The estimate was broken into two Phases per my request. Some firms refused to do this but I was pleased that Elite was able to accommodate my request. The estimate was reasonable and timely and the owner, Robert Harmon, did it himself. The drawings were clear and made it easy to visualize the final project. I picked out cabinets and everything seemed fine. I had the contract (for Phase 1) include language specifying the time this phase would be completed. This phase included the removal of the upper cabinets, and installation of the new upper cabinets and removal of the half wall and all electricity. All of this went well and I was pleased. The second phase was a very different story. I did not have the contract include language specifying the completion date and that was a big mistake! The crew that worked on the second phase did not communicate with the supervisor and multiple mistakes were made including drilling holes for the cabinet drawer's hardware incorrectly. I had contacted the supervisor and discussed the drawer pulls and then left a note for the installer which he did not read prior to drilling the holes. This caused a delay of 1-1.5 weeks while new drawer fronts were ordered. The garbage cabinet pull out is still not correct but the supervisor said that was the best they could do...I'm learning to live with it until my son can fix it. A piece of trim is missing but I had a friend fix it. When the plumbing for the sink was done the faucet was not installed correctly and I caught it. This was fixed the following week. The disappointing final experience was aggravated further when the owner did not offer to compensate for the delay by adjusting the bill until I asked for a credit. Once the quote was done, I did not see or hear from the owner directly - my communication was all routed through the supervisor and the owner's wife. When I was signing the first contract I was assured multiple times that they would do a good job and I would be pleased. I still remain disappointed. 7/23/2012 Please note that the faucet WAS installed incorrectly - the water supply hose was wrapped around the drain pipe. My 83 year old father, a retired plumber confirmed the installation was not correct but Elite did correct it once it was pointed out to them. The soap dispenser was not even mentioned in my report. I was in communication with the Elite office through phone calls and email through out the process of this remodel. I was depending on them to install things correctly. The trash cabinet change was discussed prior to the lower cabinets being ordered and installed and the cabinet supplier's representative as well as the Elite supervisor were present. I was not informed that the smaller cabinet would create a problem at that time so I trusted that the change would be fine. I did not talk Rod into the change. I did not mention that the appliance garage was also broken during its installation (and replaced) because I was waiting for drawer fronts anyway. I am still standing by my original comments and am sad to see that the reponses below address the contractor's perception of the homeowners short-comings. I did not want to post anything until the job was completed.
Description of Work: This job included removal of old cabinets and countertop, sink, faucet, and half of a wall. The ceiling was re-surfaced and additional lighting was installed along with new upper and lower cabinets and laminate counter-tops. For an additional fee, the new kitchen sink and faucet were installed and the diswasher and ice-maker were re-connected (the plumbing was not included on the original estimate per my request).

Response from Elite Home Remodeling Inc
We made every effort to make her happy. At the beginning of phase two of the kitchen remodel Member changed the trash pull out from a 15 inch cabinet to a 12 in. cabinet on the other side of the kitchen. This is not available from the cabinet supplier so we had to order and modify a pull out system for the 12 inch cabine.t The down side to this is you have to remove the entire pull out to remove the trash can. In hind site we should not have allowed this change. As far as drilling the handles wrong on the 4 drawer fronts, the supervisor did tell the carpenter how she wanted them installed and she did leave a note but the assistant started drilling as we normally do. This was an honest mistake and not a communication issue. We ordered the drawer fronts and her kitchen was not out of commission at any point. We installed the drawer fronts as soon as they came in. The faucet was installed correctly but our carpenter installed the soap dispenser as we always do. She wanted the hose long to drop into a gallon jug of soap at the bottom of the sink. We did not know this. When she called we went right out anf put it in the way she wanted. My wife Janet was in communication with her at all times. It is unfortunate that anything happens to frustrate a customer and we do our best to do a great job. Janet runs the office and takes great pride in communication and customer service. We installed 1/2 the kitchen on the first phase and the base cabinets and the counter tops on the second. I have never done this before but wanted to help her with her needs. We give every customer our best and honest mistakes can happen but her workmanship is great and the final result is exactly as I promised. Except for the trash pull out. Rod our Kitchen supervisor let her talk him into putting it in a cabinet that should have not been. It does work but not like if it had been installed in a 15 inch cabinet as per the original plan. He was just doing his best to accomodate her wishes. I hind site he should have not let her make that change. Now we are held liable for it being a little cumbersome. She was only delayed two weeks waiting for the drawer fronts to come in and Mrs. Martin did email requesting a credit for her having to wait which we gave her. She was in full use of the kitchen and was only missing the handles on the few drawers. We gave her a credit of $300.00 dollars for this minor issue. Communication was a little harder in that she was out of town while we were working that week. * She works out of town. I feel bad she feels we let her down but don't know what else we could have done. It amazes me that she was so thrilled on the first phase of the remodel and sent no response to Angies List. But 6 months later on the second phase we did drill the drawer fronts wrong by mistake and worked the best we could while she was out of town and then she took the time to write of her dissapointment. I wish she would look at how nice her job looks. We are on 4-5 kitchens a week and the bulk of our business is referrall and word of mouth and one honest mishap gets a report on Angies List mostly negative. Robert Harmon

