I took 2 sample chairs that I needed reupholstered to their store . Tanya Newland made some recommendations on the fabric to use. She also explained the process for getting it done. She gave me the option to either have them pick up the chairs or I could just remove the cushions and bring them in. Fortner gave me a very competitive quote, but I ended up going with someone else that could pick up the chairs the same day. Tanya explained that she could have expedited the reupholstery if I had mentioned it. All in I could not be happier with the store, the staff, and Tanya. I will make sure use them in the future.

Called them about the sectional sofas that needed upholstered and repaired. Diana asked me to send pictures in their email address, which I did. I did not get any response from the company for couple weeks. I emailed her again asking about it, but no response to that either.

The cushion on a favorite chair became damaged (new puppy). I thought we would need to have it reupholstered since the fabric was no longer available. I went to Fortner's. Monica helped me search for the fabric, but nothing would match. However, she suggested a way it could be fixed without redoing the entire chair. They were able to take some fabric from the chair (an unseen part) and repair the cushion. Although I didn't have to have the chair completely reupholstered, they still treated it with importance. It looks great. One would never know it had been badly damaged.

This Quality work was done at the Johnstown road location . Excellent attentive service through estimates, fabric selection , and final upholstery job. Absolutely georgeous work with great attention to details. The job done for us far exceeds any expectations!!!! I would recommend this company to any one who expects excellent upholstery work and a prompt courteous pick up crew .

I felt the price was a little bit on the high side. I checked a lot of online reviews. I wanted to make sure they could do the job because the fabric was a very heavy fabric and there would not be any problems replacing the zipper. Just time and time again, they were the ones who came up that's a good choice.

The woman helping me was very nice and very helpful. She let me try several options to see what firmness I wanted. No payment was needed until I picked up the cushions. I am very pleased with them.

It went extraordinarily well. We dropped off the cushions on a Friday and they were completed by Monday. They did an excellent job. We will be using them again.

They do extraordinary work. They came and got it while we were on vacation, and did the work while we were gone. They're very meticulous.

Fortner's did a fine job and delivered the finished furniture on schedule.

All nicely done in a very short timeframe. Craig was excellent to work with and very responsive. I'm so happy with the back cushions in particular; the old down stuffing was way too soft from the start and the sofa always looked messy because they were so shapeless.. New filling is wrapped foam, and the cushions are now supportive, comfortable, and neat looking. It's like a new sofa!

They had to take it back twice. The upholstering job was terrible along with the wood trim replacement. The nails twice were protruding out from replacing the wood trim. The upholstery on one of the cushions measured 1 1/2 inches shorter then the other cushion and the back of the couch upholstery needed to be redone due to the improper way they did it. Unfortunately, I will never reuse them again. They did not offer a discount off their shotty work. They did pay for my extra fabric I ordered to redo the job. They needed about 15 yards and they had me order 17, so I had extra to do redo the cushion. Not happy with the work at all. It appears that there was no quality check on the work that is done there. They were nice about taking it back both times, but never appeared to check their work. It is amazing a company that has been around this long has this kind of work. I was very unsatisfied.

When the completion date arrived and we did not hear from them we called and were told that the material was on back order. When I expressed my frustration we were not notified and given the opportunity to pick another fabric that would have meet our needs an apology was offered. The final finished project was completed and we were satisfied in the end but would expect for the money we would have been given better communication and delivery time.

I like the fact that they were upfront and direct about what to do or not to do. They gave me some advice. We essentially had a whole chair re-upholstered and they said, "No, you don't want to do that. It's just more money than it's worth. You're better off just getting it fixed or replaced." We opted to get it fixed. They did what they said they would do. Responsiveness was good.

The new cushions are firm the pillows look great in the contrasting fabric. We now have a new sofa. It is so much more comfortable than it used to be and it looks amazing. The workmanship is superb. The seams align with one another and is great to look at. Excellent job!

I found Fortner's on Angie's List and stopped by late one afternoon. The chair fit in my car so I had brought it with me. I explained I wanted to redo it in black leather (the old foam was crumbling and I didn't like the rust colored suede currently on the chair) and they explained why they thought suede would be a better choice. I listened to their voice of experience. Once they started pricing it, I realized it was going to be very, very expensive to do as I'd have to buy a whole hide. They took careful measurements and realized that if they could find a dealer who sold half-hides, it would be big enough for my chair. They made a few phone calls and found what they needed. I took a few days to think about it and went forward with the project. They'd told me the chair would be ready late July but it was ready mid-July. I had a great experience with Fortner and would definitely use them again.

