 + -1 moreMy overall experience with this repair service was very good and I would do business with them in the future.
Description of Work: I called Economic Appliance Service because my washer would not spin and they had an appointment for me the next day. The repairman called the next day and said he was 15 minutes away and he arrived just when he said he would. He was very friendly and informative and showed me the part that needed replacing. I told him about another problem the washer had had the year before with loud clunking when spin cycle stopped and he checked to see if that problem had returned because it could cause the part that he just replaced to weaken and break over time. It only took him about 15 minutes to do the repair and check the spin cycle. He gave me a discount on the price of the job without the coupon I had for parts because he said he couldn't be sure how long the repair would last with it being an older washer and having had difficulties already with the spin cyle. He was honest and said in his oppinion if the washer had trouble again it would be better to get a new one because it might need a new tub or transmission which would not be worth the expense.

 + -1 moreI called to schedule an appointment and it was arranged to be between 08:00 and 13:00 on that Friday. As of 14:00 that day I had not heard from anyone and no technician had shown up. At 14:10 a technician called to say he was on his way. He had us listed to be seen between 12:00 and 17:00. This was the only issue we had. Ron, the technician who arrived, was a very nice guy who seemed to enjoy his work. He quickly assesed the problem, explained what caused it, and made sure the dishwasher was working properly when he left.
Description of Work: We had an issue with water leaking slowly from the front of our dishwasher. The technician, Ron, arrived and explained to me just how simple of a problem it was and made sure that his simple recommendation resolved it.

 + -1 moreRandy called me at work and five minutes later I met him at the house to work on our washer. He discovered that broken and cracked flanges on the plastic timer housing were causing the problem. Instead of replacing the entire timer assembly($150)he used duct tape and a metal grommet to repair the housing. Randy explained everything and was good to work with. His repair works well, didn't take long and saved us money!

 + -1 moreJake called to verify that he was coming to our house within a 1/2 hour as promised. He was punctual and very polite. He looked over the inside parts of the dryer and showed me that the heating coils had burnt out. He gave me an estimate on the spot and explained what the part costs. He had the part in his car and took no time at all in replacing it. He then showed me that the dryer's door catch installed by the previous homeowner of the house was the wrong kind for this model. He showed me what kind to get and that it was easy to install. He also mentioned if I was near his workplace that they had the part I needed. Jake was very down to earth in explaining the process for everything and worked very fast.
Description of Work: Fixed the heating unit in a Whirpool dryer by replacing the coils.

 + -1 moreThe service was fine if I want them to come out every 45 days to fix my dishwasher. In addition, the serviceman said that if the fix didn't work in the next "couple of months" he would com back and look at it again for free. When I called with the problem, I was told the work only had a 30 day guaranty and it would cost another $60. It seems to me that if you do work and your workman claims a 60 day guaranty that the workman's word should be honored. I will find another company that will honor their work. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!!
Description of Work: My dishwasher was not getting dishes clean. The service man came out and cleaned out a filter and said the job was done. It worked for 45 days and went back to doing the same thing. Now they want to charge us to come out and fix what they temporarily fixed.

 + -1 moreRandy was very knowledgeable, efficient and figured out the issue right away. He also gave us added information that was very helpful.
Description of Work: The washing machine in our rental was not completing its cycle and then overflowed or leaked out at the drain. I called Economic Appliance Service on Mon. after Christmas and they came on Tues! They said they would call me 1/2 hr before arrival (so I could get over there) between noon and 5pm. Randy called before noon and I met him by 12:30pm. His experience payed off. He could tell me right away what the problem was. The cover was not always connecting to the washer, once it was put down, hence cutting off electricity. He said often the washer part that connects, breaks, as it it plastic. Despite the fact the washer was in a closet type area, he could maneuver enough to see that the part was not broken...neither was the top bent, as is sometimes the case. So he pared off part of the rubber feet on the front of the cover and Voila, the connector worked again. He also ran the washer and showed us how you can hear the connector click when it's working right. The leak he thought was from the drain. He asked if they did loads in succession and if their neighbor did a lot of wash (it was on the same wall so they could hear through it). It was "yes" to both questions and Randy was pretty sure there was a common drain between units and it was most likely the drain that backed up, rather than the washer overflowing. Enough said! He charged us only for a service call and everyone was happy! Thanks, Randy!

 + -1 moreI had called another service first and they estimated almost $700 for the repair and diagnosed a different problem. We didn't have confidence in their repairman so we looked on Angie's List and called Economic Appliance. When I made the appointment I told them we would prefer an earlier date if possible. They called in the morning the week before when they had some extra time in their schedule so I was able to get it fixed a week early. He was very friendly, careful, and clean. He quickly assessed the problem and was able to fix it the same day even though he had to run out for a part. And it cost me less than half of the estimate I got from the other company!

Description of Work: Mr. Shaffer was contracted to rewire the second floor of my older home. The work was performed about a year ago. From the beginning I suspected Mr. Shaffer was not qualified to do the work he had contracted to do. A job that he assured me would take only a few days became a 2 month ordeal. On several occasions Mr. Shaffer did not show up when he was scheduled to work. Damage was done to the side of the house, carpet, floor of the attic and most recently I found that junction boxes were left uncovered and a live wire was not removed from the attic floor. Mr. Shaffer took on a job that was too big and involved for his level of expertise. I am still paying the price.

 + -1 moreWent very well. Unfortunately we discovered our refrigerator warm on Friday night when we got home from work. I assumed it would be Monday before we could get it fixed. Saturday morning I found Economic Appliance on Angie's List and called. Much to my surprise someone answered the phone at 7:50 am. We were given a 6 hour window (which I found long) but she took down 3 phone numbers to reach us so we didn't have to be sitting here for 6 hours. The tech came about 11:00 am and diagnosed and fixed the refrigerator within an hour. It was a relief to get it fixed so quickly. I would definitely use them again!

 + -1 moreWe called Economic Appliance Service in the late afternoon on Tues because our ice maker was not making ice and was now leaking water. They indicated there would be a $59.95 service charge call and we set up an appt for the next day with a time window from 12-5. They called at 3:00 and indicated he was on his way and about 25 min away. Jake arrived and got right to work. He indicated we needed a new water valve ($65) which he could replace. He also showed us that the coating on the ice tray was coming off, which would be in our ice cubes and offered to replace the ice maker ($120). We had him go ahead and replace the ice maker, which he had on his truck. He was completely done and out in less than an hour. Jake was very friendly and efficient. We would definitely call them again.

As promised they called within the time window, and we were able to get home in time to meet the service person. They checked our oven, which wasn't turning on. They diagnosed the problem as a bad igniter. They replaced the part, which they had with them.

 + -1 moreRon called when he was just minutes away to verify directions to my home, arrived promptly, was very professional and knowledgeable. Made the diagnosis and repair in about an hour. I thought the price was reasonable considering what it would take to purchase a new or used refrigerator of similar qualify. I did panic a couple hours after he left because the unit did not seem to cool fast enough, but that was apparently due to it having been off and most food items removed from it. Once I chilled out and was patient by evening it was back to working very well and like new. This is an excellent service company for any appliance you need to have repaired. I highly recommend them. Accolades to Economic Appliance and Ron.
Description of Work: Service person Ron checked on Norge refrigerator that was not cooling effectively and discovered the heating element that is used to keep freezer frost-free had corroded and failed. He had a replacement available in his truck and promptly replaced it.
