No problems. They did have to complete the work in two days vs one, but having it done properly was more important. Asa well have having the same team return to complete the job.
Description of Work: They arrived on time and completed everything to our satisfaction. House is amazingly warmer. We had them blow insulation in from the inside of the house vs the outside and aside from moving furniture, it went very well.

The initial consultation was great. I received a detailed write up of all the services that were to be performed. The fellows doing the work were very professional and nice. They were very helpful in filling out the AHP rebate paperwork. I was thrilled with the service and would certainly recommend this company to others!

I got a couple estimates and he gave a very detailed estimate of what he was going to do. The other company didn't seem to think he needed to tell me what he was going to do. They were very neat. My neighbors commented that they were very polite when they saw them outside. He also told me about an AEP refund that I could get that I didn't know about.

I thought they did a good overall and it made a big difference in the amount of energy wasted in our home. In fact they reduced the airflow by 30%25252525252525252525252525252525252525252525252525. I was happy with their work, however their organization and professionalism was lacking. For instance, I had purchased my own insulation and they tried to take the remainder with them and I had to make them unload it from their truck. They also left some of their tools behind, which I saved for them and they had to return to get them. The price was fair since we received a few rebates which brought our costs down significantly. I would consider using them again if I needed to.

I decided to go with Energy Tech based on the reviews I read on Angie's List. I had an energy audit performed in October of 2011 through Columbia Gas. The audit resulted in some 'simple' insulation work to be completed but I had to use one of the contractors the audit company provides on a list so I chose Energy Tech. I'm so glad I did. When Energy Tech came out for an estimate Glen caught SEVERAL areas the energy audit person missed. I had two rooms that were always cold so Glen scanned the ceiling (in an area of my house without a second floor) and found out that I had no inslulation in either of the rooms - energy audit person totally missed that one.. I immediatly contacted the audit people back to explain what Glen found, they said I had to provide proof that I had no insluation in order to get work completed and the rebate approved (which irritated me). Glen said not to worry, when they came back to do the work I was able to take pictures and email them to the audit people proving I had no insulation. In the end I received my rebates from the energy audit company. After the rebate my total cost was approx $250. I have nothing but a positive review for Energy Tech, they arrived on time and worked all day. The employees were fantastic, I highly recommend Energy Tech. Glen really knows his stuff! Thank you Glen!

They came on time and worked for several hours. Several closets had insulation installed and they do seem to be not as cold. One thing seemed to be somewhat careless on their part. They apparently turned on a power outlet strip to use to plug in their equipment. Also plugged into the strip was a vaporizer that had been turned off, by turning off the power strip. (It has no separate way to turn it off). When they were done, they left the power strip on, and I didn't notice that it was on until much later. Fortunately, nothing happened, but it could have been a dangerous thing to do.
Description of Work: We had an audit from the Gas Co. and learned of areas that needed more insulation, even though we had had insulation put in a few years ago. Energy Tech came and put in the insulation.

The company rep who came out to make the estimate was very professional and took me around to show me everything they would do. He pointed out several areas that the other companies who did estimates didn't notice. I received the written estimate in a timely manner and was put on the schedule for the first available date - about a month from the estimate. The workers who did the job arrived on time and worked steadily. It took two full days to complete the job. They cleaned up after themselves and were courteous and pleasant. The difference in the comfort level in my home is amazing - I am able to turn down the thermostat and still the furnace doesn't come on very often, even when it's cold. I am very pleased with the whole experience I had with this company.

All was fine until the end. When the tarp was pulled up, a half-dollar size grease or tar spot was on our carpet. The employee was obviously quite upset about it and tried to blot it up with paper towels. It didn't appear to be getting any better, so I suggested calling a carpet cleaner, since the sooner a stain is treated, the better the chances of getting the stain out. The employee insisted that he would get it out (he was very nervous and I feel he was worried about losing his job). He worked and worked and began rubbing the carpet, which I asked him not to do. I got out a bottle of carpet spot cleaner and we tried that numerous times. Slowly it began to improve. But when he decided it was all gone, I could still see it, and so could the other employee. He promised he would call Glenn, the owner. So I waited and waited all afternoon for Glenn to call me. He never called, so I worked to get more grease out of the spot. I got quite a bit more grease up, but I can still see where the spot was and the nap on the carpet is fuzzy in that area now. I was very unhappy. Two days later Glenn still had not called. I didn't know if the employee had failed to tell Glenn or if Glenn just wasn't being responsive. So I called Glenn two days after I had heard nothing. He said he was with his family for Christmas, and that he had planned to call me on Tuesday (this would have been 6 days later). So it was left that he would call me on Tuesday. He called at home on Tuesday, but I was at work. I returned his call late in the afternoon and told him that I would be home all day Wednesday. Glenn never called. I feel that this unresponsiveness is very unprofessional and not at all service oriented to the customer. I might also add that the employees did not clean up elsewhere very well either. There was insulation in the bedroom, all over my inside door rug and all over the front door mat.
Description of Work: We received an estimate for attic insulation and air sealing and decided to go ahead, especially since after rebates the cost to us would only be $187.

It was a very good experience and they did a good job. They had to take off aluminum siding from the house and put it back on and I was wondering how they were going to do that but they did and with no problem and they did the job as quick as they could. Their lead worker was here and his knee went out really bad that one day and so they had to end early but they came back right away and took care of everything and it was a good experience. It was really good because I had gotten an estimates from others through that program and they had the best price and they even found me another AEP assessment that took another $240 off that price and that was that last one I just did and they found extra rebates and things. They were here the moment they said they would.