This little porch dream comes from memories of childhood porches and is the perfect empty nest haven for my husband and I. Tom and Dave "got it" from the start, helping to tweak design details we may have left out and built a rock solid porch that, by the way, just withstood quite the amazing hurricane like storm. (we have kind of a "cookie cutter" house, so we are quite certain that our porch is probably stronger than the whole house) Every piece of wood, including the fantastic and still sweet smelling cedar, was measured, cut and installed by them from floor to peaked ceiling. The guys also put up with my daily chats about color and design and explained everything that they were doing, and over coffee before the unbelievable heat of this summer hit they always shared their work plans for the day and what I might expect to be completed. They usually ended up doing so much more than planned and the finished product is magnificent. We suddenly have an uptick in our entertaining as friends are all coming over to hang out in this perfect space. Extra notes: 1. all tools, wood, etc. was covered and cleaned up each day. The only grass that was killed was the stuff exposed to three weeks of no rain - delivery, storage or any other work did no damage. 2. Communication is excellent via phone or e-mail. In fact, I cannot say enough about how easy it is to communicate with the Elite team. Our early meetings were with Robert Harmon, the owner, and we established immediate trust in his work and his staff. His wife Janet makes you feel like a personal friend and handled all issues with permits and homeowner's association, and of course Tom and Dave were easy to have around every single day. Our favorite story is that Dave was actually able to tame our wretched, snarly usually evil little dog in the process!
Description of Work: We had a 12 X 16 screened porch added where a previously existing deck had been. From deck demo to framing and finishing, all of the work was completed by Tom and Dave of Elite Home Remodeling.

My dealings with this company started out rather well. I found a picture in a magazine that I really liked of a bathroom vanity; however, it was going to need to be custom made as it was a floating vanity with a tile top and an espresso floating shelf below. The owner's daughter, Amber, came out to look at the project and provide an estimate. The initial estimate was around $750 (I provided the sink, faucet, tile and grout myself); however, there was some concerns that the vanity needed to be supported with legs, which increased the price by $150. I thought that it would look rather odd without putting cabinet doors on the vanity since it now was going to have to be supported with legs, which of course increased the price again. After everything was decided on and all materials were purchased, two guys from the company came out to install the sink. However, when the guys came to the house they had the vanity already put together (minus the sink and tile), but the stain was not the color that I had wanted. The stain that I had wanted was a very deep espresso brown, but the color that it was stained was a lot lighter and had hues of red in it. The construction guys called the office to find out what they should do and they were told to go ahead and install the sink and they would figure it out. After the sink was installed I followed them back to the showroom to look at stain samples; I also took the sample of the color that I had actually wanted. This is where my dealings with this company went sour. The owner, Rob Harmon, was there and I showed him the sample of the stain that I had wanted (all of our furniture is stained the same.) I informed him that I had shown this piece to Amber when she came out for the estimate and he basically called me a liar. He was unbelievable rude and arrogant towards me. The problem did not get resolved in his showroom and I walked out. Within a half-hour, Amber called me and left a message on my voice mail saying that she had spoken to her father and they would re-stain the vanity for me at an additional cost. I was furious! I emailed her that night and said that I would not agree to an additional charge for them to fix the problem and I would pay them the agreed upon amount once the job was completed to my satisfaction. An email was then sent from Rob saying that "in the 20+ years he had been in business he has never encountered a situation like this before." However, I find that a little difficult to believe given how unprofessional he was to me, and this, I believe, was a rather small problem that was easily fixable! He did agree to fix the problem at no additional charge. A new crew came out to re-paint the cabinet part of the vanity and they were very friendly and I feel as though did a very nice job. The final product looks great and I do love my new bathroom sink. However, I would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone that I know. The true colors of an individual come out when a problem or discrepancy arises and I would not want to deal with this company if a big or serious problem was to arise! ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I just wanted to address the company's comments- A) The piece that I showed him is in fact stained; the Amish spray-stained it, which makes it look like it has a painted look. Plus the magazine picture that I copied and gave to them clearly showed a deep brown (espresso) shelf. B) I was never told to go to the showroom to look at samples and it certainly didn't cross my mind that I should since I provided an exact picture of what I wanted. C) I'm not blaming anyone for the error, nor did I in my original post. I stated that the owner was rude to me when I expressed my concern about the project; but clearly, he is blaming me for the error! D) I think my point is reiterated at how unprofessional this company is based on his "BOLD TEXT" and pushing the blame off onto someone else instead of owning any faults that they may of had in this!!

