We had a service agreement with them and had to get them back since ac failed again. Previous technician told us we had a leak in coil and replacing coil would cost $2300. This technician added more freon and suggested we get estimate for new unit. We then had a sales person come and give us estimate. He did a thorough job but his estimate was high. His price was about $8500 which was about 18%higher than others. His selling point to justify higher cost was that we needed more cold air return ducts. When we chose to go with another vendor he called and again mentioned we needed more cold air returns and that no one else likely mentioned this. He did not look in each room but each room has a cold air return. He said they would add returns on 1st floor and would cut into our hardwood floors. This really made no sense; house had cold air returns in each room, we had no uneven heat/cool areas and the furnace was not roaring or struggling to cool, heat house. Our research showed this was likely just a selling ploy to justify higher costs. Their service was good though and we'd consider them again for service.
Description of Work: Added more freon and provided estimate for new furnace and ac units

On August 20, 2013 our air conditioner began running continuously without making a dent in the inside temperature. It was a very hot day and our house reached 83 degrees inside. The next morning we called Columbus Worthington Air after seeing their reviews on Angie's List. The scheduler was very pleasant and dispatched a technician for that same day. The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. The first thing he did was verify warranties so he could tell us up front what it would cost to troubleshoot and repair. We paid for the diagnosis and he determined we had a major leak due to the amount of coolant we were short. He summarized the cost to repair the leak and top off our coolant and recommended we pay for their service plan. I'm very skeptical of these up-sells but by paying for their service plan it reduced the cost of the repair by several hundred dollars. Our unit was covered by a parts warranty so the technician topped off our coolant and ordered the part with the understanding that the coolant would continue leaking until the part was replaced. A few days later the part was replaced and we only had to pay for labor. They topped off the coolant again for free. Just a few weeks later, our air conditioner failed again. Naturally, skepticism kicked in and I considered the possibility that the original problem had not been resolved and we'd leaked all of our new coolant. We called the number provided with the service plan, it was a Saturday morning, and an on-call technician arrived in short order. Since it was a weekend and he did not have access to anyone in the office to verify our account detail he had me gather our paperwork from the previous visits. He confirmed we were on the service plan as he diagnosed the issue very quickly and professionally. He had me toggle my breaker after performing some work on the outdoor unit (all previous work had been performed inside) and our air conditioner kicked on. Total time onsite was 1.5-2 hours. No charge. I don't know if the service plan was entirely responsible for there being no charge or if the company was mindful of the perception that the issue was not fixed properly the first time. I was very uneasy when the on-call technician said the latest problem was not related to the original broken part/leak, I must admit. While that is almost certainly true, it would be easy for a homeowner to get the wrong idea and call shenanigans in this situation. Once the technician explained what he found to be the cause and how it was fully covered under the service plan, he allayed any unfair suspicion I had. Excellent customer service all around.
Description of Work: Diagnosed issue with air conditioner and repaired the unit.

Working with Cols Worthington Air was a great experience from start to finish. The salesperson was clear, knowledgeable, and always available to answer questions. When we decided on the system, they scheduled the install for two days later. The entire job was done in one day, as planned. The technicians were clean, professional, on time, and polite. They took time to explain the new system, and answered all my questions. We obtained three quotes (like Angie says to do), and the Cols Worth quote was the only one presented in an organized format. The other two were very difficult to determine the final price, and compare to Cols Worth Air. I had to put all the quotes into an Excel spreadsheet to properly compare features and prices. Once I included everything, including warranty, service, extras, all three quotes were very similar, but I wouldn't have know if I hadn't organized the numbers. They also took care of many of the rebates for me - they submitted the manufacturer's rebate and they also scheduled the AEP rep. to come out during the install. They made it very easy for me! I highly recommend using this company for new installs and service.

only because the rating was high for this business did I chose to do business with this company. I'm not sure how they earned service awards. the first call went well, we scheduled a time for the service from 2-6 on a Saturday. 6:30 came and no one came. called the business and got an operator who had a service person call me and say sorry we had someone call of today, all fine and dandy if they didn't have someone to do the service could they not have called and said we need to reschedule, the service person said that the office should have called but she left at 3 instead. so I waited for 4.5 hours for no one to show up. he said he would be out the next day in the afternoon..the office called and moved it back to 6 on a Sunday..just what you want to be doing on Sunday. couldn't do the work because of the rain, they would call back and reschedule. Two days later I called the business to reschedule my service because I never received a call.. the only reason they got a D and not an F is because they finally completed the work. terrible experience

Everything went well except the person did not come to our house until 6:30pm. The window they gave us is 2pm-6pm so I have to take the whole afternoon off from work. It would be better if they can give a narrower window or give me a call 30 minutes before their arrival.

