The process was top notch from quote to completion! Ishmael and his crew were fantastic! They were punctual, courteous, and professional. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Quality Control Manager on site every day. We would highly recommend FTC. We love the finished product. Our house is about 15 years old and has a Stucco finish. The Stucco had never been painted and was really looking bad. I was amazed at how much better is looked even after the pressure washing process. We really like the product, Loxon, Mark chose to use. The house and trim look fantastic. The team pays attention to detail. We are so pleased that the FTP sign is still in our front yard. Please contact Mark if you are considering FTP and would like to speak with us personally. Thanks Mark for a quality job!
Description of Work: We hired FTP to paint the exterior of our approx. 5,000 square foot house.

Extremely professional workers, reasonable price and the quality of the work is tremendous. For a small amount of money I essentially got a large part of my kitchen completely redone.
Description of Work: Removed wallpaper, completely touched up walls and then painted cabinets. I got a custom job, the cabinets are better than new, so are my walls, and the workers were tremendous.

Overall the finished work was very good. I contacted Mark about 6 weeks prior to my desired completion date and had a quote in a couple of business days. The price was very fair and competitive with other bids I got. Mark assured me the work would be done no problem in that 6 week window. It did come down to the very last couple of good weather days and I had to follow-up/pressure a little more than I would have liked to ensure completion but we very satisfied with the end results.
Description of Work: Pressure wash house, deck and patio. Re-stained the deck.