I would like to post a responce to the member report. We custom built a vanity exactly what was on the contract. Maple with our expresso Stain. When we went to install she said the color was wrong. I set up a meeting in the showroom to meet her. She brought in a piece of furniture she said we were supposed to match. This piece wasn't even a stain it was a painted piece. We have only one expresso stain color and she said this was not what she wanted. She stated she had told Amber the color she wanted. Amber is my daughter who was her sales rep in this order. I called Amber to see what had happened she said Christie had never told her about any color match. She had just told her she wanted expresso stain. Which is what the contract stated and we built. The member then told me she told Rod she wanted the color match. Rod is our Production Manager who double checked the job for production. I asked him and he said she had never said anything to him either. I told the member Amber nor Rod have any recollection of any color match and both are very honest people. I can't understand how neither of them knew anything about this color match. Her piece is painted not STAINED as was ordered. We would not intentionally make something incorrect. I asked if she looked at our expresso stain sample prior to her ordering it and she said NO. She became very upset and said it was obvious she was going to get no where with us and stormed out of the showroom. I emailed her to let her know we could come out and paint the Vanity at only our labor cost and she was even more upset. I talked with my daughter and we both agreed to paint the vanity and doors at no charge to the customer in an effort to promote good will. We literally have way more in the project than we charged her. I don't know whatt more we can do to make sure our customers are happy. We have a rep come out, Our production manager re-visits every job, We do an exceptional job at building what we are supposed to. I believe this particular customer just ordered EXPRESSO WITH OUT BOTHERING TO LOOK AT OUR SAMPLES. WHEN IT WAS MADE IT WAS TOO LATE AND SHE WAS BLAMING EVERYONE HERE FOR THIS ERROR. WHEN IN FACT IT WAS HER ERROR. We charged her nothing to redo something we had no obligation to do and she is still bad mouthing us for her doing. I don't understand how some people get to this point. We did everything we could to make her happy. We do not deserve an F she gave us. I don't know any other company that would redo something for no cost when we had nothing to do with the error. It was all the customer not looking at what they ordered.

Brought Elite in for a kitchen remodel. We had several other contractor ins over a 6 month time span. It was very difficult to get a contractor to listen to our ideas. Robert listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions on areas to improve upon. The estimate came in right where we expected and the job was 100% on budget. The process for selecting cabinets, countertops, etc was painless. We are completely happy with everything that was installed and the suppliers that we worked with. The construction crew was 100% reliable and professional. They did an awesome job, could not be happier.Overall, the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. The job was pretty much on time, some delays were experienced due to the builder's inspection. I have recommended this contractor to friends and will continue to do so. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Hired Elite for a kitchen remodel. We removed a load bearing wall, opening up the wall to a wall of windows. We reused the cupboards that we could and installed a new island and wine bar. Also, installed new granite countertops and redid the kitchen lighting.

They are friendly, cordial, and helpful. They subcontracted the work they needed to, such as electrical. They showed up on time and I am very pleased with the work that they did. They were not the cheapest, but when you combine their price with their reputation and work you will get your moneys worth. They were very comparable with price with others.

The work was done in two phases. The first phase was to remove the existing cabinets and install the new cabinets, without the new doors. The doors were then built elsewhere by Amish craftsmen. There second phase was to install the doors and trim. It took about three weeks for the doors to be built. The whole project was completed in less than a month, including the three weeks to have the doors built. This was exactly what Elite had told us it would take. The workmanship and materials used are outstanding and the new cabinets and doors exactly match these installed by Elite 15 years ago! The refacing and doors installed 15 years ago still look new and have held up very very well, even under constant daily use.
Description of Work: Removed two overhead cabinets and one base cabinet with four drawers in kitchen. Replaced the overheads with two differently configured overhead cabinets and the base cabinet with a cupboard with five pull out shelves. This was done to match the other cabinets in the kitchen which Elite had refaced about 15 years ago. New solid oak doors were specially made to match existing doors, which Elite had installed along with the refacing previously.

