It turned out very well. It would have been free I did need some extra coolant added to the a/c unit that was about $60 of charge, but plus whatever I paid for the deal. Nothing bad, he was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. He explained me if I had any questions and I had couple he explained it me and everything went well. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Columbus Worthington Air big deal purchase in June. They came out and did the standard maintenance for my air conditioning unit, checked inside and making sure proper temperatures are good, adding coolant, all the connections were good and made sure the unit was in tip top condition.

Process went pretty smoothly, though it took longer than I anticipated to finish the job (4 hours). I would have liked to have been warned just how long to expect the installation to take (guess I should have asked). First the serviceman had to pump down the system and recover some of the refrigerant from the a/c system. Next, he removed bad evaporator coil and installed new one. Did a leak test after that and added lost refrigerant back to system. Serviceman was very professional and seemed quite knowledgeable about service he was providing.
Description of Work: Replace evaporator coil on furnace. The part was covered by warranty, but had to pay for labor to install.

Arrived at the agreed to time. Appeared to thoroughly check the whole A/C system, both inside and outside the house. I did wonder why he did not replace the filter as one was right near the Furnace. Did NOT try to sell me anything and explained that I should consider replacing the System in a couple of years. (System is 23 1/2 years old). The Checklist that he gave me was detailed and appeared complete.

I had noticed some leaking coming from near our newly installed A/C in our basement. They came out the next day and discovered one of the pvc pipes was overflowing due to a clog in the pipe closer to the drain. They replaced the pipe instead of just removing the clog which might have developed again later. No charge. Not sure if that was because the new system was under warranty or because we have a maintenance contract. Very satisfied with the repairman's expertise and professional manner.

It went very well. The technician was prompt, polite and professional. Also, he covered his shoes with paper slippers when he came into the house. I am not an expert of course, but he seemed to do a thorough job. He told me the voltage/Amp measurements of the main unit, as well as other details. He said that we were probably going to have to replace our main unit very soon, but that it was running fine, though we will gain a lot in efficiency when we do replace it because it is so old. As for the smaller unit, it was low on refrigerant, but he explained that this refrigerant would be discontinued next year. He could have gotten the smaller unit up and running just to get us through the summer, but it would have cost a few hundred dollars and only been good for this one season. So, we decided it was not worth it, and he was not at all pushy about it. Nor did he try to sell us a new unit. He encouraged us to call the company for a free consultation, but did not pressure us at all. Really very nice and professional and answered my questions.
Description of Work: CWA inspected two air conditioning units on my property. I had purchased a 14 or 17 point inspection for each unit when it was offered as a "Big Deal" so I paid less than half of the retail price, I think.

It went very well. This is first time we are using them. We plan to use them every year. He walks through everything that they were doing and he also gave me some guidance on something that we needed to kind of pay attention to that wasn't covered necessarily by the service call, but they went above and beyond.
Description of Work: I used Columbus Worthington Heating & A/c in April for routine maintenance checkup. They do like our annual like a/c, furnace, cleaning and servicing.

Sunday we returned home to no AC. We are very resourceful DIY'ers and decided to troubleshoot ourselves Monday night to no avail. Tuesday we broke down and called a repairman. He showed up when expected and diagnosed that we need a new blower motor module at a cost of $1131!! We figured we could find the part and install it ourselves so we simply paid for the service call. After spending a good amount of time trying to find the needed part number we soon discovered that in the HVAC world, this is not readily available. Manufacturers (Bryant in this case) will not provide it but send you to dealers. Dealers won't provide it but contact distributors. The average consumer is not allowed to contact a distributor directly. So basically you can never discover the part number you need. So we resorted to calling several places for quotes for the part to get quotes ranging from $500 to $714. We felt good about that, significantly less than $1134 and felt we could install it ourselves. But then with a little more research we began to discover that the common practice in the HVAC repair industry is to diagnose replacement of this unit when very commonly it is only one small part of the unit that goes bad...a thermal resistor. It seems the manufacturers of the units encourage replacement of the entire module and the HVAC repair industry goes along with it. In the end, I found a thermal resistor for $13.77 at a local electronics shop. It took approximately 3 minutes to pull the unit and disassemble. About 5 minutes to solder the new resistor on and then another 3 minutes to reinstall. And we have cold AC blowing again. I don't necessarily feel that Cols Worthington Air did anything that every other repair place doesn't do...it is the industry standard. But I did feel that doubling the price to install this unit (literally you only disconnect 3 wire terminals and 2 screws ...3 minutes of work) was not fair of this company. But more importantly I feel it is an absolute shame that the HVAC industry will take what we did for $13.77 and pass a cost of over $1000 to the consumer. I only wish there was a way for more consumers to know how to do these things themselves. It was really easy...my 12 year old daughter could have done it!
Description of Work: Diagnosed the issue with my air conditioning. I already knew the error code and approximate issue but not the exact issue. He quickly diagnosed where the problem was located.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. They were scheduled to come between 2 and 5, they came out after 5 which was fine because I had other plans that day so it did work out that they didn't come until later but I was surprised that they didn't call earlier to let me know that they wouldn't be there until after the designated time.
Description of Work: I used Columbus Worthington Air to check on my air conditioning unit. He just came in, went down and did the inspection of the furnace inside and then went outside and looked at the air conditioning unit on the outside.

Disappointed in that I bought the deal for the AC tuneup and was told that the couldn't schedule me for another month. I felt that was a long time to wait as the warm weather would already be here. Would have expected an appointment within a week. They had no problem scheduling an appointment to repair/install a new system. Before the appointment my heat pump gave up the ghost. I called them and had them check it. A couple thousand to repair a 15 year old system so I went with a new more energy efficient one. To their credit they credited me the purchase price of the groupon off the service contract so no money lost there. They were very professional on the installation wearing the booties when walking in the house and laying down floor covering over any area they had to carry parts. They completed the installation in a timely manner and cleaned up afterwards. All seemed good. That evening when I got home it was warm in the house. The system had a malfunction due to pressure. I called and they sent someone out that evening. Checked the system and all seemed ok. Reset the error codes and left saying to call asap if it happens again as the heat of the day was gone and system was not as stressed. An hour later same thing and I called. They offered to come out again but as it had cooled I said I would wait until the morning. They were over in the morning. Left and the same thing happened. Back in the afternoon and finally fixed the problem. The system has been running for 3 weeks now without any problems. I wish the initial installation was flawless but I was pleased with the speed and effort they put forth to correct the problem.
Description of Work: Bought the groupon but before the scheduled appointment the heat pump went. They replaced the heat pump and air handler.
