He worked very hard and was very careful about not tracking in rain and dirt, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. My experience with Columbus Worthington Air was excellent and I would definitely use them again in the future. In fact, I plan to have them back in the fall.

+ -1 moreWhile it is not the easiest to get routine maintenance scheduled, they are very prompt and responsive on any emergency for heating or air conditioning. The service teams are fast, fix only what is broken. And they have been very honest. Once they had quoted me a price for a part. Then when they returned to the office, they found that it was the wrong part, and ordered the correct one. The correct one was less expensive than the original and when they came back to install, told me about the error and charged me the lower price. I would never have known if they were not honest about it.

+ -1 moreNot to my satisfaction. As I've stated above, they may or may have not acted appropriately, but in the end I had to call a second company out to fix the problem.
Description of Work: We paid for a spring tune-up sort of deal where they come and make sure your AC is in working order and presumably top off the freon. Well, the gent showed up when scheduled at our former home turned rental property. However, they told the tenant the unit is too old to be serviced and left WITHOUT servicing or adding freon or anything. Fair enough. They didn't feel comfortable servicing our older unit. However, I called the home warranty company who dispatched another local AC company who did fill up the freon and the unit has worked fine ever since. Now, there are one of two possibilities: A) Worthington Air was acting in good faith and sincerely believed the unit was too old. B) They saw an easy out and decided to move on to the next job. Either way, we ended up paying for their service call and a second one which actually rectified the problem. That said, buyer beware IF... IF you have an older AC unit which many of us do. Thx.

When I returned the call on Saturday, after a third attempt by them, they offered to come out later that day. The service tech was extremely nice considering all of my questions - first spring in this house and first check of AC. He walked me through so much and considering the age of the machine, showed me things to monitor and things to do to keep a cool summer. I ended up buying their maintenance package after such attentive service - not pressured by the tech to do so.

Registers were not calibrated..tech hit me up with a sales pitch for new equipment. When I got a second opinion, I was told these parts and repairs were not needed. I would not recommend them to friends.

+ -1 moreThis was on Memorial day, and they were out within an hour, and I was very pleased with that. When I purchased my system from them, I felt that the salesman did a little bait and switch on it, because after they gave me a price, and I got approved, the unit that I got was not the one that he told me what I was getting. It was partly my fault, because when he was filling in the form, it did not specify the unit that I would be getting, and I should have specifically put the unit in there. It was one down from the top of the line units. He told me that the reason was because the unit was not being made any more, but I called another company that said the units were still being made. I got a good deal, and the technicians were nice, it was just the salesman who made me feel misled.
Description of Work: I used Columbus Worthington Air. My son's air conditioner broke down, and I called them, and they put freon.

+ 0 moreKurt was great - very personable and timely. I purchased a general A/C tune-up, and he did just that. I told him I had recently changed my filter and showed him the old one I had just removed. He commented on how the old one looked and gave me advice on frequency of changing the filter. He flushed the condensate drain for the whole-house humidifier with vinegar, made sure the damper and humidistat were set appropriately for summer, and gave me advice on changing the humidifier filter. He checked the blower motor, compressor, and fan amp draws, cleaned the condenser coil, checked the capacitor operation, and checked the refrigerant level. He cleaned the A/C unit outside very thoroughly with my hose, also cutting back bush branches as necessary. Kurt was a really nice, helpful, knowledgeable guy, and I'd definitely use him again.

+ -1 moreThey did a nice job. The guy made a couple of suggestions that might need to be done later, but did not have to be done right now. He said it would cost around $400 more. If it does happen then he will fix it and if it doesn't then it wouldn't affect the air conditioner. I had no issues before. He said a couple of things can be fixed and working on it without any problem. He did an excellent job. He made sure he put his booties on. I went to the basement down with him. He did a good job. He told me a few things that I didn't know, so it was good. The price was pretty good. It was excellent. He was up and down three or four times and didn't do it just because he had to. Once I scheduled it, he was here on time.

+ -1 moreFelt good calling them since they had such high ratings on Angie's list. All I got was a sales pitch to buy new equipment...shouldn't waste money on repairs. Gave me an estimate to repair that I thought was out of line. Called another contractor and had the needed repair done for one half the price quoted by CWA. This has diminished my confidence in Angie's list as a reliable source for referral.

+ -1 moreThe guy was great and if it were HIS business, HE would have been fair - AND he'd have gotten the job. But when the COMPANY charges $85 just to have a guy come out (whatever happened to free estimates?), $800+ to replace a blower motor I can get from Grainger for about $150 and have installed by an HVAC guy from work? Well, that would just be sssssilly. I'm lucky temperatures at the moment are mild (if a tad chilly) and I can live with a space heater and a window a/c until I round up someone who can install a furnace blower for a FAIR price. Considering I work in Maintenance at the post office, it shouldn't take too long. $800+ for a furnace blower....? Pppppfffffftttttt! Please.

+ -1 moreThey called to let me know the technician was on his way. He came during the time slot they had given me. As I had paid in advance, I just needed to provide my receipt. I wish either someone from Angie's List or the provider had told me that I should have printed 2 copies.
Description of Work: I used an Angie's List Big Deal to get an air conditioner spring checkup. Steve cleaned the coil, checked the filter, pressures and other stuff. He said everything was in good shape.
