We are very thankful for Columbia Gas being there. They (Columbia Gas and Miller Pipeline) were very professional and our inspection technician was great at finding significant and potentially life-threatening issues with the installation of the interior gas line and the hook-up site. They made sure that issues were addressed and corrected before they would sign off on the job.
Description of Work: Ran a new line to our home, supplied us with a meter and inspected the installation of the internal gas line.

It went well. They actually found out the carbon will not fit because the furnace was high. I am in a process of getting a new furnace from them. Since we had gas, they did the job for free.

We've been using Columbia Gas of Ohio since December 2012. We haven't had them for long but so far they've been pretty fine. Their rates are reasonable and they seem to have a great customer service.
Description of Work: They came in when we bought the house, checked the furnace, put gas lines and stuff like that.

This has been a horrendous experience. They have messed with our insurance and cancelled it due to the house being too low to the ground. They weren't willing to do any type of work to get the work done correctly. They refused to do the work. They have really done a number on us. We smelled gas in the house for a period of time and they have shut us down and have refused to do the work. I had to have my grandson do the work to get it correct. He had a friend who was a licensed plumber who helped us out.
Description of Work: They moved our meter about 12' to the front of the house and were supposed to put in a flex line and then they didn't due to the insurance companies. They found a leak and shut our gas off. They have been working all down our street and they turned our gas off for a month in our house, so we had no hot water or range capabilities.

They charged me only $25 and they put in a whole new programmable furnace for free. They told me all the things to improve the heating and cooling of my house. The person who came was a very nice young man. He was not pushy at all. He took about four hours, but went over everything that needed to be done. He is going to send me a report on it. He was pleasant, efficient, and nonintrusive. They also put a new shower head in the bathroom. He called me and told me in advance that he was going to be late. He told me approximately when he would be here and he was here when he said he would. I will definitely use them again in the future if needed. I have no complaints about this company.

I had this work done in November, and this winter, has been particularly cold, and I have noticed that my house is warmer. They did the audit in October. Now, I hope that it is reflected in my bill, but I don't care because it is comfortable and for $350 and all that work, it was fabulous. They ended up blowing in 9 inches of insulation. It is a nice program. I heard about this program from a neighbor, but I also believe that it information came along with my bill as well, so I called and had the audit. The audit cost me $50 and then it was my decision to have the work done or not. The audit took 4 hours to complete. Then, since I decided to do the work, they gave me my money back. So, I think the government is involved, I'm sure there must be grants involved. I believe it is a "green" movement type of thing, but it is a very nice program. I believe this program was only through this year but that they got it extended because they had such a high response. They did the audit and then gave me a list of companies that they have developed with the state of Ohio. This is a program sponsored by the Ohio treasurer. I don't know if other states do this, but it is a really, really nice program, especially if it is an older home. My home is almost 40 years old, so I think the building codes for newer homes are higher and higher than they were in older homes. I think they were targeting the older homes to make them more efficient because they weren't as energy cautious when they built them. So, this program definitely hits a market by bringing older homes up to snuff, which helps everybody and doesn't waste energy and makes me more comfortable, plus some taxes dollars, so it actually helps me. I pay them and now they are helping me in my home. I think this program is excellent. My home actually had pretty good energy bills, but of course, it can always been improved. I have always kept my house up, replaced my windows and kept my maintenance up, so my bills were certainly not out of line, but anything can be improved. I hadn't blown in insulation for years, so I knew I could improve. The quote I received was about $1700 and what happened was they paid 40% of that, so I only had to pay 60%, so I literally wrote a check for only $900. Then, when they submitted it to the energy solution project, I got $600 back. It literally was what they told me it was. I got the work done and with the program, they literally paid 80% of it. It worked. I may ultimately save on my energy bill enough to almost pay it off this year. So, ultimately in a couple years, it would have cost me nothing. I had to call them and set-up an appointment. I did have to wait a little while because there was such a high response. I could also get referrals and get rebates back from that. It took me about a month to complete, and then I got the check almost a month later after I had completed all the papers. The audit is very extensive. I have recommended this to other friends.. They checked my furnace and made sure there wasn't any carbon monoxide. They told me the efficiency of my appliances, but of course, gas has some health concerns. They made me feel safe that everything is performing right, which that alone was worth the audit for me. I thought this was a win-win whether I did the work or not. They were professional, efficient, quick to respond; they were everything.
Description of Work: Columbia Gas Home Performance Solutions performed an efficiency test for me, where they came out and did a survey to evaluate the heat efficiency of my home, and then made recommendations. I had $1700 worth of stuff done, like sealing around my windows and what-have-you in various places and insulation blown in.With this program, they gave me rebates if I used their companies and what-have-you, that do the things that the gas company thinks is the right way to do it. I got all of those services done for about $350. It is supposed to save me $200 on my gas every year, so virtually, in a couple years, I should be able to pay it off.
