After 5 estimates, I chose Swiss Air, who happened to be my last estimate. Prices between estimates all ranged between $5000 and $7500. The salesman was informative and low key, but by the time we met I already knew much of what he told me from my own reasearch and the other salesmen before him, and he recognized this, so he didn't waste our time repeating. I was most impressed by the guarantees Swiss Air offered, and the fact they have their own employees do the work. We met on a Wednesday, and the work was scheduled for the following Wednesday. The crew arrived a little early, were courteous, neat, and by 2:00 pm my entire system was up and running. I've only had it going for a few days, but it's quiet and cool so far. They also reistered my warranty for me. I am very pleased and would recommend Swiss Air to anyone in need of HVAC.

Update: As per the response below, Swiss Air performed a diagnostic on our unit free of charge, worked with the manufacturer to warrant the bad part, and Swiss Air has since performed the replacement. We are definitely pleased that we are not on the market for a new unit so soon after purchasing this one. We appreciate the time and attention Swiss Air has given to our individual situation with our unit and are hopeful that this new coil will not give us the same problem. We purchased a new TempStar air conditioner from Swiss Air in 2005. Within 2 years, a part went bad on the unit and required replacement. Luckily, it was under warranty and was replaced by Swiss Air with no problem. A couple years later, the same part went bad again and was replaced. Again, under warranty. Again, by Swiss Air. Unfortunately, for us, it's been another couple years, and it looks as though the part is again bad. We are no longer under warranty. It looks like it will be costing us approximately $600 just for Swiss Air to find out if that part is bad. Again. And, if after we spend that $600 with Swiss Air and that part is yet again found to be bad, we will then need to give Swiss Air another $1200 on top of the $600 to replace the bad part - No guarantee from Swiss Air on that new part (as there was no guarantee on the previous replacement parts. I was hoping something could be done since there appears to be a chronic problem with the unit that Swiss Air sold and installed in our home. Considering the history of our air conditioner, It is clear that we never did receive a good product from Swiss Air. After speaking with a technician, there is nothing that Swiss Air can do except come out and collect ~$600 to see if the part is bad and then collect another ~$1200 when it is found to be bad. That's all that Swiss Air can do per my conversation with one of Swiss Air's technicians, Mike. This is very unfortunate for us. We will neither be working with Swiss Air nor recommending Swiss Air to anyone. It appears that (1) Swiss Air has sold us a bad product or (2) Swiss Air has failed to install our unit and/or the part correctly. Note: The rating for price on my review is due to the fact that we never did receive a good product from Swiss Air and the only recommendation to us is/was to put more good money to the bad unit that Swiss Air supplied and installed. Even if the price was reasonable at the time, we never did receive a good product from Swiss Air. For a unit that is supposed to last at least 10 yrs, we didn't even get 2 without it going bad.

Swiss Air has contacted the homeowner and dispatched a service technician to the home to verify the problem at no charge. The manufacturer has agreed to warrant the evaporator coil and Swiss Heat & Air will cover the labor for the repair. Although, leaking evaporator coils are a industy wide problem since swithing to R410A (higher pressures), this homowner has experienced more than anyone should expect. The new coils are built to resolve this problem. Swiss Heating & Air will measure and record the air quality of the home per the manufacturer suggestion as an added precaution to ensure some type of chemical reaction is not causing the problem. We anticpate having this resolved within 7-10 days. Mike Kimmet (Owner).

Swiss Air is wonderful & we could not be happier with the service, and the value of our monthly membership.
Description of Work: Fabulous!! Our A/C quit working, and Swiss Air was at our house within 12 hours of our phone call. We are members of their monthly service program, and were absolutely delighted with the speed of service, professionalism and expertise of the technician, and the service covered by our monthly membership. We did not pay anything to have the A/C fixed (an approximately $200 repair job) and he checked our furnace, vents & ducts while he was here. Wonderful!!

