The wait was long and the gentleman was arrogant. He made me feel that we were bothering him at his job! There are a couple of individuals there who are very rude. I feel that they are trying to make improvements, but I travel to a much further away Geek Squad for the customer service.

They cleaned up my desktop computer in the store which had a virus. Works well. I called them on the phone a few days later about popups - it only took them about 1/2 hour to clean that up. I also signed up my laptop. They added the security to that and answered several questions about how to do it. I took the laptop back to the store for questions which were answered. I appreciate the tips they gave me. I am very happy with the service and support.
Description of Work: Signed up for Geek Squad support for three years. So far it is well worth the money for people who have absolutely NO support otherwise (family, friends, etc.)

I took my laptop to the Geek Squad desk at Best Buy on June 2 because it was frozen. I bought it from Best Buy March 2012 and paid extra for 2 year hardware coverage and Norton, but did not buy 2-year software coverage. The Geek guy turned it on and said "yes, it's frozen" and then started quoting the comparative prices of 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year service agreements. I said I just want to have it looked at because it could be under the warranty. He said he would charge $70 just to take it in and a minimum $199 repair, then went back to talking about the multi-year agreements. I walked out. I went back on June 8 and they returned it with, of course, nothing done. I had not signed any paperwork for them to do work (true) but no one apparently even tried to look at it. When I told the Geek person (different one) that I emailed Geek Squad about it and they did not respond to my email, he seemed unfazed. Then he started quoting the price agreements and the rationale for them (word for word from the first guy). This time when I walked out, I took my laptop with me.
Description of Work: The provider just kept quoting prices instead of looking at the computer to try to fix it.

We were actually leary of using Best Buy for installation and anticipated hiring a company that specialized in home theater installation. However, when we made our purchase we were persuaded to give the geek squad a try. The installer was prompt and then took the time to assess the installation, speak with us in depth to be sure he understood exactly what are expectations were, and then reviewed our options. He was sure to provide all potential pitfalls and information before installation so we could make an informed decision for them to complete the work. He did a complete and thorough installation, left our house clean and took away all trash. The one bad part is Geek Squad are not electricians so they can't install the power cords through the wall, but they do talk with you about how you can do it after they leave, and we were able to do this with little trouble. We also had purchased a tablet to use as a keyboard source and our TV came with an additional smart remote that had sound and motion control, but we didn't spend any time setting that up. The only improvements would be to have their service techs be electricians so they can do the complete job and be sure each rep knows the comple set up so we would have been schooled on the smart remote and connecting the tablet as a keyboard. Overall, great experience and we are enjoying the set up.
Description of Work: We needed an installation of a smart TV and sound system above our fireplace including re-routing wires through the wall.

We did research online to find the TV and entertainment system we wanted and found Best Buy had the best price. We have had average service from Best Buy in the past, but we figured we would chance using them since the price was the best. Our sales rep, Bradley, did a fantastic job of talking us through all of the solutions that would be best for us, and even went as far as to make us a deal on the last, floor model, sound bar system we wanted. He took it down himself and they sold it to us for 1/3 of the cost since it was the floor model. We hesitated to use Geek Squad to install our system and were going to use a professional service since we wanted an install above our fireplace. Best Buy convinced us we should use the Geek Squad so we gave it a shot. Our appointment was within 5 days of our purchase, on a Saturday which we needed, and our installer Dan called before he arrived to double check we had everything we needed, and arrived on time. He talked with us for several minutes to be sure we understood what he was going to do and to make sure it was appropriate for us. He checked several times to be sure we were all on the same page. Dan did a superior job with our installation and took time to set up our TV, Blue Ray, and Cable unit. He also helped with the set up of our tablet as a remote. Dan was professional and a really cool guy. The only downside was the installers at Geek Squad are not electricians so they can't install power cords in the walls, but Dan made it easy for us to understand how we should move forwad with the power cords to be sure they are to code. Highly recommended and we were pleasantly surprised......
Description of Work: We purchased a Samsung Smart TV, sound bar system, and samsung galaxy tablet to use as a remote. We used the Geek Squad to install our TV and sound system above a fireplace.

It was the first time I had used them. He was polite and very professional. He was very smart too. Everything still works great. He gave me his card and told me call him directly if I had any problems.

I keep a contract with them. If I need something fixed they will come put when I need them. It started when I got a smart TV and they came out to set it up. When and I have to move they will come and pack everything up and reinstall it at the new house. I can depend on them and they will send someone out to make sure things are taken care of properly.
Description of Work: I use Best Buy Geek Squad for all of the electronic things in my house. They set up my TV, home theater and WII on the last visit.

They always seem to have good prices in advertisement, so it got us there. The first time we were there and had one of the salesman and he tried to explain things to us. We basically have no knowlege about new TV's. Never had bought a flat screne, so you know how old our other TV's are. We said we would think about it. Asked if on commission and he said no. The TV we wanted seemed to be OK to buy when I checked on line. We decided to buy one so went back a 2nd time. The salesman this time said even if you do select a cheaper TV, the Geek Squad will save you by coming out to program it. We bought into it. Fat chance. We have learned from others that buying the TV is not much of a profit, it is getting you to fall for the Geek Squad. We canceled that part of the order. The delivery was on time. We put the stand together. U-Verse helped get out TV set up. So far the TV has been OK for a couple days. Time will tell.
Description of Work: Bought a TV, cord, stand, Geek Squad, Delivery. We canceled Geek Squad after talking to people after our purchase; actually we should known better after horrible experiences with the Geek Squad to repair our computor. We had already canceled them once before when they tried to repair our computor. They failed at that. At least we remembered the salesman said the TV stand was a "do it yourself" set up. We were told we could come in and pick up the stand early to get it set up. When we went there they could not break down the order so we bought another stand and they said OK to bring back the one they deliver. Delivery to us was free, but now it costs us fuel and time mileage to take it back.

