Description of Work: Dematteo was to do the stucco work on our home. My contractor paid him $1,000 to hold his price at the start of our renovation. We didn't need the work done until the end of our renovation. After countless phone calls to get him back on the job, he performed the 1st stage, completing the scratch layer. My contractor paid him $1,150 after completing this stage. At the same time, he talked us into acid washing and re-tuck pointing our chimney (which it was in need of). He proposed $800 for this part of the job. We paid him $400 for supplies and materials on 8/25/11, was to come back the next day to do it. We have not seen him since. That was 8/25/11. After multiple attempts to reach him, he kept saying he would show up each weekend, but he has still not shown up.

+ 1 moreHe asked for half of the cost upfront so he could buy supplies. He said he would start the work a couple of days later. He didn't show up. I continued to call him and he continued to push it back week after week. After about six weeks, I decided to take action. I spoke with him again and he said he would come the following week, but again, he didn't ever come. I tried to come up with creative solutions for the problem; among other things, I offered to let him pay me back in installments if he could not return my money in full upfront. His phone has been fixed so it doesn't take my phone number, so I have not been able to reach him. At this point, no work has been done, but he has cashed my check.
Description of Work: He had done a wonderful job painting my home previously, so I hired him to do some cement work on a walkway in my front yard.