All I can say is WOW! From the 7 estimates we got, this company stood out. We horsed around with estimates for a year, and when we came back to Swiss Air a few months after the estimate, even after the price of the system went up, they still honored that estimate, PLUS gave us an extra 2 years of maintenance service (instead of just three)! Which is anywhere from $70 - $100 savings TWICE per year! Company gave us a good sell pitch, and even when they came back, same gentleman came, and they honored the original estimate. What really spoke to us was the quality of the equipment, and SERVICE AFTER THE SALE! We purchased this 6 months same as cash back in May 2011 when it was installed, and I waited to submit this report so I can tell you how it went, even a few months after. We've had TWO free service appointments since then, and the guys are great, and NO TROUBLE with the system at all! (The brand name of the unit was Tempstar) We have a 2100 sq ft home, plus the basement, and our system was 30+ years old. We've noticed (along with the new windows we installed the year before) that our electric usage is reduced significantly, about 25 - 30% than we were using. The sales rep kept us up to date and checked on everything before, during and also after the sale. I've recommended these folks to others too. I love our new system, it is SO QUIET! INSTALLED: New digital thermostat keypad / programmer, new air handler, heat pump/AC unit, hauled away other GIANT piece of old hunk of junk, and placed the new unit exactly where we wanted it moved. Inspected our April Air humidification system, and inspected our HEPA filtration system (both of which did not need to be replaced, they were in great shape, and they did NOT try to sell me on those, said we didn't need it). Honesty goes a LONG way with us! They left the area looking good, and hauled away the old junk. I was VERY pleased with our purchase, and so glad the service AFTER the sale is holding up to their reputation. They were NOT the absolute cheapest, and they were NOT the most expensive of the 7 estimates, but the honesty, service after the sale reputation, guarantee's of installation/equipment, and pride in doing a good job is why I won't ever use anyone else again. If you are wondering, out of 7 estimates, they were "almost" the least expensive too, not quite, but their price was very very competitive.
Description of Work: Replaced a thermostat, Heat Pump, air handler & AC unit, removed old dinosaur of a system, AND inspected humidification and HEPA filter units (that were present and didn't need to be replaced).

We love this company. They are always on time, neat, clean and thorough. They do a great job and give us a concise report about the status of our furnace. One of the reasons we switched to this company from a competitor is because they have 2 hour time windows for scheduling. Additionally, if you schedule far enough in advance, it is easy to request first call in the morning (around 8 a.m.). There is nothing worse than taking a 1/2 day of vacation to wait for a service provider - worse to wait during the time slot and then have them be late. This company, since we have used them, is always on time. I've never had to use vacation. Their prices are also slightly lower than the competitor we were using. I feel like they are very fair and honest and they don't ever try to sell me a new furnace. Ours is 12 years old and not very efficient. I'd love to have them tell my husband it's at the end of its useful life so we can get something more energy efficient, but they always say it looks great! I'd highly recommend this company. Everyone is professional from the phone operators to the service techs.

They had 2 guys come in and they did a wonderful job. I gave each a tip. Then they told me that my cold air return was painted shut and they said they would send someone the next day. He took a saws-all to my cold air duct. There were 2 gaps and he said I should take some spackle and repair it myself. I had already spent a lot on this project and suggested that he should spackle. He came back the next day and finished. I had my daughter put a furnace filter in and it was due for another furnace filter and the filter was gone. I called Swiss Air and he told me the type of filter it needed. I couldn't find it so I put a temporary and cleaned Note left by Swiss Air that instructed me to replace filter and clean air duct. They suggested using Fresh Air Corps and even though they came highly recommended the receptionist was very rude and was laughing at me. I call back to speak with the owner. The owner hung up on me and said "we don't need your business". The project is left unfinished. I still want to hire Fresh Air Corps but I am hesistant since they refused me.