I liked everything about them. They did a very nice job. They set up everything. I have a VA machine and a blu ray disc player and also a new high definition TV set. They connected everything together and they also gave me instructions as to how to use the remote control and bring up things that could be done with it.
Description of Work: I bought TV from Best Buy/ and the services that came out was Geek Squad yesterday. I bought new TV and new DVD player.

They had a model that was discontinued , but had every feature we were looking for. Every other comparable model was over $1,000 at every store we looked at. Best Buy gave us a great price and delivered it on day and time as promised. They even took extra time to hook up the ice maker that they weren't required to do!

I still feel Best Buy should come out here and tell me how to use this TV. Also, they should come out here and take away this enormous box. Worst company I have ever dealt with. My friend bought a TV from HH Gregg and they fulfilled all their promises.
Description of Work: Bought LCD 52" Samsung TV. Delivery 1 hr late. Wouldn't take box TV came in (as promised) Enormous box I am stuck with. Didn't explain how to use TV as promised. Delivery men said Geek Squad did this. Weren't told about Geek Squad (never heard of them) and they charge $150 to tell you how to use TV. Delivery people said everyone they deliver to says they didn't know about Geek Squad. Called and complained and employee asked me "Do you have the Extended Warranty". What does that have to do with telling me how to use TV? No, I didn't have extended warranty. Best Buy is misleading to say the least. The only positive thing they did was take away the old TV. Terrible company and I would NEVER patronize them again.

The first time Bryce came out he took off his shoes at the door, was on time, very professional and helpful. He checked both computers, looked through the files, connected to the Best Buy website and it appeared to be fixed. Bryce left and of course the internet connection stopped working. I called the next morning and he was out that afternoon. He figured out that it was our router, replaced it (for a fee) and it has been working very well ever since. He also linked our two computers so we could print from our one printer with our laptop as well as our desktop.

It could not have been a better experience. We went into the store because there was a sale on the internet, and they more than matched it. The people who installed the television were very conscientious in their work, and we were extremely satisfied.

When I went to the store the next day and explained my problem and asked for a refund, the manager said I was obligated to pay $129 since the technician showed up. I disagree, since the technician that showed up was not willing to do the work the store had promised.
Description of Work: When I went to the store the person who wrote up the order repeatedly told me that the technician would do other minor tasks for me when he arrived to do the work. I prepaid $198 for services to uninstall Norton Internet Security and install Trend Micro, which I paid an additional $39 for and to check the installation on my scanner. This seemed high to me but since the clerk said the technician would be willing to help me with a few other minor tasks I went ahead. Later in the week I went back to the store and purchased a wireless card ($62) for my laptop and was assured that it's installation was covered by my $198 service fee. When the technician showed up he was very rigid and said he was there to do only two tasks and every thing else would cost me extra. This was a completely different story from what the store had told me so I refused the work. (Total = $316.)

Technician never showed up or called.
Description of Work: We scheduled an appointment for a technician to look at our computer. He was supposed to be here by 11:00 am, we called around 2:30 pm (someplace in Houston) to see where he was since we hadn't heard from or seen him. We were told that he called to see if we were home and only got voice mail. We were home, our phone never rang and we had no voice mails on either our cell phone or regular phone. We decided not to schedule with an unreliable company and called someone else who was extremely helpful. We will never call Geek Squad again and will tell all our friends about this bad experience.

The purchase was easy enough and having it installed was also easy enough. However, less than a month after purchase, the dryer stopped working. Since it was still under warranty, we arranged for service through the manufacturer. The service person explained that the entire assembly that the dryer cord was attached to needed to be replaced because whoever installed it did not attach the cord correctly. He further explained that, "we should have noticed some arcing" and that we'd need to provide another dryer cord. He showed me that the plastic around the dryer cord was melted and singed. When I brought the cord to Best Buy's service desk, the girl behind the counter thought the cord was funny and laughed. I didn't think that something that could have caused a fire in my home was very funny. After some discussion, Best Buy replaced the cord for free, but offered no explanation or apology beyond, "we use subcontractors for installation so it's not our fault."
Description of Work: Sold and installed a washer/dryer set.

We went in a few times to decide which brands we were interested in before we purchased. They were always knowledgeable, patient, and helpful regarding TV performance, which TVs were newly upgraded, etc. Their pricing was also very competitive for the TV we ended up purchasing (Toshiba). Delivery was quick, and the delivery men were prompt. We are pleased with the TV.

We go all the way to Polaris to get it fixed because it was under warranty. My computer was in the shop for three days. They then tell me I need to upgrade my computer which cost more than I expected. I took my computer home and it would still shut down, and the problem was not fixed.

After purchasing hardware they suggested and trying to install it without success I tried to get the Geek Squad Double Agent to call back. Three calls to the 1-800 number were to no avail even though the company left him messages. My computer was nonfunctional and they could not find ANY Agent to come out for over one week. I eventually fixed it on my own with purchase of even more hardware.
Description of Work: Moved computer from one floor to another and re-hooked up network. Suggested additional hardware to buy to finish the job.