This company does amazing work. All of their employees are very friendly and trustworthy. They were very conscientiousness in regards to keeping the mess contained and respecting my privacy. Because I had so much work done, I had someone in or at my house for a few months. They became like family! :) My home now looks like a showplace thanks to Elite! People always asked who did the work and are always impressed with the quality of Elite's workmanship.
Description of Work: They helped me plan my master bedroom suite remodel. They gutted my bathroom, put in a beautiful skylight, travertine (sp) tile in the shower and floors. New vanity, toilet and fixtures. They even made custom inset shelving above the toilet in between the 2x4's. I wanted pocket doors put in the closet and bathroom. They share the same wall. They put the doors in and rebuilt the wall and were still able to give me an outlet in that wall. They also had to do some re-wiring, because the pocket door necessitated the light switches being placed on the opposite walls. We took out the double window and replaced it with a sliding door. Then they built a walk out deck. Absolutely gorgeous! They removed the popcorn ceiling and did a knock down treatment. Repaired the walls, painted and carpeted the bedroom and closet. They also installed replacement windows for the entire house. Vinyl wrapped the trim and installed new gutters. They also gave me an estimate on remodeling my kitchen. They gave me several ideas and options.

Called Elite to get an estimate and suggestions on a full kitchen remodel. Amber was incredibly responsive from my first email, and through followups, as well as providing the estimate. She worked with my schedule to arrange a time that she could come out, get measurements, and chat with us. It was refreshing to hear about their family business and the quality of their craftsmen that work for them. She had some different options as it related to updating our cabinets, which we hadn't considered. Came back with a very fair price to update the kitchen countertops, granite, remove soffits, etc. Some of our other updating projects (roof, windows, electric service) ate into our kitchen budget, but will think of them when we get to that point again.

Robert arrived to provide an estimate on an addition that we're planning later in the year. At the time he arrived, we were having problems figuring out how to mount our TV over the fireplace. There were lots of obstacles to doing this in our 100 year old home, but Robert jumped right in and offered a creative solution. Elite built a custom wood paneling and mantle to house my TV. It matches the original wainscoting in our house, and looks absolutely amazing. It's now the focal point of the room and looks modern, yet true to the age of the house. I'm looking forward to working with them again in the future.

I found the owners very easy to work with. They walked us through all phases of the construction, setting clear expectations. They provided great guidance and suggestions, including some modifications to the plans we had drawn up which were very much appreciated. Our budget was limited so they helped us make careful selections and prioritize features to remain within our budget. The individuals who did the actual work were clearly skilled and very professional. Any concerns we had (and there weren't many) were handled promptly and responsively. We made a couple of changes once the project got underway and no problems getting them done. Overall, I was very pleased with their obvious listening to make sure they delivered what we wanted. The owner spent time with us throughout the project and did his own inspection when complete, making sure that the details were correct. We've been using our new addition for approximately two years now and have been extremely pleased.
Description of Work: Elite Home Remodeling added a first floor bedroom and bathroom to the first floor of our two story home. Part of the space was existing but part of the space was an addition. They worked with our architect, even making some great modification suggestions, worked with the county to get the plans approved, dug for and poured the foundation, built the room and did all the finish work. In addition, they moved some windows in a 2nd floor bedroom necessitated by the new build and installed smoke detectors all of the house to meed current code.

Excellent work - professional and attentive to details!
Description of Work: This is the first time I have worked with contractors and had heard my share of horror stories. Elite Remodeling is NOT a horror story at all. If you are looking for professional and quality work - look no further. I had 2 different projects completed. My original request was for a new sunroom. Robert came to meet with me and provided a quote - they came in directly on point with no hidden charges. The team that worked on my new addition was Andy and Jason - both incredibly professional and pleasant. Any issues that have come up have all been dealt with quickly and efficiently through Janet in the office. The room looks absolutely wonderful and I am extremely pleased with the work! The 2nd project I requested was adding a few cabinets and installing granite/backsplash to my kitchen. Again, Robert came out and met with me to discuss pricing and remodeling thoughts. The price did not fluctuate from the original quote. There were special orders on the cabinets, which extended the time frame and templating the granite could not be finished until those were installed. The kitchen took a little longer than I expected, but given the work I had completed, I am very pleased with the outcome! Because of the various additions, there were additional services I needed that did not fall under Elite - ie. the paver patio, additional electrical requirements. Elite provided me with names of companies they work with - and all of these professionals have been fair priced and available to complete my projects. Like everyone, there are 100 things I would like to do on my home. In particular extending the master bedroom and adding a new bathroom to the back of the house. Based on my very favorable experience, I will be contacting Elite Remodeling to work on this project without any hesitation.