Our furnace would not start Saturday morning, I called Swiss Air and described the problem. They did mention the cost of weekend service was $129.00 to come over to the house a diagnose the problem. I accepted the charge. Around 30 minutes later a technician called me and said he was just starting a job in Lancastor, OH and would be on his way to our home in about an hour. We received a call again when he was about 15 minutes away from our home. He arrived and put shoe covers on and then I showed him the furnace. He performed the tasks stated above and went over what he had found wrong with the unit. He was very through and showed us exactly what was wrong with the furnace. He also said that he could not tell how long the furnace would provide heat since it was so old. He did tell us what parts would need to be replaced if we kept it, but mentioned the parts and labor would cost the same as buying a new furnace. The technician checked for carbon monoxide and stayed around long enough to see that everything was working before he left for another call.
Description of Work: The technician diagnosed the problem, repaired loose wiring, cleaned the ignition, checked the pull/amps of the blower motor, checked the condition of the heat exchanger on the gas furnace, replaced a fuse and got the unit running again. He did mention the unit was over 24 years of age and needed to be replaced as soon as possible. The heat exchanger was rusting out and the blower motor was running hot which was do to age.

It is a 95% effiencent furnace so I will receive a tax rebate. I received one other estimate and Swiss Air was $900-$1100 less than that estimate. They said it would take 3-4 hours to install and they were exact with that quote. They were timely, put down a runner down from the door to the basement so they wouldn't track anything in, very clean and efficient in their work.

Our old furnace went out in the dead of winter (of course) but Swiss Air was able to come out within 24 hours and installed our Carrier furnace and central A/C on 1/7/05. They did an excellent job! Since it was too cold, they came back in the spring to set up and test the A/C. We signed up for their Gold Membership Prime Service for only $19.95/mo which pays for itself since it includes 2 free annual cleanings/inspections, A/C in the spring, furnace in the fall, and repairs as needed. They send out reminder letters so I don't forget to schedule the checkups. Bill and Mike are great, very professional and thorough, courteous and friendly. Super guys. And the office staff are very nice and helpful in scheduling or re-scheduling. The few occasions when we had to call, they came the same day and repaired for no charge. I have been extremely pleased with Swiss Air and highly recommend them!

Swiss Air came in late in the day and examined our heating and cooling system. The Swiss Air repairman pulled apart the blower and furnace. I remember watching him do it and saw what looked like strips of fabric flutter to the floor. He put a camera inside and showed me that our furnace heat exchanger had holes in it and told us that we might be breathing in carbon monoxide. He also showed the inside of the AC evaporator coil and showed the the metal was starting to separate! I asked him to have their sales person contact me on a new system which he did later that day. My only real complaint is later when we were interviewing potential HVAC contractors for the job, one of them noted that the fabric pieces that I had seen fluttering around had somehow made it on to the igniter, and had we actually turned on the furnace we would have set that on fire! Not cool.
Description of Work: We were having an issue with our AC leaving water on the floor of the basement. Swiss Air, who we've used before, came out to examine the furnace/ac unit. In the end, they determined that we needed a new HVAC system.

Perfect experience from start to finish. About two weeks ago, a Swiss Air service tech (Mike) diagnosed leaky inside coils which would have been around $1,700 to replace. I saw the coils myself. They were ugly and it was obvious they were leaking refrigerant. Because the furnace was 16 years old and the air conditioner 11 years old, I elected to have both replaced with a TempStar 18 SEER (due to the hot summers we've been having for the last few years) 3-ton two-stage air conditioner and a two-stage 95% efficiency 60,000 BTU furnace. Salesman (John) was a straight-up player. The job was scheduled for August 3. The installers (Matt and Nate) showed up at 9:00 AM and were finished (including clean-up) at 1:30 PM. Their knowledge and experience in their trade was obvious and they were pleasant to have around. One of the cleanest install jobs I've seen. As of this writing (one day later), the air conditioner has performed admirably. 50-degree air (or less) coming out of the vents; superior dehumidifying. I seriously looked at Swiss Air because my neighbor has a service agreement with them and has been very pleased. The equipment guarantees and free 5-year service agreement on my installation are top-notch.

The Swiss Air repair guy showed me the problem before and after he did a cleaning. The air conditioner became more efficient immediately after the part was cleaned. We felt the price was reasonable and the service was efficient and solved the problem on the first try.
Description of Work: Furnace had water collected around bottom and air conditioner was not cooling house. Swiss Air, who had installed the furnace a few years earlier, came out promptly and quickly assessed the problem. I don't know the name of the part, but it was almost completely clogged with "dirt" and was cause of the water on the floor around the furnace.

