent them a picture of the roof inspection and an email, telling them about the roof and the horrible condition that it was in. This company said that they looked at the roof and said it was great, so we know that they did not check it out the way they were supposed to.

Mr. Glenn was very nice and handled the other two inspections we requested. He did seem to talk a quite a bit about how they had all these different gadgets to inspect the home whereas other inspectors only carry a flashlight and give you a visual inspection. They did take pictures of everything they did and submitted them with their report. Unfortunately, there have been so many things wrong with this house since we took possession--things that Mr. Glenn should have caught. The plumbing under the kitchen sink was a mess and the first time we used the dishwasher it backed up into the sink. We had to call a plumber out to fix the sink and he removed a disgusting black clog as big as a rat from under the sink. The previous owners put in the new kitchen sink and when the two copper pipes didn't line up they used a piece of hose to connect the two pipes and it collapsed causing water to leak under the sink. Why did he not catch this? We also have a problem with the bathtub leaking downstairs into our family room and now that has to be fixed and the shower in the master bedroom has been leaking for some time and so we don't have a shower to use. We are now also having to have the basement waterproofed and major foundation work done costing us $16,000 because Mr. Glenn was too busy touting all of his gadgets and how good his company is to properly do the inspection! He kept telling us how dry the basement was but the first storm we had after moving in we had water in the basement and it has gotten progressively worse over time. He kept telling us what a great house this was but we have found problem after problem in this house and had we known we would have never bought this house. We knew there were things that needed to be updated and we were okay with that but had Mr. Glenn looked a little more closely and caught some of these things we could have made a better decision on whether we would buy this house. I am very upset because the money we set aside to update the house is now going toward the foundation work. I have learned that just because a company carries lots of gadgets and drives vehichles with logos all over them doesn't make them a reliable company. I think Mr. Glenn needs to spend more time inspecting and less time talking about all the gadgets he has!
