Glenn was very responsive to my request for an estimate for insulating and wall sound proofing. He seemed very knowledgeable. He was professional, prompt and easy to talk to. His price was very good. I went with another company who although had a higher price, seemed to have more safety items in mind and higher rating for the insulation. I would definitely consider them for another job.

Workers were knowledgeable and professional. They corrected previous work by another vendor that was not on bid, by turning and reinstalling roll insulation in two large crawl spaces so that vapor barrier was placed correctly. Insulation had not been pushed against floorboards properly, leaving an air gap, and bid was only to push insulation in and install holding clips. Workers were unwilling to leave vapor barrier uncorrected. Holes made in garage for blown-in insulation were properly plugged, sealed, and primered. They explained their work, answered questions, and completed an excellent clean up. Owner, Glen is responsive by cell phone. They encouraged me to call if I had questions, and assured me they would return quickly to handle any problems. I highly recommend their work.
Description of Work: Blown insulation in garage (walls, ceiling). Added insulation to laundry room, kitchen, and family room attics. Reinstalled roll insulation and added wall insulation to two crawl spaces.

It was extremely informative. Glen took me through the house and demonstrated the infrared scan for me. I have a 50's era home, and the scan easily pointed out which walls were insulated and which weren't (which was most). The blower door test also was eye opening -it was amazing the leaks it revealed. I haven't had any work done yet, but I was very pleased with the information that Glen and his company provided.
Description of Work: I had this company out to do an energy analysis. They came out and did an evaluation of the existing insulation in my home. This included a blower door test to locate air leaks and a scan with an infrared camera to "peek" inside the walls.

The only surprise was when the first crew to arrive said they were only doing the first part. I was told the day of the job that this would be a two day job. I had only taken one day off of work expecting the entire job to be done. I made a call to the owner Glen Kubinski and left him a voicemail with my surprise and confusion. Within 20 minutes two more guys showed up at my house to do the other part of the job. In the end all the work was done within one day. They cleaned up exceptionally well for such a dirty job. There was supposed to be a small third part that involved work in the basement but the workers didn't have the materials to do that part. I have yet to schedule again.
Description of Work: The job was two parts. Blown in cellulose insulation into the exterior walls and additional insulation in the knee-wall and collar areas.

After my initial call, it took a couple of days to schedule a visit. The estimate was in the ballpark of others I received. However, I decided to go with another firm based solely on the fact its estimate was about $60 less and I deemed the firms to be of equal quality. I would have no hesitation contacting Energy Tech again.

The visit was great. Glen Kubinski performed the work himself and he was very honest with me, I felt comfortable with him in my home, and he was kind enough to let me follow him and view the thermal camera over his shoulder while he examined the home. With the camera he was able to tell me the true story and let the data speak for itself, rather than trying to sell me on needless services (as other insulation contractors attempted before I called Energy Tech).
Description of Work: Energy Tech provided me with a thermal camera analysis. We have owned our home for 2+ years and after two cold winters, I was not sure if we had insulation in the walls. Energy Tech confirmed that we do indeed have blown fiberglass in our walls, but the camera analysis showed me other peculiarities that cause cold spots in our home. After inspecting the attic, I received a proposal to blow in cellulose over the top of the already present blown-in fiberglass. The thermal camera analysis was invaluable, and it taught me more about my insulation issues than I had examined on my own. I have not yet acted upon the proposal for blown in cellulose because I am removing the blown in fiberglass from the attic so that I can make some structural and electrical modifications.

The most important thing is that they were willing to remove the old insulation. Other insulation companies that bid on the project would not do that part of the work. Energy Tech came promptly to give me an estimate and were very professional in reviewing the work. It was several weeks before the job was scheduled to start. The attic was a difficult job because of the oddities of our old house. They installed baffles around air vents and blew insulation where needed. They cleaned up well and the men worked efficiently. The foam board for the crawlspace wasn't available so the crawl space job had to be delayed. They were apologetic about the lack of availability of the foam board, but they accepted payment only for the attic even though they had done the ceiling part of the crawlspace job too. They eventually returned to complete the crawl space. There were some weather delays in doing the final work. My only complaint was that they did not come a couple times when they said they would. The weather was not good, but I shouldn't have had to guess whether or not they would be there. They could access the crawlspace without me present so it didn't cause any problems in the long run.
Description of Work: Energy Tech blew insulation into the attic of my older home and removed deteriorating insulation from a crawl space and replaced it with Kraft faced fiberglass and installed thermax foam board on the exterior walls of the crawlspace.

