We recently bought the house, and it was known going in that the swimming pool would either need massive repairs or to be removed. As such, the previous owner of the house got us an estimate from Colvin on removing the pool. Dan came out and took a second look once we bought the house to make sure everything was in order. We had to hire a plumber on our own to disconnect the large gas line that served the pool heater. I also wasn't sure how to pump out the pool and solicited help from Colvin, but they were worried about environmental regulations (which I appreciate) and told me they would "look into it" but never got back about the issue. I ended up renting a gasoiline powered pump from an equipment rental place and watering my lawn rather than sending it down the storm or sanitary sewer. Having been neglected for years prior, there was no trace of chlorine left so it worked out. I contacted them after completing everything and after some waiting got them to schedule the actual demolition. The demo guys came out and talked with me to go over the project and answer questions. Those guys were generally good to work with. The actual removal took about 5 days. They came out and set up the equipment, removed part of the fence, and laid down plywood to try and minimize impact to the ground. I didn't actually get to see the work in progress. We ran into a problem though. During the patio demolition, I told them I thought the patio and the foundation under the house were probably connected as the patio was installed at the same time as the house addition. They said that didn't make sense and proceeded to take a chunk out of the foundation. I didn't say it made sense, but turns out I was right. The heavy equipment ended up crushing part of the sidewalk by the garage as well. The fill dirt was mostly clay and isn't draining well now, so I think I'm going to need to do some work. They spread grass seed and straw, which has started to grow but isn't looking super healthy probably due to the aforementioned heavy clay. I called Dan and let him know about the concrete issues, and he said it would be taken care of. However, they backfilled the dirt up to the house instead of adding concrete to fix the problem. I called Dan again, he said he would come look during the day while I was gone. Didn't hear anything. I e-mailed, nothing. I called the office and asked for the principal. Out of town but I was told a message was taken and they would get back to me. Again, nothing. I received an invoice from them. I responded with a typed letter and sent it snail mail explaining that the job was not complete and they would be paid when it was. Got another invoice with "past due" stamped on it. Finally I called Dan yet again and firmly explained that this must be done. They sent out their concrete guy who did good work on pouring the section that was missing. They initially said the broken sidewalk was not their responsibility but ended up fixing it anyway. In summary, the folks at Colvin are generally good but as you can tell from the story they are about as unresponsive as they come. I think they may be busy, but the amount of times I had to contact them to make something happen was not optimal.
Description of Work: I hired Colvin to demolish and fill in the old in ground swimming pool at my house as well as the associated patio.

Recently I had a house demolished by your company, Irven the project manager / estimator and Mike the excavator operator (even the dump truck driver) were a pleasure to work with and very professional. Irven and Mike both showed exceptional skill operating the excavator. Irven and Mike both went out of their way to be sure we were satisfied with the job, we were more than satisfied. The lot was left like nothing was ever on it. I have been in the construction industry for over 30 years, last 10 years in quality assurance I can honestly say I was impressed. Colvin?s price was lower than any other company with excellent results. I will continue to conduct business with Colvin and refer your company at every opportunity.