I cannot believe they took our money but did not give us any resolution. Swiss Air sent out a tech on May 13th to troubleshoot our air conditioning problem. He thought the problem was fixed, but within 10-14 days we were calling back. The compressor was running full time, but no cool air came out. There was no follow up phone call on your behalf to see if our problem was resolved. After we called you again, you sent another tech out to the house who looked at the A-coil that your company put in about 1 or 1-1/2 years ago. When your tech looked at it, he wanted to know, "Who did this install!!!!!!" With that, I thought, WOW, the first tech did not even address the real problem, which was an improperly installed A-coil. The second tech indicated the problem was the A-coil, and we questioned if that would still be under warranty. He said he would have to talk to his manager about this situation since the A-coil went bad due to poor installation by a Swiss Air technician. The tech said he would have the office call us back. In fact, everyone we talked to said, "We'll have them call you back...I'll have the tech call you back...", but no one EVER called us. All calls were made by me, attempting to get some sort of communication between Swiss Air and myself. When I got through to the office, I was told the manager was the only one who could make the decision about replacing the A-coil under warranty, and he was out of the office that day, which was a Friday. That meant he would not be back in the office until Monday, and we were going to be without proper air conditioning Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for sure, if not longer. If an A-coil has to be ordered, who knows how long it will be until the air conditioner if fixed. This is NOT acceptable customer service!!! From the lack of phone calls or communication with me, to the manager being unavailable and the only person to make a critical decision so our unit can be fixed, Swiss Air has really "dropped the ball". And it appears that the problem we are having is due to an improperly installed A-coil put in by a Swiss Air technician in the first place. We are VERY disappointed and frustrated that no one seems to find our 3 week air conditioning problem an urgent concern. Surprise me......have someone from Swiss Air actually contact ME, and tell me where I am wrong!
Description of Work: Friday, May 13, 2011 - After a phone call for air conditioning service, a Swiss Air tech came to the house and added freon to the unit and did a dye test. He thought the problem was resolved, and we paid the appropriate service fee at the time of service. Thursday, June 2, 2011 - After several calls by me to Swiss Air that the air conditioning was still not working, a second technician came to the house and evaluated the unit. He did no actual servicing of the unit, just an evaluation of the problem, which he indicated was an improperly installed A-coil. (See narrative below for details.) The tech said he would call us back the next day on Friday after talking with his manager. Friday, June 3, 2011 - No phone call back from the Swiss Air technician by Friday afternoon, so I called Swiss Air myself, and was told the manager was out for the day and would not be back until next week.

We contacted Swiss Air to inspect/repair our system. Our initial service call was Monday between 10-12. The technician didn't come until 12:20 and I had already left for work. Swiss Air rescheduled for the next day for 9:00 a.m. and Joe arrived promptly. Joe was very friendly and efficient. He diagnosed the problem quickly and made the repair in about 10 minutes. Swiss Air offers a service agreement with discounts and priority scheduling for members. I did sign up for the agreement for both of my units, figuring that the money I invested over the one year's time was equal or less than the money I have paid for annual repairs to one of my two units. I highly recommend Swiss Air.

We are members of the Swiss Air Priority Club Service. As a part of the yearly contract price (<$300) they come out twice a year for regular system checks and maintenance. The service plan also covers replacement of most components should something fail. This recent call was due to our system not working when it got cold again in April. Nothing would work. They came out on a Sunday, calling ahead to make sure we knew when to expect them. Swiss Air technicians are always professional and punctual. Once here they fully diagnosed our system and found that there wasblown fuse dur to a short in the thermostat wire. The technician spent another half hour looking for the exact location of our short. He said his goal was to do whatever he could do to fix it without requiring us to pay extra for a new wire. The wire replacement isn't part of the service contract since it's an item that came with our house and not something they installed with our replacement back in 2005. He checked every inch of the wire that wasn't buried in a wall. Once he was satisfied it wouldn't happen again, he showed me how to replace the fuse and left spares in case it happened again. Wow! Since then the system has been perfect. I have recommended Swiss Air to everyone ever since they installed our new unit back in 2005. Their latest service call only solidified my opinion that this company is serious about taking care of the customer.