Glen came to the house and gave a free estimate, and told me they were 2 to 3 weeks out in scheduling work at that time. After getting another estimate (the other company would only quote adding additional insulation to the attic space; they said they could not effectively blow insulation into the exterior walls or cathedral ceilings since there was already approx. 1" of fiberglass insulation in those areas). I called Glen and he scheduled the work about 2 weeks out from that date; he said the work would take 2 days. The crew arrived as scheduled and completed the work in 2 days. They were friendly, considerate, and careful. They did a good job of cleaning up afterward as well. The original estimate was for $2,450 but they reduced their price to $2,400 because there was a small area of work that was not necessary. I did not have to ask them for the reduced price.
Description of Work: Blew insulation into interior walls of house. Three exterior walls were stucco, so they did that work from the exterior of the house. Since the front of the house is brick, they drilled the interior drywall to blow insulation into those exterior walls. Also blew insulation into 14 foot high cathedral ceilings from inside of house. Also added insulation to 2 different attic spaces, as well as insulating the "drop walls" of those attics (which had interior living space on the opposite side).

Glenn came by to give me an estimate. When he got to the house he realized immediately that because our exterior is stone, his product was not appropriate for our house. He could have left it at that, but instead he walked through the house with me and showed me where we are missing insulation and where it is spotty. I learned so much from meeting with him and appreciated his time and help when he knew he wouldn't be getting our business from it. I hope he gets it from someone else from helping us!

I am just impressed. The rep came out and did a great job of assessing the situation and what could be done. (Another company came out and passed on the job, said it wasn't worth the effort.) Rep opened up a knee wall board and we actually looked at the space behind the knee wall...and could see right out the roof vents! So we definitely needed insulation. We set up a date about 2 months out. The guys came on that date well prepared. It was an ugly job. The one guy actually crawled behind the knee wall to secure all the insulation. I felt really comfortable. He had been working for this company for 16 years. Very polite, clean, and quiet guys. The rep said he didn't think the insulating would make much difference in the summertime, but already it is much more comfortable in the space. We should see plenty of heat savings this winter!
Description of Work: Installation of cellulose insulation in the 3rd floor finished attic, behind knee walls. Wall boards were removed in about 6 places so that fiberglass could be installed behind the walls and cellulose blown into the flats and floor junction.

The work was begun and completed on the scheduled day, which had some pretty nasty weather. Energy Tech sent two big trucks with about eight workers. The members of the crew were basically polite and professional. They wanted to shortcut one aspect of the insulation and asked me about it. I said I preferred that they did not and they accepted my preference. This seems to be an inherently messy job, and the exterior of the house was surrounded with bits of cellulose for a couple of weeks until it blew away. There were some larger pieces of waste (part which had been cut from the house) which were not picked up and were instead left in a flower bed. One of the large blower trucks drove on our neighbor's lawn while backing into our driveway, leaving deep ruts. We requested that this be remedied, and Glen said he would come out to look at it, which he never did. Our neighbor takes scrupulous care of her lawn and the damage unrepaired has added some tension to our relationship.
Description of Work: Cellulose insulation was blown into the attic up to R-30. Cellulose insulation was also blown into the floor of the cantilever over the porch. Additionally, fiberglass was added to the knee wall facing the hollow of the cantilever. To do this, the vinyl siding on the 2nd floor was removed and access holes were cut into the house. Cellulose was also blown into a small cantilever on the rear of the house. This required removal and reinstallation of vinyl soffits. Finally, the exterior upstairs walls were filled with blown cellulose. The vinyl siding was removed and access holes drilled to do this. We got quotes from three companies and Energy Tech's was well below all the others.

Satisfactory - Glen was tough to get ahold of sometimes. Had rain on original work date but no one called to formally cancel, they just assumed we would know. Once we were able to confirm a new date, all went according to plan. This is a very messy job (not the company's fault, nature of the work), company did the bare minimum in terms of clean up. From a pricing stand point, couldn't find anyone even close.

This is the fourth time we have asked Energy Tech to help get our house better insulated. Previously they had done great work in our basement,crawl-space, and master bedroom. This year we call them back to look at the attic. We discovered that a previous company had mis-laid insulation in the attic, and as such was not providing any benefit. Glenn and his team re-laid the existing insulation correctly, and topped it off with blown-in insulation to an R-30 specification. Two days later when the tempurature hit 95 degrees we knew we made the right choice!
