From starting with a concept, and then bringing in a top notch architect, the project was set up with a budget that was completely in line with what we expected. Foundation work, framing, inside and outside finish work, landscaping, cabinets, back-splash tiles, granite tops, flooring and amazing lighting was a work coordinated through weekly meetings and sometimes daily, consults to make sure we were "tracking together" as the project moved to fruition. We could not be happier with the result. Bob and his associate, Cheryl were available and responsive every step of the way. Best of all, there were no costly "surprises". Any and all change orders were thoroughly discussed and agreed upon before moving ahead on them.
Description of Work: Expanded the footprint of our kitchen by adding 12' to the back of our home, and changing the entire design, scope and functionality of our kitchen. Not a simple rectangular add on, but instead, one that had a vaulted ceiling, a full picture-windowed wall slanted for the perfect panoramic view, faux skylights that are amazing, and an island that is like non-other: Parade of Homes worthy. The addition was put over a newly dug and blocked full-basement with shelves, state-of-the-art insulation and full lights.

We hired Bob and Fry Contracting after he came out to estimate and brainstorm multiple project opportunities at our UA house. Our day-to-day contractor was Cheryl. She was very responsive and was able to get the design and initial tasks (e.g., tile and fixture selection) completed quickly. She was very knowledgeable, up-front and clear on the project costs and need for change orders, and great to work with. Our project took a little longer to start demo than she desired, however it fit our timeline. The sub-contractors that Fry used were all top-notch. We felt comfortable having them in our house during constrution, and found they were very transparent and open to our ideas. They moved fixture locations, completely re-tiled the room, built a custom vanity, replaced a window and more. We are very happy with the work. The only issue we had was a very slow response time in completing final punch-list items (touching up paint, fixing cracked grout, etc). We would definitely hire Bob and company again.

There are many better, reasonably priced and more communicative contractors in Columbus. The first appointment Bob Fry made with us, he never showed up or called. It turns out he had a vacation planned for that time and just forgot about us. His assistant didn't even call until the next day, after I had left a message asking if everything was alright. Because I had heard his prices were reasonable I rolled with it and set up another appointment. I should have followed my instincts on this guy. He expressed interest in our project gave us some round numbers. We asked for a full line by line estimate. He was supposed to call to have his subs come through for the estimate, but never did. I had to call him - at which point he asked if he could set something up after the holiday weekend (1 day before the bid was supposed to be due). Again, I was too lenient and said okay, but he never called or returned any of my calls. His assistant never answers the phone, and he didn't even have the courtesy to let us know he was no longer interested in our project. During our only meeting he told me his assistant handles a lot of the communication (which there is none) because he doesn't communicate well with women and just doesn't work well with them, which is one of the reasons he has a female assistant. I thought this was weird statement. Since we employed an architect who bills for bidding materials, he wasted both our time and money trying to just get a bid. Glad we didn't end up using him and run into bigger problems later. Don't bother with this contractor, he is a complete waste of time.
Description of Work: We asked for a quote for a large 2 story addition project. Bob Fry expressed interest so we asked for a full quote.
Description of Work: Coordinated and oversaw the tear-down of garage, construction of new garage with loft storage areal Removal of old driveway; installation of new drainage system and concrete driveway that needed complicated angles for drainage. Bob was great to work with. We were concerned about the impact construction would have on our trees; Bob worked well with our arborist. His subcontractors were great.

I have windows that are not level. Cabinets with holes in them. We routinely heard this quote. and quot;We never know how the owner is going to respond when we choose something for themand quot; as if the owner is not allowed to have an opinion in the matter? While they thought we weren't listening we routinely heard the owner and his project manager criticize us. It took 6 months to complete a very simple kitchen. Overall the project for some reason was a nightmare. I have spent many hours redoing what was attempted by their crew.

Description of Work: We ended up using another general contractor to remodel our kitchen but Fry gave us a great proposal. The decision to use another gc was purely style related. Fry was more professional, upfront, and customer oriented.

Bob Fry did an amazing job repairing a faulty bathtub and styling new tile to fit our existing decor. He then repaired all of our ceilings and the damage done by the tub.

We designed the general layout, but Fry made it happen. They were helpful in suggesting resources for tile, etc., and pulled together a very competent crew to do the actual work. The only disappointment was how long the project took, more than twice the estimated time. However, most of the delay was out of Fry's control.