The initial quoting was easy enough. The first day the crew was out they did the upstairs bedrooms and painted the trim. So far so good. They were punctual and things were done quite well. At this point, things quickly went down hill. The drywall finishers were out and only skimmed the dining room. I asked the drywall person if he was going to also do the bathroom. He said the bathroom would not be skimmed. I told Mark about this and he told me the painters would skim the bathroom. The painters came out and did a very poor job skimming the bathroom. There were faux lines the previous owners had painted using painters tape that left uneven ridges. The painters were even apologizing that the little they could do would be ineffective. In the dining room then, the painters missed entire areas and in general did a poor job. I still question if proper priming was done even though it was insisted that is was done. I messaged Mark, and disappointingly, he was defensive rather than trying to understand the issue. He told me the places on the wall the painters missed could not be painted due to electrical concerns as they would require a drywall patch. This was untrue and Mark had dismissed me out of hand without understanding the issue. The issue was, the painters missed a spot and no patching was necessary. I questioned if proper surface prep and priming had occurred as there was bad picture framing and the general paint finish was poor due to not preparing the walls. Typically one wants to sweep down freshly sanded joint compound to reduce finish flaws and improve adhesion. I was told that absolutely proper priming and prep was done and regardless, Super Paint has primer in it. This was a serious hit to credibility as I would never expect a true professional painter to accept an all-in-one product. That said, Mark did send out Jeff, his quality control person, to see the issues. Jeff agreed that the quality of the work was poor and they would remedy things. He also apologized for Mark not taking the time to understand my concerns. The crew came out to do a better job skimming the dining room and bathroom. The skimmer said that he was told to do the job the way he did initially because his boss (Zach?) didn't want to worry about getting drywall mud on the base boards. He told me he knew it wouldn't look good as it would cause picture framing and he would have to come back. Then another paint crew came out. Again, we had issues. Paint was peeling off of the wall at places, surfaces were not prepped or sanded, and there were general finish issues. In the mean time, their crew started removing wall paper in the upstairs bathroom. They did it in such haste that they did not get all of the glue off of the wall and then painted over the glue. The results were bad. Also, they only painted half of a ceiling and didn't remove most of the bath fixtures so paint was all over toilet paper holders and towel bars. Again, Jeff came out and was quite visibly frustrated at the job. I point blank asked if they had true senior and experienced painters on their pay roll. Jeff assured me that they did and the problem was simply a lack of attention. They had a crew practically immediately start to redo the bathroom to fix the walls and remove the wall paper glue remnants. Jeff even did a freebie paint job of our mail box box as a sort making amends gesture. At the end of this, Jeff did a walk through. I pointed out places where the skim and paint still weren't right, how the cut ins along the ceiling were still sloppy in places, and somehow toilet paper holders had migrated a foot up the wall. (If you're 8 feet tall, my guest bathroom is probably perfectly set up for you now). Jeff personally recut in several places and I told him not to bother with the skim and bath fixture issues. I explained to Jeff that after having the FTC guys at our house all day practically every day for multiple weeks because they were unable to do things right the first/second/etc time, I simply wasn't willing to take the chance of what they would do incorrectly again. Jeff understood and was very apologetic. Honestly, had it not been for Jeff, I would have pulled the plug on the project much sooner. Myself and my fiancé were taking time off of work to shepherd this process and we simply could waste any more time. Lastly, there was trim repair. Brain, who I believe is one of the senior folks and based on other reviews does quotes, was assigned to repair the baseboard trim. He patched a section when the job quoted was a to fix an entire wall. Communication break down. Again, we had another visit to have things set straight and Brian was very apologetic. I was very disappointed in the entire process. Jeff explained that they were having a lot of internal issues due to their fast growth and I can certainly appreciate that having a business of my own. So I will say, they did eventually make things right in most cases except for where I had given up and didn't want any more surprises. As someone reading this, I think FTC can do good work, but at this time, be prepared to have to micromanage the entire process as the work is happening. I made the mistake of leaving them to work unattended and not calling things out as they occurred in real time. By the time I got home from work to see the results, it was too late. Simple things like not taping over wall outlets and switches was the norm. Additionally, be very explicit and ask questions about the quoting. Half the reasoning given for mistakes was "but the quote says X". Unacceptable. If the crew knows that what they are doing is wrong and even tells the customer it is wrong (see the initial crew doing the faux line above, or patching a section of trim rather than the whole piece), they need to call it out and course correct immediately. Even now with the invoice, there are items that in retrospect I should have asked more questions on as I was surprised at the cost. I am just happy to be at the end of the process and will pay to get it over with. I have paid close attention to the reviews on here and the responses when a negative review is given. I am here to say, I was very clear along the way the issues I had with the work. If someone is surprised at my review, it is because they either are not sensitive to these issues and what a customer expects or their people are not communicating back frustrations and concerns. It should not be a surprise that a customer is not happy that things have to be redone many multiple times. Success and an A rating is not the job being done right eventually. Success is doing it right the first time and the customer feeling good about the entire process. It is not my responsibility as a customer to have to hold a company's feet to the fire to have things done right, communicated clearly within the crews, or what a quality job looks like. This should be table stakes, why I gave the ratings I did and why I canceled a quote to paint the exterior of the home.

