The technician, Dawn, arrived promptly, at the scheduled time, and got right to work. Even though it had been some years since our AC unti was serviced, Dawn made sure she left it in fine working order, inluding cleaning the unit 'til it looked like new.
Description of Work: The technician, Dawn, performed an inspection and tune-up of our central air conditioning. This was purchased as an Angie's List deal.

+ -1 moreF&I came out and was on time and very professional. They inspected our HVAC unit (took about 1/2 hour) and recommended a new filter type and stated everything functioned properly. There was no real upsell (except for a maintenance contract which was a good deal but I passed on) by the maintenance tech and I felt the service provided was more than fair for the price. I will certainly call on F&I in the future as they were very professional.
Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal for an A/C tune up from Fire and Ice. I am glad I did with the heat this summer as it provided a little more confidence that my A/C unit was up for all of the time it would eventually run.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. Scheduling was easy. I left a message late in the day, and someone called me back first thing the next morning, scheduling an appointment for just a day or two out. The technician is great--very polite and thorough. We purchased a contract with Fire and Ice based on the strength of this checkup and one we had done previously. The prices for a checkup are very reasonable, as is the contract price (which includes free diagnostic service should anything be wrong with a heating or A/C unit. Just a very dependable, friendly, professional, reasonably priced company who gives us the assurance that our heating and A/C has been thoroughly checked. What's more, we have Trane heating and cooling, and Fire and Ice technicians are specialists in Trane systems (among others).
Description of Work: I should state first that the $219 is for a plan from Fire and Ice that includes our summer A/C and winter heater inspection; it also covers the cost of diagnostics should we need a service call in the future. Their basic summer or winter checkup is $99. We used them last year, and they did not push us in any way to sign a contract; in fact, when I called to schedule this appointment (for our A/C), they saw they we had been customers and still quoted the normal rate without pushing for a contract. Our service technician was wonderful, and she presented the possibility of a service contract to my wife, who called me. The tech explained them to me, but there was NO pushy upselling at all. I feel very comfortable having Fire and Ice look at our heating and A/C. Their techs are courteous and professional, and they seem VERY thorough. The people in the office are also pleasant to deal with and professional. I was able to schedule an appointment very quickly. The technician did a full, thorough check on the A/C, giving us a report on air flow, air return, etc.

Recommended additional freon be added and waited for permission to continue with that. Spoke to us about the equipment's condition and care of it. Gave us additional tips for keeping our home cool. Very professional.
Description of Work: Bought the deal and paid an additional $85 for freon added to my a/c. Very professional. Gave us good advice. Performed services as stated and arrived a little early which was appreciated. Would recommend and would use again.

They found a crack in the firebox of the old furnace ( 18 years old ) and told us that the firebox itself would likely be under warrenty ( two other companies did not mention this to us) Fire and Ice checked it out with the mfg. and it was under warrenty. However, the labor to pull the unit apart and install it would be about half of a new unit. We opted for the latter. They did an excellent job, and threw in both a fall service as well as a free summer service of the AC unit.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreI got him from Angie's List. I loved him. The guy was real nice and he didn't even charge me for coming out. My furnace and my hot water tank are in a little room in my garage because I only have a basement. This noise kept coming from that room and I thought it was my furnace. He looked it all over, tested and said that it was the hot water tank. He didn't even charge me for coming out. He's probably definitely the one I'll call to come and clean my furnace. He was so great that he didn't charge me to come out and check something when there wasn't even anything wrong with it. He did it for free because there wasn't anything wrong with my furnace. He said he thought it was my hot water tank which is just right beside my furnace. It later turned out that my hot water tank sprang a leak and I had to have somebody come in and put a new hot water tank so he was probably right. He was very personable. I'm real busy with some things in the house but before I have to start my furnace again I will definitely have him out to clean the furnace.

Description of Work: The technician arrived within the specified appointment window. She did a thorough job examining the A/C system in our house, and explained what she was doing throughout the process. She was very knowledgeable and pleasant, and ensured that she did not make a mess in our house (it was raining outside!) while performing the service. I would definitely use Fire and Ice again. Reasonable price, honest service, and great value received!

+ -1 moreWe got an Angie's List deal for a replacement air conditioner online. Maggie came in before the installation to do the set-up for the installation. Very professional and friendly. The Fire and Ice techs (Phil and Danny) were on time, courteous and professional, great guys. Total time for the changeover was about 5 hours in and out. The guys were very neat, cleaned up everything and there was no evidence that they were ever there except for the new a/c unit. We would recommend Fire and Ice without hesitation.

+ -1 moreWe called Fire & Ice in to provide heating and cooling tune-ups, and they found a crack in the furnace that was cause for concern, and our gas was shut off as a precaution. Our furnace was over 20 yrs old and our AC unit over 30 yrs old, so we made the decision to replace everything at once. We were very pleased with Fire & Ice. They were very professional and courteous.
Description of Work: Fire & Ice installed new furnace, central AC unit and bypass humidifyer. They also performed a full house air duct cleaning.

Unfortunately, I needed a new air conditioning unit due to an attempted theft/vandalism. The comfort consultant came to see me that same evening to discuss prices, waranties, etc. I did not get the new unit installed until Friday morning, but that was because I had to wait for my insurance claim to be processed. I called Fire & Ice on Thursday afternoon to tell them the insurance claim was processed and the installers came out Friday morning. Everyone person I came in contact with was responsive, friendly and very professional.
Description of Work: First I had a service technician look at my air conditioning unit for repair. After it was determined that it could not be repaired, then I had a new air conditioning unit installed.