I went into Fortner's months before I had the furniture reupholstered to look at sample books for fabric, the staff was very friendly and knowledgable. I had been to two other shops and nobody else explained to me that I needed to choose a fabric that could be railroaded, installed sideways, otherwise my camel backed sofa would have a seam in the middle. So I took several fabric books home, it took months to decide, but I picked the appropriate fabrics. I took the books back with my selected fabrics, Fortner's ordered the fabrics, then 2 of the nicest guys came and picked-up the sofas. Two and a half weeks later, Fortner's called me to setup a delivery date and time, the guys came on time and delivered my beautiful like new sofas. About a week later I noticed that the one sofa was lower on top on one side (probably from the dog sitting on the back of the sofa on that one side) I called and asked if that could be fixed, Craig offered to come to the house and look at the sofa but I suggested emailing a photo of the sofa. After looking at the photo he called and setup a pickup date for the sofa, they repaired the problem in less than a week and re-delivered the sofa. Now the sofa does look brand new! They did a great job on the sofas, but the best part of my experience was when I called about the problem with the one sofa, no one complained or made excuses, the staff remained friendly and professional the entire process.

I had 2 expensive sofas that were very structurally sound, but the cushions had become compressed and the filling had shifted over the years. Fortner Upholstery was very easy to work with. I simply took the cushions in to them. They recommended restuffing the bottom cushions on both sofas. For the back cushions, they recommended sewing an interior lining on the cushions and reusing the same filling (the liners would prevent the filling from shifting in the future). So, this is what we did. Their prices are not cheap, but they do a very good job. My only complaint is that they are not very good about getting back to you when your job is done. They say that they will call you, but they never do. It's up to you to call and see if your upholstery is finished and ready to pick up. Also, the job took a bit longer than they had estimated. Otherwise, all employees are very friendly and helpful.

They were very friendly and responsive. We brought the cushions there on Monday and they were finished on Wednesday. They look and feel much better now. Like a new sofa!

Their quality of work was excellent. I liked what they produced for me the most. It was exactly as we designed it. My experience with them was fine.

The experience was a very good experieince and I would definitely recommend their services to others. I had called 2 other upholsterers and neither had the ability to replace the springs as I had desired nor was I totally sold on their years of experience/education. First of all, Fortners had so many, many, many fabric swatches to choose from and I was guided to make an excellent selection by one of their designers. Being able to take swatches home to see what each would look like in my room, really helped confirm my selections. Second, I was impressed with the fact that they had been in business for a couple of generations, making quality their #1 goal. Third, I was not pressured with a couple different estimates for the one job nor was someone trying to "talk" me into using their services by telling me how great they were at doing this type of service-very professional, yet down to earth and friendly. It was a little more money than I had wanted to spend but I felt that I was getting what I had paid for instead of a half done job. When I went to pick up my sofas, I could not believe my eyes! They looked as if they had just come off of a factory assemby line! As I carefully examined each piece, inside, outside, upside down, I saw quality work, (and I am particular). I was not expecting perfection but it was close to it. Having replaced the springs, this gave the sofas a much better feel when sitting down and there was no doubt that I had been given new foam and padding rather than just using the old stuff as some upholsterers do. Everything was done exactly as I had asked. My accent chairs were completed a few months later and I was just as satisfied with them also. Fortner's was always on time with finishing both upholstering jobs and returning my phone calls. I did not have to wait for either. My sofas were almost designated for the landfill and now they are proudly sitting in my formal living room. One day, they will be passed down as family heirlooms thanks to Fortner's quality work.

I stopped one day at Fortner's on Fifth Avenue to find a new fabric for my old sofa; Diane was the best help, very patience and knowledgeable. I received an estimate, ok'd it and scheduled a time for the company to pick it up. They did warn me that the sofa would not be ready by Christmas; no problem, we weren't entertaining this year. When the sofa was ready to be delivered they called to see when was the best time for me; and asked if I had wanted the warranted "Stain Guard" applied. I remembered talking to Diane about it but them promptly forgot; I agreed that it was a good price and hopefully will never have to use it to it's fullest extent. The delivery guys managed to get the heavy sleeper sofa around corners, past the stairs and into the library without any damage to walls or sofa. It looks great. I plan to use this company again, sooner rather than later.

I stumbled upon Fortner Furnishings when I lived in Bexley a few years ago. Not sure if they’d fit my budget, I told them exactly what I was hoping for: update some pieces of furniture that I’d been hanging onto for a while, nothing too fancy more modern but still durable enough for kids/dogs. I wasn’t sure if they’d want my business because I was under the assumption they just did larger corporate accounts. Turns out, Fortner caters to homeowners, even those on a limited budget. They have tons of samples and were able to answer my questions about their unique product lines. They have edgier product lines there too, like Knoll. (It’s not just your traditional “little old lady” floral prints.) Fortner was able to see my vision for my pieces. Since then we moved into a mid century modern, a house that is really different from our other home. It required new furniture and a new way to look at how to use space. We inherited the furniture that came with the house (mixed blessing) which required reupholstering. Fortner, again, was wonderful with our questions and requests. We will continue to use them for all our “finds” big and small!

They are very professional and do a great job. This couch will last me another 10 years.