Thank you for taking time on the thorough review and thank you for re-hiring us to do your project. We love Angie’s List and the platform it gives our customers as well as ourselves to respond. We were very excited to work on your new German Village home and I apologize we did not meet your expectations despite being up front with you on the process of your project. You called us mid-summer when we were working with a heavy workload. You just purchased your home and were anxious to move in and you wanted us to start asap. I explained to you our heavy workload would not fit your timeline especially with all of the record setting rain. You expressed wanting to still use us due to the quality work we do and have performed for you in the past. I proposed an idea that due to how much rain we were having and that you were not currently living in the home that we could perform the work on rain days. I was up front with you in that this is not ideal and you would receive different crews due to these circumstances. All of our crews are extremely skilled but when receiving different crews it is hard to build customer relations hence your response to different crews arriving. I felt comfortable with these arrangements because you were a past client and you agreed to these arrangements plus I was going to have our Quality Control Mgr involved every step of the way. We only give our customers one crew unless we make an arrangement like we did. I did want to make one thing clear is that our drywall finishers are our painters and are experienced and have had the proper training. This is why we have received Drywall Super Service awards. You do not receive an Angie’s Super Service award for not doing quality work. I have some painters who finish full time for us and this is who you had during the skim coat process. Painting is more of a demand so all paint crews have an experienced finisher on the crew. Going into this I told you due to the deep base faux walls and striping this is going to be a process & a headache. I thought both parties knew this going into this project. I do not think I could have made myself more clear about this. It is really frustrating to read especially after you knew the drywall portion would be a pain. Our goal was to minimize the headaches and apparently we did not do that for you as a client. The first portion in painting trim and walls you gave us praises and said you were looking forward to the next phase. Now we are onto the fun part of the project w/ the drywall. You had deep base faux lines & striping that you did not want to see. We performed multiple skims and sanding and due to the dry time of this product multiple days was needed for the drywall portion of the project. You were in and out on this project and sometimes for several hours so you questioned and asked for updates when you arrived especially w/ the priming. I encourage all owners to ask questions and express concerns. All customers need to feel comfortable w/ our company. You told us we did not prime the walls because of the inconsistencies and you were picking out imperfections in the wall. When we told you the walls have been primed you did not like the response. We even applied additional finish painting coats for you so you could feel more satisfied in the coverage. Priming a new drywall surface brings out the imperfections better in order for us to see them and make the proper adjustments especially, after a major drywall repair like yours. You did not understand this step and felt it was poor prep work opposed to not understanding that we were going to fix the imperfections now that we could see them better. I think you would agree after priming you could see imperfections better and all areas were fixed. You did not have to hold our hands but made it known you knew the steps and wanted updated as we went along. We were confused by the trust factor especially after being a past client. I knew this was a big investment for you w/ the new house and what you were paying for your repairs was costly so I was being sympathetic to you managing our project. Your walls were skimmed (3) times and in some areas (4) times. You would critique after each skim coat and we expressed to you we were still on the project performing a major repair. You had asked about skim coating the bathroom on the day we skim coated your great room and time did not allow. I did explain we would be skim coating the bath walls and this would be performed by Rony who is one of our best finishers and painters. I was up front to you at the initial quote that the stripes were going to need some serious attention. You did critique us again during the phases despite not being done. The comment you made about expecting it right the first time does not apply to a surface that needs multiple skims due the prior wall condition. We gave special attention due to an electrical area where a patch was missing but instead of thinking we were not completed you told us we missed it and that you felt I blew you off. We did have some miscommunication on the wood repair in the closet and what you wanted performed. I thought you wanted something different then what we talked about and I instructed Brian to perform the repair. I do not think you would have mined since it was a ½ hr fix but I feel it made you more frustrated because of the other issues. Our Quality Control Mgr. is involved w/ all of our customers and I appreciate you giving him such high praises. After sharing the review with our staff I found it discouraging that some of these conversations did not happen. Jeff was with you the whole way and he made sure you were pleased with the outcome. You had said in the review you were just glad to be done with the project and you were pleased to pay us just to be done with the project but did hire us for the exterior portion and signed the contract. You scheduled the washing after the interior project. After we pressure washed your home you insisted the washer did not wash around your front door. You were right we did not wash around your door. I told you we do not wash around front doors due to possible seal leaks with high pressure. It was also a gorgeous/expensive German Village front door that was stained and we were not painting. Heaven for bid we washed your front door and casing and got water in the home. You would have not been pleased. This casing was going to be hand washed and the rest of the home was looked great and was ready for painting. I hope you can see our point of view. We did not charge you for the washing as well. We have had two recent reviews where owners thought they understood the drywall process and both clients have become frustrated. We will do our best to better inform our future drywall clients about the drywall process. Our staff constantly is striving to become better and I feel this review will help us move forward in a positive direction.

