Dave Fox Design Build Remodeling

I was overall pleased with the quality of the service. The staff was professional and responsive, and the contractors used seemed to be good. The project took longer than I would have liked (3 months), but the sales representative was clear from the start about how long the project would take. In regard to the project, I told them my goals and approxmiately how much I wanted to spend. They provided many options and gave me some design proposals within a few days. The interior decorator was excellent, and she accomodated my schedule, even scheduling evening hour appointments to select fixtures, paint colors, and tile.

It was a total remodel, including change in the floor plan and foundation. Their employees as well as subcontractors were used since it included new electric circuits, new floors, new showers, and tiles for floors and walls. All were done to a very high level of quality. When one shower was not quite what was expected, they replaced the problem area. Since different specialties were involved, there was a little difficulty in scheduling subsequent work after earlier work was done, but the 3 month job finished on schedule.

I did not choose this company to do our project. We selected another remodeler, Elite, who completed our project within budget and delivered a beautiful kitchen remodel with everything we wanted,

I am sorry to say that I probably would not hire this company again. We began our bathroom project this past May and it was not complete until November - a week ago. That's what happens when you only spend an average of a couple days per week on site, and the majority of your work is sub contracted, I guess. We had hired Dave Fox because they had completed another remodel for us the prior year, at less than half the cost of this current project. We had a very good experience with them, so allowed them to bid on a much larger and more expensive project. Unfortunately what we were sold was not what was delivered. We discovered early on that the tankless hot water heater was not to be included in this project. Their initial specs didn't include it, but frankly, there was very little detail on the original specs. In fact, once we realized the water heater was and quot;missedand quot; (in the words of our sales rep), we demanded a more thorough breakout on the project. The sales rep also and quot;missedand quot; a heater in the light over the shower, despite the fact that he was the one that had suggested it to us in the first place. We found the project manager to be fairly worthless, in that we ended up managing the project more than he had. By October, in fact, we personally called the company CEO, who then, in effect, managed the project to completion. We were surprised at the level of sub contracting on this project. We regularly saw one other and quot;realand quot; Dave Fox employee, who was sent in to clean up the shoddy work performed by the majority of sub contractors: electricians, plumbers, tile, drywall and painting - this was all sub contracted. We discovered during this process that we were one of and quot;around 60and quot; other jobs, and began to realize we were getting second or third stringers on this project. The worst disaster, by far, was the tile work. The first tile and quot;expertand quot; subcontracted by Dave Fox (I believe they were called Affordable Floors) installed tile that wasn't even straight, grout that was unevenly spread and several different colors. They were called back in at least three times to fix it, then fired outright. Another subcontractor came in, and after several more attempts, leveled the tile. In the course of installing the tile they: chipped the shower floor, which had to be repaired; scratched the cabinet doors which needed replaced; and scratched the toilet lid, which had to be replaced. It was, frankly, unbelievably frustrating for us. Especially when you consider the price we paid. The shower door was replaced three times, twice for bubbles in the glass and another time because the Dave Fox designer created a design where the door could swing in or out - but when it moved inward would hit the shower head. Really? Yes. The electric boxes were cut into the drywall in the wrong places and had to be fixed. The granite was cut improperly (not Dave Fox's fault) and had to be replaced. The drywall work was terrible, rough and uneven, and then the painting had to be touched up multiple times. The specs said they're replace the bathroom door and they did - but didn't replace the track for the recessed door so it opened improperly - and we had to complain to have that fixed as well. The shower light and fan was initially installed with a night light. But in the course of correcting numerous things, the night light disappeared and despite repeated requests we were told it couldn't be reinstalled. (At that point we just wanted them out of here.) There is more to share - but I'm tired of this whole process. Interestingly their attitude throughout was, and quot;we will make this right,and quot; and you know, they stayed until they fixed everything. But for $41 grand is this the best we should hope for with a contractor? This is how bad it was for us - the sales rep shook my hand as we handed him the final check and mouthed the words, and quot;I'm sorry.and quot; And I know he was and actually they all felt pretty bad about all of the problems we had. I agonized over what kind of grade to give them here, because I still think they do a lot of good work in Columbus. I guess I would have felt a little better had they even offered us a cost discount, particularly around the tankless water heater issue. Now, I guess I'll have to hire someone else to add that in at a later date. But right now I am too busy licking my wounds to ever consider hiring another home improvement company. This experience, in a word, sucked. What a sad state of affairs for a company that is probably pretty good on most days.