Getting in touch with Energy Tech to schedule an estimate was pretty challenging and slow. A couple of calls weren't returned at all, another call was returned two days later. Maybe they are overworked but their responsiveness is not very good. Glen is somewhat easier to get in touch with, but again still slow to return calls at times. That said, everything else was handled very professionally. They were punctual for the estimate and the actual work done. Gave us a very reasonable estimate (25% less than closest competitor) and stuck to it. Courteous estimator and workers and good quality work (even if it was a simple job) and materials.

I held off posting this review based on an issue discovered in the early spring of 2010 after the work was complete and continued to investigate thru this summer. The invoice for the work completed clearly stated they plugged all holes they drilled in the walls behind the vinyl siding. First off, the walls of our old house are much warmer than they previously were and the heat is held much better in the house. The issue that was discovered in the spring after the work was completed was that the holes drilled behind the vinyl siding in an area on the back of the house were not plugged. Over the next year, during repair of some areas of vinyl siding, we discovered the workers did not plug the holes they drilled, so we now have holes all over the outside of our house under our siding. The only area I have found plugs are on a section of the front of the house and their idea of and quot;pluggingand quot; the holes is to take the original wood that was drilled out and wedge it back into the hole sideways which doesn't actually plug the hole. It is very disappointing to trust a company to perform the work they specify in the estimate and invoice only to find they clearly skipped a very important step and have left our house riddled with exposed holes under the vinyl siding. We had previously used Energy Tech for insulation work, but will certainly not be using them in the future.

They are a great group. The gas company was involved in it and also because of all the rebates; the price came up to probably around $2500. Everything was really excellent. The gentleman who came out first was the owner of the company which I felt was the way it should be. He's very precise and he told us exactly what they were going to do. His crew came exactly when they said they would. They were delayed by thirty minutes one time but they called ahead and told me of the slight delay. They did a good job. They did what they said they were going to do. In fact I have already recommended them to my neighbor next door. Their price was very competitive. I think it was fair. Their quality was excellent. I was happy with the products they used and the manner in which they installed it. Their communication was excellent. There was only one slight change about their timing and I was well informed ahead of it. It was a minimal amount of time. When they said they would be here between thirty minutes and forty minutes, they were here in thirty minutes. They weren't trying to dodge me. They told me why they were going to be late and I fully understood that. They kept their word. They knew what they were doing. They were punctual. They said that they would be here at 8.30 in the morning and that's exactly when they were there. They were in there in a couple of minutes. When they were late by thirty minutes, they said that they would be here by 9am but they were here a couple of minutes before 9am. They arrived again exactly when they said they would. You could tell that they knew what they were doing and they volunteered some information, so the lay person would understand what they were doing. That's kind of comforting too, to have them take you into their confidence. They are reliable and very trust worthy. I will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Energy Tech Insulation. I used their services last week. They did the complete insulation of the entire house. They did the upstairs. They went outside and took the siding strips off and drilled holes may be every sixteen inches around the entire house. They insulated between all the studding. They went downstairs and filled up anywhere there's a pipe going; from the basement up to the floors it was all insulated. So they completely insulated the house.

We contacted Energy Tech after getting an evaluation by the Columbus Gas home energy efficiency audit program. They arrived for the estimate on time and made the estimate easier to understand than other contractors we contacted. We were not sure we wanted to do the exterior walls because of the need to drill holes in the walls. Energy Tech explained the process and how it would be relatively easy to apply finish coats of spackling and re-paint. (They were right!) They arrived on time to do the work, and did the work as promised. As planned, they were done in two days, and everything was cleaned up when they left.
Description of Work: Seal attic floor and blow in additional insulation; drill exterior walls, blow in insulation, plug holes and apply 1st coat of spackling; Insulate walls of crawl space; install external vent for existing bath fan; air sealing.

We were very pleased with Glen and Energy Tech. We had waited about 60 days after our Columbia Gas Audit to contact Glen so we only had 30 days to get the work completed. Glen was able to fit us in so we would be reimbursed. The men that did the job were very thorough. They did a very good job removing our paneling outside and adding the insulation, you can't even tell it was done. They also did a good job cleaning up when they were finished the job. They were excellent and we would definitely hire them again.

I was pleased with them. It was part of a Columbia Gas reimbursement for additional insulation. They were one of the multiple companies that were listed for us to choose from. Initially, I was not getting a call back from them, which I thought was strange. They had a glitch with somebody in the office who was sick. They really rallied and thought my business. The Columbia gas reimbursement scenario had some challenging timeframe issues. It was like once I have the initial energy audit done I had to have something scheduled within 30 days or I will lose the benefits. I was not aware that the second appointment was not completion. It was just an additional inspection evaluation and estimate. It had to be completed within 90 days from the first appointment of the energy audit and it was really challenging to do. Energy Tech Insulation was really huge about getting that done because they could not do the service until Columbia Gas signed off on it. They could not get them to sign off on it, but they were willing to schedule me well within the 90 days without that certification, which only came in a matter of days before the appointment. It was great. It was a smart business for me. I would use their service in the future too.
Description of Work: I used Energy Tech Insulation service for insulation as well as air sealing. I last used their service in March.
