I called them and left a message initially. Tommy called me back very quickly. We discussed the details and pricing. I received a 5% discount for being an Angie's List subscriber. An appointment was made for the next day. The technician showed up on time and completed his work in about 30 minutes. I hope to not have to deal with my radon mitigation system for another decade but when I do, I will contact this company again.

They came out and drilled through the wall and they had no vacuum system at all and it was a disaster. There was dust everywhere and I was not pleased at all. Their system works though.

He was on time and professional. No complaints there.
Description of Work: We didn’t actually have them do any work. I contacted them a couple months ago I agreed to pay them $50 to come do an estimate. He said what he would do and then I eventually decided not to go with it. I didn’t think it would work and he couldn’t garauntee that it would work either. I don’t blame him, it was a difficult job.

Before moving into the house in 2005, I had had trenches dug around the outside walls of the basement with drainage pipes put in to take water to the sump pump. The other radon repair people weren't quite sure how well they could take care of the radon problem with the purposeful narrow openings all around the perimeter of the basement floor. Tommy had had experience with these systems and knew just what to do. My realtor oversaw the actual work but reported that the job was done thoroughly and professionally. A recheck of the efficiency of the repair was performed and it demonstrated that the repair was well done.

Tommy was able to schedule the equipment setup quickly -- which takes only a few minutes. He calls before he arrives. Picked up the equipment two days later and was able to instantly show me measurements from the device. Tommy emailed me within 24 hours the graph and the measured results (avg 5.5) along with information on what will need to be done to mitigate the Radon. He adjusted mitigation costs, with the passive system the builder of my house installed, and asked questions to add/remove itemized costs. My builder agrees to mitigate the system if it is over 4 but I will be recommending Tommy in the future for Radon testing and his fair mitigation pricing.

Concerned about the possibility of radon in our home, we used an AccuStar, long term, radon test device to measure the radon in our home for 130 days. It indicated a radon level of 6.8 pCi/L (picoCuries per Liter), which is above the EPA action level of 4 pCi/L. Among those with whom we discussed a solution to this problem was Tommy Hay, the owner of CleanAir Radon Solutions and a licensed radon measurement & mitigation specialist. When he came to our house to assess the situation, we were very impressed with him. He displayed an extensive knowledge of the problem, and he took the time to explain, in detail, what a solution would entail. Equally important, he listened to our concerns and requirements. At the end of the discussion, he understood what we wanted, and we understood what would be done and why. We were also encouraged by the fact that Mr. Hay was not only the one who submitted the proposal, he was also the one who would do the work, which meant that there was less chance of confusion or misunderstanding. Mr. Hay and his assistant arrived on time; the work proceeded smoothly and efficiently, and was done on time. After the radon mitigation system was installed, Mr. Hay left his radon test device in our home for more than 48 hours, after which it indicated a radon level of 0.3 pCi/L. We double checked with another AccuStar long term device which, after 99 days, indicated a radon level of less than 0.4 pCi/L. We are completely satisfied with the fine work of Mr. Hay and CleanAir Radon Solutions and confidentially recommend the company.

Tommy was great. He arrived on time and got straight to work. Very shortly after he arrive there was a power outage in the neighborhood preventing him from continuing. He made arrangements for the next day and finished the install. He explained everything very well and did a great job.

Tommy installed a radon mitigation system. He inserted a stack through a hole made in the concrete floor of the basement. This goes up the wall and through a side rafter to the outside oh the house, where it meets an exhaust fan which connects to another stack that rises above the house. He also sealed the sump well with a lid that has a port to access the pump. He did an excellent job. He is miticulous about his work and clearly explained everything to me. He said if we didn't get the required results, he would come back until we did. That wasn't necessary as things worked the first time. His price was so good that I didn't bother to get other estimates. This is his company and he does the work.

Tommy (owner, operator) was quick to respond when I contacted him. He installed a Radon system in my home, and he did it quickly. His price was definitely the cheapest. The closest quote to his was $600 more that him. The other companies asked that I clean out the crawl spaces, but Tommy did that himself. He gave me a warranty and a guarantee. His system got my Radon rating where it needed to be. The work looks good and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience.

It went very well. I don't have the post-installation test results back. I certainly hope and expect a reduction of radon levels from the pre-installation level of 16 pci/l. How much of a reduction is not directly related to the quality of the installation. Mr. Hay is licensed to do this work, and I'd read enough about the process ahead of time to see that he did all the standard and accepted steps required to deploy ASD in our home. He and his assistant worked quickly and efficiently, and they cleaned up afterwards. I'd recommend Mr. Hay to anyone who cares about this problem. My radon level before mitigation was four times the EPA-recommended max level. If you think this is some health risk craze from the '80s like the Alar Apple Scare, go read up. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer overall, and if you smoke you are at a much higher risk living in an environment with elevated radon levels. Elevated radon levels are common in the soils all over Ohio.

CleanAir was awesome! After contacting several companies, CleanAir returned our call right away. The owner (Tommy) met with us and took the time to explain what radon was about and the process of mitigation. He was extremely thorough and professional. He preformed a 48 hr. monitoring test and reviewed the results with us and then made recommendations. We used CleanAir to install the mitgation system. It was the owner himself (Tommy), who was the licensed professional, and he was the one who installed our system. He was always on time, professional and very knowledgable. We would highly recommend CleanAir Radon Solutions to anyone thinking about testing or installing a radon system.

I really like that he put the system in a spot that had a tree in front so the system was not so obvious. Did a great job and took the time to care about how it looked on the house.
Description of Work: They came and tested my house and installed a system. Tommy the owner did a great job. Radon test came back at a level 26 and he was able to get it down to a 1.0. Very happy with all the work they did.

I first called to have them come out and test my home to see if the radon levels were high. CleanAir was able to come out and set the monitor within 1 day of my request. The monior was left in my home for 48 hours. After the 48 hours was up, CleanAir came and picked up the monitor and called me with the results later that day. High levels were found in my home so we decided to have a mitigation system put in. A few days later the system was installed and a monitor was left to see if the levels had been reduced. 48 hours later the monitor was picked up. CleanAir called and emailed us later that day to let us know that the radon level was dramatically lower and within the acceptable range according to the EPA standard. Overall my experience with CleanAir and Tommy(the owner) was great. Radon can be a confusing subject for most and I feel like they really took the time to give me an education and to walk me step by step through the whole process. The quality and price were excellent. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: A radon test was performed with a monitor that was placed in our home for 48 hours. High levels of radon were found. We decided to have a radon mitigation system installed. After that a monitor was left in our home for another 48 hours to see if the levels had been reduced.
