The insulation done for the other sides was done, promptly, and I have no complaints about it. Earlier this year, I sent two emails and also left voice mail, for the front of the house to be done, prior to having the inside of our house painted. I got no response - not even once. I consider this EXTREMELY unprofessional, especially since at the beginning, the job was split into two parts.
Description of Work: We asked for insulation to be blown into the walls. The quote was split into two parts - front of house, and remaining sides. The front was scheduled for later, as it had to be accessed from the inside, since the outside was stucco, and a quote was given, to be done later, before we the inside walls painted.

Response from Energy Tech Insulation
We would be more than happy to do the insulation work as per the request for the price we gave the client in 2009. Please have the client call me or email. The original est. was dated 12/4/2009 at that time the work was separated into 2 parts. The client choose not to do the front wall. We did the remaining work to their satisfaction. Over 1 year later the wanted the 2nd part completed amount of 200.00. We are sorry but we did not receive the emails and this was overlooked. We have called numerous times and have received no call back. We are sorry for the confusion and are willing to perform the work. Glen Kubinski, president.

The overall work in the home went very well. The problems I encountered were with the sales/ estimating/scheduling functions. The estimator said I would get my estimate by e-mail in 2-3 days. I had to call a few times and got it in 1 1/2 weeks. Getting the work scheduled required many phone calls with agreements to call back which never happened. I realize the company was under a lot of pressure from the Columbia Gas Audit program, but the response was very poor. The Columbia Gas program provided the names of 4-6 other insulation/sealing companies, but only 2 had an acceptable Angies List recommendation. Energy Tech provided the best estimate for my situation, but it was difficult getting the work scheduled and completed. The workers were very efficient, polite, and completed the work as planned.
Description of Work: Energy Tech provided air infiltration package and seal penetrations for rim joists in the basement. This work was designed to reduce air and cold penetration in the basement as identified in a Columbia Gas audit. The actual cost was Energy Tech's minimum charge of $350 with a rebate of $120 to the contractor. The total time involved was about 2 hours of 2 experienced workers.

The estimator was punctual and knowledgeable. The men who came to blow in the insulation were punctual and worked steadily. Tarps were put down to keep our home clean. The only concern was that one of the men walked around our home covered with insulation after being in the attic and blowing in the insulation; therefore, dropping the cellulose around our kitchen and living room. In general, they did an excellent job.
Description of Work: We had cellulose insulation blown in to the attic and above the garage.

Company was contacted to give an estimate. Answering service gave a number were estimator could be reached. Several calls had to be made to schedule an appointment. Once an appointment was made representative showed up early, reviewed job without meeting (missed appointment) with home owner and then never called or sent estimate. Called estimator 4-5 times before he returned phone call. He indicated that he had no record of the estimate. Attempted to set new appointment, but he would never answer or return phone calls, this went on for 3-4 weeks. Still have not heard anything from them. it appears they are not in need of work.

Excellent. A crew 2 arrived a little late but I said they could do a smaller job in my house before mine and there were issues that caused them to be late. They quickly started to set up and one of the crew explained everything to me and then proceeded to get to work. They were nice to point out that one of my plants was in the way and I quickly removed it for them (it will grow back!). They were done with the entire job in about 4 hours. This was part of a home energy audit program, well worth the money!

I had a Home Energy Audit performed through Columbia Gas. My modest income qualified me for additional rebates so I was able to get the house insulated at no cost to me. The woman that did the audit put the call in to Energy Tech that I wanted to take advantage of the program. She said they would call in few days. A week passed and I heard from no one. I asked the auditor to give me their number. She gave me Glenn's name and number. I left a message and waited a few days. Then I got the company number and left a message. A woman called back the next day and gave me Glenn's number again. So I called him again. My work scheduled apparently prevented us from meeting in person. I faxed him some items from the energy audit, he said he would do a drive by and send me an estimate. We got the work scheduled for 11/1/10. He was supposed to come by on 10/15/10 since I had that day off to look things over, but he forgot. I e-mailed that moring to see if he was still coming. He called later that afternoon to apoligize and said not to worry everything was good. I had to work the day the install was scheduled. I left a key out for them to get in. John (1 of the installers) called me about 8:30. I told him where the key was and then I remembered I forgot to crate the dog. I was worried they might reschedule, but John was cool about it. I told him the dog is friendly and where the crate and treats were. He crated our dog and got to work. My brother went by my house about 2pm and they were still working. They removed the cedar shakes to drill holes so you cannot tell anything was disturbed. Really the only evidence of their time there were things from the pantry on the table they need to move to get to the attic. I think overall it was a good job...time will definitely tell in terms of heating bills (there was not a single fiber of insulation in the walls!). I gave them a "c" for responsiveness for slow turn around on phone calls and e-mails, but an overall "A" because I think the home Energy Audits are making them extremely busy and maybe a bit overwhelmed. The really important thing to me is they showed up to do the work when promised and did it...just in time for winter!