We're nearly done with the sunroom and couldn't be happier with the outcome and quality of work. Elite's staff are friendly, conscientious and professional. Elite worked closely with us on the design and incorporating features we wanted. They made suggestions based on our planned use of the room. Our laundry area is complete and, again, we are very pleased with the outcome and the work performed!
Description of Work: We hired Elite to perform to jobs: Add a sunroom to the back of our home (225 sq ft, post and beam foundation, fully enclosed, insulated, etc.) and install cabinets, countertop and mud sink in our laundry room.

Our home was built in the early 60s and had not really been touched since then. We needed a major overhaul and wanted to give it a more contemporary feel. I wanted to have a space that was comfortable and open so that it would be good for entertaining or for just being together as a family. We decided to remove all interior walls and change the orientation of the kitchen. The remodel required the removal and covering of a window, matching of new wood to the existing wood floors, knock down ceiling and re-texturize, move electrical, all new cabinets, countertops, under cabinet lighting, pendant lighting, new overhead lighting, etc . The cabinets are great, lots of pull outs in the cabinets, no slam drawers, and the finish is beautiful. Regrading the window - our exterior is stucco and they did a super job of patching in the stucco so that it's not obvious that there used to be a window there. I am very happy with the results. On a side note, the people who performed the work were very nice and did a fantastic job of keeping things as clean as possible as we were still living in the house throughout the 5 week ordeal. In addition, we have a toddler and the guys were very nice to her and we felt very comfortable with them. I was apprehensive at first about having strangers in my house all day long with neither of us there, but my apprehension was unfounded. The quality of work was great.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of living room, dining room, and kitchen into one great room. Removal of walls, matching new hard wood to old, sanding, sealing entire floor, all new cabinets, counters, kitchen layout, all new electrical, etc.

See above. We would have liked to have worked with this company, but not getting back to us in over a month dispite our attempts to contact them was more than frustating. We are now persuing other companies to get the work done. Our budget is $40,000.
Description of Work: They came out to give us an estimte on finishing our basement. We talked about what we wanted and they gave some good ideas. They came back with a drawing that was nothing like we discussed. We asked them to rework the plan and we never heard from them again, dispite calling and leaving messages for them.

I found them through the Fall Home Show. It went well. Everyone from their salesperson all the way through to all of their workers were very professional and easy to talk to. Considering we had bad weather through all of that, they were still really good. The pricing was right in line. It was right in the middle. The crews that they had took a lot of pride in what they did. They did an awesome job. I would use them again. I had people in my house for over a month, but I felt very comfortable with them in there. Once my dog got released and I wasn't here. They went out literally with their vehicle chasing my dog and they found him. They were extremely conscientious cleaning up after themselves and trying not to mess up the rest of the house. They were also really great guys to talk to. They were overall a great company. I plan on using them again in the future.
Description of Work: Elite Home Remodeling replaced my windows, wrapped my trim and faucets, did my gutters, remodeled my master bathroom and bedroom, and put in a skylight.

GREAT! I would highly reccommend this company to anyone wishing to remodel their kitchen.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel, including removal and installation of new soffit, recessed and decorative lighting, refacing lower cabinets, total replacement of wall cabinets, installation of new lazy susan and pull out shelves in some lower cabinets, installation of new built in microwave and oven, installation of wall by refrigerator to create a more custom look, painting to complete the entire job with one stop shopping. I couldn't have been happier with the finished job, and the quality of work done. In addition, the owners and workers were trustworthy, nice and easy to work with. Do be sure to get everything in writing at the beginning of the project. I misread a part of contract, but they were fair with me in resolving the matter.

We went to several companies to investigate the type of sun room we would build. When we met with Robert Harmon the general contractor of Elite, he showed us a variety of rooms he could build us. He took the time to educate us about getting the most room for our money. We decided to build a wood framed room in the footprint of our existing deck. We had never worked with a contractor, and at the time we were frustrated with the process of building, and the need for a contractor to work multiple projects at a time (to not waste time while waiting for inspectors to check off completed steps). The room took from May to early August to be finally completed. We love the room. Every time we use this room we look at each other and say "I am so glad we built this."
Description of Work: Elite Home Remodeling built a sun room addition to our home.