I contacted FTC on October 27 to obtain an estimate for power washing and exterior trim work. Mark responded that same day and scheduled an estimate for Friday, October 30. I met with Brian that Friday and received the written estimate from Mark the following Monday. Mark was then able to fit me in that same week even though it was late in the season and the weather was turning cold. In fact, the power washing was performed on Wednesday November 4 and Mark had his crew start painting on Saturday November 7. All of the work - scraping, sanding, priming, caulking and painting all exterior wood trim for a two story house plus painting all gutters and the garage door - was completed in just 2 days. The workers did a great job and cleaned up everything when they were finished. I would highly recommend FTC and will definitely be using them again in the future.

We used Fresh Touch in the winter of 2015 to paint the family room, breakfast room & kitchen of the home we'd just purchased and were beyond pleased with the quality of their work etc (see review from March 2015). After such a wonderful experience, we contacted them again to do the second phase of painting with the same expectation. Unfortunately, we didn't have the same experience this time. Due to several issues, we will not be using Fresh Touch in the future.

Thank you for taking the time for the review. I do find this to be concerning though especially how much we were in communication with you during your project and the quality that was brought. Our Quality Control Manager was in talks with you everyday and I personally spoke with you on the phone. He actually left (2) follow up messages with you and no one called him back for a week. The first project did go great & we appreciate you letting our Angie’s List customers know that in the last review you gave us. However, this most recent review does not reflect the great service you experienced before. I would like to elaborate more on the type of project we did for you and why there was frustration on both ends. We do not serve your area normally but due to serving your family members in the past we chose to make the drive to serve your painting needs on two separate occasions. You were upset because on the second day our guys got caught in a traffic jam on 1-70 due to an accident and were 45min late. Our workers gave themselves plenty of time to get to your project and if no accidents had happened we would have shown up 15min before our 8am start time. We called to let you know but you guys were not being understanding because you were going to be late for work. I understood your stress and had asked for you to leave a key for us but you asked us to come back the next day. It is never our intention to make our customers late for work and our past reviews back our timeliness up. The traffic delay was out of our control and we did our best in communicating with you on the delay. The scope of work you had us do was not your standard wall painting. You had stripes throughout the room and you wanted the stripes removed so you could not see them once we started your project. Our Supervisor at the initial estimate informed you there would be minor imperfections unless you wanted to skim the walls. We informed you that this is a process and stripe imperfections may be visible after the initial prep work phase and we would most likely be able to just sand the texture down w/o having to do any major drywall repair. This method was to save you money and discussed with you. Unfortunately that did not happen and because what you thought were not minor imperfections we had to skim the lines after the painting had been completed. You had reached out to our Quality Control Manager that you wanted the stripes to be fully removed and we informed you drywall skim coating was needed to meet that expectation and in return the job took longer than expected. We had to skim coat each stripe to ensure you were pleased w/ the project. We did not charge you additional fees to skim coat the walls after we painted but instead tried to make you happy. You were very particular in making sure the walls were perfect so we took the extra time to make sure this happened. We understood the job took longer than expected but it was important to make sure you were happy w/ things and you made it known on several occasions you were not happy with the progress. We have very high expectations as well hence our Angie’s List status and do our best in communicating w/ our customers but I am not sure we could have made you happy on this project. We strived to meet your expectations. We made sure all cut lines were perfect and the walls were properly prepped. I am glad the results were great when all said and done. We hope your expectations are met if we have an opportunity to work with you in the future. I know I will be sharing this review w/ our company and see how we can get better.

We have used FTC several times, mostly for indoor painting. But the time came for the outside of our house to be painted and we called them again. Mark is always extremely responsive, as are his employees. We did get a few quotes from other companies and Mark's was a smidge lower. Couple that with the quality of work he provides and he once again won our business. We were not sure if we would be able to fit the painting in before the weather turned too cold and the rain finally stopped. But they managed to fit us in when the rain finally moved out. His crew arrived on time and got right to work. They powerwashed the house, caulked/sealed where needed, protected all that needed to be covered. They were very tidy, professional and polite. Ishmael asked us each day if we had any questions and let us know what they planned to work on the next day. They took very good care of our house and surrounding landscaping. From start to finish, not counting a few days of rain in between, it took them about 4 days. We love the finished product and our neighbors do too! FTC did another amazing job for us.

