We were looking for a company to do our floors. Home Depot was the best option for us based on need and cost. The concierge came in and looked at what we were looking to do. Once we agreed on to have the job done we waiting for the company CFI Installation. We were told that they would call the day before to let us know the time frame they would arrive. No phone call the day before but a call telling us they were 15 minutes away. It was a two day project. After the first day, the installers left (duct) tape on our walls (which were just painted two weeks prior) along with some nails, staples. In other words they did not properly clean up. After the second day the project was finished they did not put in the toe guard on one side of the cabinets to match the other (as in job order) and they left the glue from the laminate flooring all over our baseboard trim. So we had to clean up after that. WE did let them know and they did come back to fix some issues. We will not use either again.
Description of Work: Carpet in the living room and new laminate flooring in Dinning room, Hallway and Kitchen.

Never use CFI through Home Depot! 600sqft tear out of carpet and tile, sent one, that's right, one barely lingual worker. Carpet out fine. Tile took longer, then he started scraping adhesive from subfloor. Multiple calls to his superviser, he (a large tattooed biker looking guy) appears without warning. Notices we have two sheets of subflooring, tells partner (Not a party to our contract, or on my mortgage) we need to tear out top layer of subfloor, sign this. I come home find they want $1,100 for that. I said no. They came in the next day with a larger person in tow to intimidate. Sent them away, disputing the charges. Two weeks later not even the first call from Home Depot.

First, CFI is Home Depot's installer, but you do not learn that until after you have paid a deposit. That, in itself, is a big problem with Home Depot. If I had known the installer was CFI ahead of time, based on the previous Angie's Lists reviews, I would not have wasted my time. Further, I believe Angie's List should cross-reference this review under Home Depot, as I do not think any consumer can directly contract with CFI. My story: While browsing storm doors at Home Depot, I discussed with the salesperson some of the challenges with installation of a storm door for the front door of my 100-year-old house. He assured me that had an excellent installer, so I paid $30.00 for the installer to come out and take a look at the door, which would be the down payment on the final install. The order said this may need to be "custom labor." I received a call from CFI the next day and scheduled the installer the first available day, which was Tuesday, August 28. I was given the window of between noon and 4 p.m for the installer to arrive. On Tuesday, August 28, I took time off from work to meet with the installer. The installer never arrived nor called. Around 3 p.m., I called CFI, who informed me that the installer had already been at my house. The person I spoke with was not what I would consider professional on the phone, and when I asked her what time the installer had arrived, she put me on hold and did not return to the phone. I was also informed that the installer had called me, but I was then read back the wrong phone number. Thus, although CFI had two good numbers for me, they decided to call a number that was not mine. The rest of the story is almost too tedious to relate and is quite predictable. I called Home Depot management about the no-show; management was to call me back, but didn't. So I went to the store that evening and spoke with management, who informed me that although I was given an appointment, I was, in fact, not needed. He explained that the installer had been to my house in the morning and had taken pictures of my storm door. I asked for and received a refund of my $30.00, but neither CFI nor Home Depot can give me back my wasted time. In addition to the wait for the installer, I have lost two weeks in finding a reliable installer and in ordering the correct sized door. I guess I should add that the measurement CFI provided, 32", is exactly the same size as the ill-fitting door currently on my house. The word "custom" is apparently meaningless to them My conclusion is that CFI is unreliable, unprofessional, and a terrific waste of time.

Never again. 1. Two guys showed up, and one seemed like it was his first day. The main installer was explaining things he was doing the entire time, giving him basic instructions of why he did this or that. So my home was used as a training ground for CFI. 2. I noticed the main installer trimming the pad, however he flipped it over onto itself, sliced it with a razor directly through the pad below. I paid for an upgraded pad with a barrier to prevent spills from penetrating. I mentioned that this was ruining that barrier, which upset the installer. He stood up and aggressively confronted me, standing directly in my face, and threatened to walk off the job. 3. I have stairs that had pad that wrapped all the way down the front of the face of each tread. I noticed the installers cut single pieces of carpet so that it didn't cover the front edge of each stair. I told the installer about it, and he disputed it. I explained that I had personally ripped out the carpet and pad myself, so I know what I'm talking about. It was one continuous piece of pad running the length of my stairs. He again said he'd be more than happy to walk off the job with a pile of uninstalled carpet and pad sitting in my home. 4. I called Home Depot and CFI contacted me. They offered to fix the pad, but I'd have to provide the pad. I explained that I had none, since their guys took the last pieces with them. 5. They agreed to come look, and we scheduled a day/time. The day of the appointment, the guy called me in the morning to explain he was on the way. I explained that he had mistaken the appointment time. We had scheduled the afternoon, and I was already on my way to work. I asked them to honor the original appointment time, and he said they'd have to call back to reschedule. 6. After hearing nothing, I called back and left a message for the owner to contact me. That's the last I heard from them. Under no circumstances would I ever buy carpet again from Home Depot. More importantly, I would not allow someone from CFI to install carpet for me. They were threatening and made me feel unsafe in my own home. They didn't follow through repeatedly. They were the definition of unprofessional, from installer to office worker, beginning to end. IF YOU INTEND ON BUYING CARPET FROM HOME DEPOT, I WOULD MAKE CERTAIN THAT CFI IS NOT TRUSTED TO INSTALL IT!!!!!
Description of Work: I bought carpet from Home Depot, and they outsource the installation to CFI.

The only good thing I can say is the 2 smokers - Shane and Adam - were on time (730A). They both reeked of cigarette smoke that lingered for hours in my home and in my new carpeting they installed. And they left butts in my yard and in my driveway. The job they did is just okay. I understand a small seam at each doorway existing rooms into hallway. What my husband and I do not understand are the two pieces of carpet they pieced/seamed together directly in the middle of the hallway right at the top of the stairwell. This seam is SO obvious it's the FIRST thing we see every time we walk upstairs. The hallway is not at all big. Installers never bothered to ask us what we would have preferred they do in laying out the hallway. At job's end, neither Shane nor Adam said anything to me or my husband that they were finished, let's do a walkthrough to see what we thought of the job they did, let's sign off on their tablet so we can close this job, never said thank you for the work, thanks for letting us do this job for you, never said they were finished and were leaving - NEVER SAID ANYTHING, JUST DROVE OFF. I knew they needed a signature to close the job, neither one came back into the house to get my signature. I waited and waited, finally went outside and found they had driven away. I've made 2 calls to one gentleman at CFI to discuss what happened, he said he'd check into why they left without my signature. He's yet to get back with me. Today, 5 days later a woman phoned me to ask how the job went, I told her what happened, she put me in touch with Shane & Adam's Mgr Rashan who knew nothing about any of this. Never apologized instead sang praises of these two guys. I told him about the stick of cigarettes as well in my home lingering for hours later. He basically said nothing, never apologized about anything. My bottom line with Rashan and any of you who read this, DO NOT DO BUSNIESS with CFI Installers ever. This is a company that Home Depot uses for (at least) carpet installs. I told Rashan I was not happy, nor will never have anyone from CFI do any work for me ever again. I will never recommend this company to anyone either.