It went well. He was very professional and helpful. I chose to go with a different provider because we got a better quote than Dave Fox Design provided us. We also felt his construction timeline was too long.

They were awesome. They were very efficient and they did quality work. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

I did not move forward because I wanted a more formal quote without having to pay the $600. At the time we were comparison shopping. Paying $600 for every design quote was not feasible. We also thought the price was high for what we wanted. We chose a different contractor who provided a quote in our range. We now wish we had actually moved forward with Dave Fox. The price estimate was actually a good estimate and we probably would have had a better remodel experience.

Really well. Other than answer the door, all I had to do was the fun stuff. Picking out fixtures. Our space is so much more efficient now and it seems so much larger. Our old bathroom had mold problems, a tiny corner, low-ceiling shower stall and one sink. By taking one foot from the back of a deep closet, we gained a second sink and a larger shower with a built-in seat. We now have the proper ventilation and a bathroom I'm not ashamed of. Dave Fox's professionals did outstanding work and responded positively to every one of my requests. For a job well done, choose Dave Fox. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

They did excellent work. They did very quality work and the workers were all very professional. They did everything according to the time schedule they set up, met all the estimates and cleaned everything up the way it should have been. They were very professional and personable. They were very nice folks to work with. I think they had a female designer that came in and looked at the project as well.

The experience was excellent from beginning to end. They listened to our preferences and the designer presented us with a plan for each bathroom. She showed us several options along the way so we could decide which tile, fixtures, etc that we liked. She showed us options that all fell within our budget. We were given a detailed schedule which was followed. The workmen were all very professional and very easy to work with. I can't say enough about how smoothly everything went. I recommend them without reservation. One note about the price. Dave Fox will not be the lowest priced job but you will get very good value for your money. The work is top of the line.

They're a good company. They are really good if you want what and quot;everyoneand quot; is having done right now. We did not want that. They worked with us to get us what we wanted. Some of which was actually quite difficult to find. I commend them on that. But there were small problems as well--problems on delay of completing work, problems on paint colors, problems with the initial fit of the countertops, problems with punching a hole in a water pipe, problems with internal communications between the people planning the project and the people doing the work. All of those problems were eventually fixed. So again, I commend them on that. Like I said, they're a good company. If you want what is being featured in all the home-styles type magazines of Columbus, they will deliver this for you using quality materials. If anything goes wrong, they will fix it. It might take longer than you expected. But it will get done well.

Everyone was very professional and responsive. One factor that encouraged us to go with Dave Fox was an in house design consultant and we are delighted we did. Tonya had a great sense of design and worked both within our budget and our existing style. Our project manager Mike was highly professional, courteous and meticulous.

We had a terrific experience with this company. The project took a bit longer than expected, and the building crew working on the project changed around a bit. But each of the Dave Fox employees that worked on the project gave great attention to detail, worked cleanly, arrived on time (with one or two exceptions), and did a wonderful job. When the job ran on past the four week mark, Jon, our project manager, stepped in himself to lend and hand and bring the project to a close. From our sales rep (Keith) to Jon, each of the Dave Fox employees we encountered was professional, meticulous, and skilled. I've never had such great communication from a contractor, and we've been working our our homes now for 17 years. I plan to bring them in on a bathroom and kitchen remodel in the future. The room is beautiful and I'm so proud of their work.