Glen was professional and knowledgeable, but he was difficult to reach by phone and it often took several days for him to return phone calls. Overall his technicians did a good job; however, there was a gap around ductwork running into the attic where air sealing would need to be performed prior to blowing loose fill insulation. I pointed this out to the installers, but they failed to seal this gap prior to blowing insulation. I didn't notice this error until after they had left, and I discovered several gallons of loose fill insulation which had fallen through the opening into the area below making quite a mess. I called Glen, and he had another of his installers come out to fix the problem. I had already paid the bill, so to his credit he stood behind his work and corrected his installers' mistake (which means a lot).

I had three estimates for this job. Glenn spent the most time reviewing what we had and then determining what he needed to have done to reach our desired goal. His estimate was easy to read and understand. The crew cleaned up so well you wouldn't even know they were here. It was a pleasure to have workers that were able to tell you what they were doing, didn't waste time standing around, and obviously took pride in their work. I would highly recommend Energy Tech.

About $250 after rebates from Columbia Gas program. Excellent, excellent, excellent! In my opinion, you can't go wrong by calling Energy Tech Insulation! This was a very good experience from start to finish. Glen, the owner came to give me an estimate for insulating my home. His examination was professional and extensive. Included in his recommendations, was that I call Columbia gas to have them do a whole house energy audit (he can tell you more). The audit, he explained, was only $50 (about a $500 value, subsidized by Columbia) and depending on what they determined, I'd get rebates for any work done which was recommended. Following the audit I called the other authorized providers to get estimates from them, one of which I had quote me prior to Glen's first visit; and that company never told me about the Columbia Gas program. After my comparison of contractors I selected Glen, in part because he told me about the cost savings possible from Columbia Gas, and even if he had been higher in cost I knew he would get preference for that reason. But he was also the best priced. After all the rebates, I only paid about $250 for a job that would have been $1100. But the most important element to me is that he did even more than I ever expected. His crew filled places I never knew needed insulating. Also he added the garage ceiling insulation part, which was covered with rebates, on his say-so, even though the "audit" did not have it as needed. I say again; in my opinion, you can't go wrong by calling Energy Tech Insulation! Also, they can advise you about how to get the Columbia Gas rebates.
Description of Work: Insulation added to attic, filled second story under-floor exposed by overhangs on the outside, garage ceiling under second floor living space, seal and insulate around basement sill, filled space under kitchen wall extension, seal any air leaks, and insulate the crawl space walls. The crawl space was not something covered under the Columbia Gas rebate program which they are one of a few authorized contractors. (Note the air leaks are found by installing a strong suction fan to the front door opening creating a sort of vacuum.)

Our house was built in 1956 and the insulation is original. Energy Tech was one of the companies suggested to us by a roofer we are considering using next year for a roof. Glen was quite thorough, and at the end told me about a program run through Columbia Gas whereby a good bit of my costs for the insulation would be reimbursed. So we got the energy audit, which of course indicated that we needed attic insulation as well as a couple other things, and we employed Energy Tech to carry out those duties. The guys came just a little late as their GPS couldn't find my home (wrong spelling of street will do it every time) and worked all day to get everything done. They got here around 9 and left around 4:30. They were cordial and answered any questions I had. They knew what they were doing, didn't need any handholding and wouldn't even accept water or soda from me! They appeared to do a fine job and I'm happy with it. Most of all, I'm happy with the reimbursement check I'm going to get! :)

They arrived, they blew in insulation, they left. It ended up being a bit messy for us because we had removed all the baseboards and trim to remodel, but still it is worth the mess.
Description of Work: We lived in a house built in 1930 with no insulation. Energy Tech blew insulation into the walls and we couldn't believe the difference. Our drafty, always chilly house, is now comfortable. We were so sad that we lived in it for six miserable winters when we could have spent only $1500 and been warm. We are very pleased.

Glenn was very good at explaining what needed to be done and helping us navigate the current rebates. He made pertinent suggestions about adding insulation to spaces we had not considered. He was familiar with the construction of the houses in our neighborhood which were built in the early 60's and that familiarity helped him make appropriate suggestions. The crew was a little late, but they called to let us know when they would be coming. They: worked steadily when they were here, were courteous, covered the areas where they were working and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. Due to the current rebate programs, the company is very busy, so there were some delays getting work started and returning calls, but in the end it was worth it. My daughter's room is over our garage. She has already noted that her room has been more comfortable, even with the past few weeks of very hot temperatures.
Description of Work: Blown in insulation of attic, garage walls, & space above front entry door. Added bat insulation to basement overhangs. (Our cost was reduced by current energy saving incentives, then we received additional rebates after the above cost was paid.)

I was very pleased. They were very good and I would recommend them. The gentleman that came out did the most thorough inspection of our attic of anyone and I was impressed with that. He really took the time to figure out what we needed in the way of upgrades to our insulation. His quote wasn't the lowest but it was competitive. I was so impressed with the thoroughness of his inspection and evaluation and that is why I hired them. I have no complaints whatsoever. The price was fair and I had gotten a few bids. They did it right and we have noticed a big difference in our air conditioning. Our house is staying cooler. I thought the price was fair and competitive for what they did. I had another price that was exorbitant. They showed up on time and did everything they said they would.