A crew of four people did all the painting. They patched all the holes before painting. Everything was done with the utmost care to our furniture and house. Everything was covered and everything was cleaned and put back in place after painting. We had to leave twice for doctor appointments but did not worry about leaving. We have used this company before at a different house and I would definitely use them again if needed.

I was referred to this company by someone who had previously worked in our home and then when I checked Angie's List and found so many positive comments I was confident in using them. Everyone that I came in contact with from Fresh Touch Custom Painting whether by email or in person was very prompt to respond and was very professional. They are very service oriented and made sure I was satisfied with their work during and after it was completed. Our house hadn't been painted for several years and really needed attention. They did a great job and we would certainly recommend them.
Description of Work: Fresh Touch Custom Painting prepped and painted the exterior of our two story + home including two exterior doors, garage door and gutters with Sherwin Williams products (two coats, three in a few areas!) The exterior is all cedar so it was a BIG job. Prep included power washing, covering and taping off windows/lights, scraping, caulking and filling areas where needed. We had them power wash and stain front porch decking and our back deck/stairs. Also had them lightly sand and apply two coats of minwax urathane to our front door and sidelights. We were given a 15% Angie's List member discount.

I received about 8 estimates for painting our house. Fresh Touch was the best price for doing the operations we felt were needed to do a quality job. We were changing colors. They were on time as promised, the work crew was very professional, they cleaned up when they were finished, and went around the house to review the work with us to locate and complete any needed touch ups. They were great and we are very satisfied.

Fresh Touch did an outstanding job. A crew of 5 arrived close to time expected and worked quickly but professionally to finish the job in one afternoon. They cleaned-up everything very well and no follow-up/touch-up work was needed. It was notable that Fresh Touch did not require any down payment for this job, and only sent an invoice after their inspector had come out to make certain we were satisfied with their work. I've hired many painting contractors but have never experienced that level of service before.

It was kind of high. I wish I had shopped around a little bit more. I felt that they didn't use masking everywhere. They got some paint on my siding. I couldn't tell if it was from them or it was from before. I just had them do a color match. They did come out and the person that did some of the inspection did try to correct some of it. I thought the price was kind of high and I was just expecting better quality. I didn't expect it to be perfect but I wasn't happy for the money. I didn't feel like I was getting what I paid for. They did what I asked them to do but it was not perfect. The initial inspection and listening to what I wanted and even their follow up, that part of their business is good. I will possibly use them again. I would definitely want to shop a little bit more.
Description of Work: They painted the exterior trim. I had vinyl siding. In the back deck they painted a small deck at the end of the mailbox.

Thank you for leaving a review. After reading the review I wish you would have shopped around as well. You would have found we were very competitive in pricing. We did a thorough walk through and were in constant communication with you. You seemed very happy. I wish you would have brought up any concerns when we followed up with you. It is hard to help explain results or correct any concerns you may have if you do not let us know. We saw no concerns when our Quality Control Mgr. walked the home. The paint on the siding was old and was noticed prior to work performed. The old paint is a different shade than the new paint. I had our crew attempt to remove any old drips for you but due to the age of the paint drips they were not coming off. If they were new drips cleaning agents would remove the drips. All areas were properly scraped, primed, caulked and painted. It is discouraging to know you do not feel the same way. I will make sure our crew members point out any old imperfections prior to work performed. I will be more than happy to meet with you to explain results and show you the old paint. I apologize your expectations were not met. We hope you consider us in the future.

They showed up as promised for my original estimate. I wasn't ready for painting till later in the summer. When I was, they came back, reconfirmed the job and fit me in near the end of a busy season. Their communication was excellent. They painted and finished when they said they would. After the job was done, we walked the whole house together to make sure I was happy. Everything was clean and neat. I would recommend them to anyone.