The experience was a fair experience. They kind of cleaned up after themselves.

They were very good and I liked them. They were very professional. There wasn't any problem and they got the job done. Their friendliness was very good. The price was a little bit high but you get what you pay for.

It was a very good process. We learned a lot and felt like there was no question we could ask that Dave Fox professions couldn't answer for us. They were very in tune with the fact that we would be embarking on a project that would disrupt our current living space and their plan and vision for our addition took that into account. We will have no qualms at all about calling Dave Fox to do the work for us when we have our finances in line. It was evident from the questions that they asked us that they understood the process and were putting our needs as the customer at the top of the list. We had a few people tell us that Dave Fox was expensive - but we firmly believe that you get what you pay for. I'm sure we could "shop around" and find someone less expensive, but I don't think we could find anyone who will do the quality of work and meet or exceed our expectations the way Dave Fox will.

They did everything that was asked of them, and their work was done meticulously.

Dave Fox did an amazing job with our large master bathroom, going the extra mile to ensure everything was perfect. The team leaders of Wendy Sorenson, Michelle Mixter, and Jon Fichtner were amazing from start to finish. The work spanned over two months and they did everything right from start to finish. From the design concept to the work to the finishing touches, no detail was left undone. They even took on a second project in the middle of my project at my mother's house that I needed done within a few weeks with no problem at all. They are truly a special team and we'll be using them on upcoming projects.

We are very happy with the results. The Dave Fox team made the entire process painless, from picking out the materials through construction. We liked everyone on the team that worked with us. They were all very professoinal and friendly. We would use them again. Our only complaint is that they are definitely on the pricey side. However, we felt it was worth it because they really are a full service company that takes care of all the details for you.

Dave Fox Co. remodeled my bath one year ago and I was so pleased that I never considered anyone else for installing new kitchen counter tops and tile this year. My designer, Michelle, accompanied me to the stone and tile provider where I walked among huge slabs of beautiful granite. After selecting my granite, we went into a section with lots of tile - being able to put selections next to each other really helps in deciding what to order. When the granite came in, we put a counter template up to it so I could select what portion of the granite was used. As always, the installation and tile work was first class. This was not a huge remodel, but they treated me as though it was. I highly recommend the Dave Fox Co. and their wonderful employees.

They are okay. They are pretty meticulous and their workmanship is good. They are professional, friendly, and trustworthy.

The team was very friendly and very responsive - they had great suggestions for our materials and hardware, the contractors arrived when they said they would and kept us posted about what was next. They were flexible wtih our schedules, and called back quickly when we had questions or concerns. When we asked for changes, they made them right away. They finished two weeks early and right on budget. And when we found some problems later, they came back and fixed them at no extra cost (other than the cost of materials). I'd like to give them a B+ or an A-. Our only complaint was the cost. We're not in a high-income neighborhood, so this was a very expensive project. We did have to commit to a $500 fee to get the full, exact estimate, so we couldn't really shop around without spending a lot. But they were very upfront about what it would cost, so we weren't surprised. They used great materials and the bathrooms look beautiful. But it was a LOT of money. But we don't feel we were ripped off.

It turns out the person doing the work was not qualified to do the work. There were repeated incidents of things not done right and constantly having to redo them. I felt Dave Fox had a good reputation and I didn't dream that they would have someone unqualified on the job, but that's what happened.

They were fair and weren't the best. I wouldn't really use them again. They did a great job of cleaning up each day and protecting the rest of the house, but they had to come back to fix things. They changed some people in the company and didn't bother to inform me. I was just not satisfied with the way they did the whole job.

Overall, our experience was very positive. The countertop work was outsourced to Marble and Granite works (I *think* that was their name.) We had to stop them from installing a countertop with the incorrect front on it, but they were gracious about it and fixed the mistake immediately. The countertop itself is lovely. We liked the work crew from Dave Fox very much--with the exception of the painter they used. That individual did bad work that had to be redone. All else were great.