The technician was knowledgeable and inspected the A/C unit and came up with the findings of low Freon. He said that Freon may be leaking and it needs to be filled up. He pumped about 3lbs of Freon to get it back to acceptable level. He tried to identify the source of the leak but couldn't so. Overall it went well and the A/C is back to cooling again.

He did not do everything that I thought he would do after reading an item in the Dispatch re A/C inspections. The addition of the R22 was a surprise. A later Angie's List coupon included some R22 at less cost.
Description of Work: I had an Angie's List coupon for A/C tune up, cleaning and inspection. He added two pounds of R22. The cost of service (above) kept disappearing. I had an Angie's List coupon for $59 and $260 for the R22.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were wonderful. I wasn't there. It was actually at my daughter's house. She said that they were very friendly and efficient. They gave her the deal. She has had some repair work done with them and actually credited her the repair work when they replaced the system which was very nice because a lot of places don't do that. We called a friend who does plumbing and also does a little heating but didn't have time and he said that the price was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves and everything was done very well. Everything else was excellent. They were punctual and very professional.

I don't have enough knowledge on whether the condenser replacement was necessary or not.
Description of Work: Came to do an AC inspection tune up. Also wanted a "condenser to be replaced" so we did that - it was around $300 additional. Replaced the part however did not charge the unit with freon. I had to have another provider come out and charge the unit weeks later through our home warranty. The second company does not know what they could of replaced on the condenser so I am skeptical on what was done the first time and I don't know what to believe. I know that the unit is still working fine for the time being.

Well, it all started when they came out to inspect my current system. I knew my current system was getting close to the end of its life (was 23 1/2 years old). The inspector said it currently was running fine, but it will probably only last another 2 to 3 years. Because of the Company's reputation with Angie's List, I asked them to come out and give me an Estimate. When the Salesperson came out, I really liked his presentation. After looking over the various options, decided to go for the top of the line Furnance and A/C unit. The final price with all the deductions, Federal, AEP, Angie's List, etc. the price was about $1,200 (if I remember correctly) more than my budget would allow. The Salesperson asked if I was ready to sign, if the price was what my budget would allow.. I told him yes and after he talked to his manager, said it was a deal. Here is here things got a little messy. When I asked if I was getting the 20 SEER A/C unit, was told it was discontinued. The contract never spelled out any exact model for any of the units. The contract did provide spaces for them, though. I should have never signed a contract without that information. The A/C unit was now going to be a 17 SEER unit. The sales person confirmed that by E-Mail but never updated the contract. I did contact the Equipment Company Bryant and they told me in an E-Mail that the 20 SEER was still available, though some local distributors may not have them in stock. On the Day of Installation, I asked the installers to show me the documentation of the equipment that I now thought I was getting. After reviewing it, allowed them to proceed with the installation. The installers were very professional and it appears did a great job. I was very pleased with their work. This is where the next problem came in. The Salesperson told me I had various options for the Thermostat. WiFi was an option that I was interested in, but needed something tat would also be manual ( my wife is NOT computer savvy). The Salesperson said they would install one that would work both ways. Well, the WiFi option is not on the one installed. Finally, the thing that caused me to give the rating I gave, NO ONE from the company has called to see how things were going, if I had any questions or concerns, or to Thank me for my purchase. I use to sell cars and we would follow up after three days and after 30 days. For such a highly Angie's List rated company, I expected more. As far as using the company again in the future, I wish there was a MAYBE or a choice of inspection or repair. Based on my experience with them, I would say YES (but no to their Sales department).
Description of Work: Removed and Replaced my existing Central Air, Furnance and Thermostat. They were also to install a cold air return and one heat duct in the basement. The cold air return and heat duct are suppose to be installed, once I have finished replacing the dry-wall in the basement.