Awesome. I met with the estimator in early June and went over the needed work and ended with a plan to do the exterior and interior all in one go. Unfortunately, Ohio turned in to the Seattle of the midwest and the daily rain pushed the work schedule back significantly. Obviously something out of all control. Mark Tabor who I scheduled with was very responsive via phone and email. When they were able to get me on the schedule during the week of Aug 20, he was willing to work with me on scheduling the interior work on the one day that I could be home and not going to required meetings as the school year started. The work crew was polite and friendly. The leader asked me to look over their work. I pointed out a few spots and they were promptly touched up before they left. I think everything looks great. Timeline: 1 day to powerwash exterior, 1 day to scrape, paint exterior, and one day for the interior work. I was impressed with whoever did the powerwashing and managed not to trample my massive garden.
Description of Work: Powerwashed, scraped and repainted all exterior wood trim on my house and attached garage. Repaired drywalling and cracks in the kitchen. Color matched existing paint and repainted two walls.

We were extremely pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the painters and owner. We had the entire house painted in August. Much of the house is stucco and the rest is wood. The entire house was pressure washed about 1 1/2 days prior to the start of painting. The size of the painting crew varied from 3-5 depending on the particular day. We originally contacted Mark Tabor who gave us a quote. We also contacted another company and received a quote. Fresh Touch's quote was considerably lower. In addition to doing a great job painting, the crew was very neat with respect to their workmanship and the protection of the areas that were not to be painted. Much of the first day was spent covering our windows with plastic wrap so paint would not splash onto the glass. They cleaned up at the end of each day. There was a little paint on the screens to the screened in porch and they spent time removing it without being asked. There was a thorough cleaning on the last day of the job. We are very satisfied and would recommend Fresh Touch Custom Painting to anyone planning to have exterior painting done. We plan to use them this winter to paint the interior of our home.

This is the second time I've used Fresh Touch. We had them paint a bedroom using an Angie's Big Deal over the winter. After a great experience we decided to use them for a much bigger job of painting the exterior of our home. The crew did a great job and put in extra hours to finish in a couple days. They were able to transform our eyesore rusty metal shed into a nice looking shed. Their interior paint job was just as good. We asked them to paint the ceiling of the bedroom at the last second and they were able to accommodate our request. They offered a 15% Angie's List discount that made them about the same price as a random guy that painted our neighbors house across the street (and I trust they do all the proper prep steps, have the tools, properly insured etc). Great value and easy to work with. I plan on using them for all future painting needs. Total came to under $5K for stucco exterior (which soaks up lots of paint), metal shed (roof included plus detail work on doors), trim/gutters/doors, garage door, bedroom and ceiling.

This service provider did a fantastic job! Our siding actually looks like new. As new homeowners we were not sure what to expect. The pricing was reasonable and the services were completed fairly quickly after we decided to schedule. Our home looks fantastic and we will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to our friends!

They were professional from start to finish! The workers themselves were polite and extremely hard working. This was a huge job and they worked diligently until they were finished. They answered all my questions in detail and offered their opinion in helping us decide on stain vs paint and color choices. Always friendly and attentive during the whole process. The site supervisor and the owner talked with us several times during the painting and when it was all done, they sent another person out to walk around with me and inspect everything they painted. The owner obviously took pride in his business and stands by his product. Now that it is done it looks like a new house! We have had neighbors walk by and comment on how good it looks. I can't see any paint splashes anywhere, and my windows have absolutely no paint specks on them. We have the leftover paint and the owner offered support in the future if any issues came up with the paint job. I have to say this was one of the smoothest and most professional companies we have dealt with in over 18 years of owning this house. It's so nice to work with a company that takes pride in it's work!
Description of Work: We have a cedar siding house, 2 story with attached 2 story 3 season room and full front porch. They power washed the house and porches, scraped and caulked everything then painted with two coats of paint. They took all the downspouts off to paint. Front and back doors plus the garage doors were painted. We had two colors of paint, one for the siding and one for the trim. They set up and cleaned up. They used Sherwin Williams paint.
