I scheduled a service call for refrigerator repair this morning. The company was supposed to call me 30 minutes in advance. I did not receive a call and no one came to provide service. I called the company and left a message on their voice mail but they haven't returned my call yet.

This person Wally came to my home to look at the freezer and I was told that he will call me and that it would cost $250 to do the repair. I never received a follow up call until several days later. I was waiting for him to call me with the details when he was done as to what was causing the problem and what was needed to do the repair. when he did decide to call me back, not only was he very unprofessional when he called, but he didn't give me any details about the problem. All he said to me was that he called for a part and that the part came in today. Well, it would have been nice for him to communicate that with me the day he came to my home or even 24 hours later. As a customer I am left in the dark as to what you are doing and for you to call me several days later is completely unacceptable. Maybe it works for others but not for me. All he kept telling me was that I can "feel free to call someone else to do the job". He obviously didn't need my business or didn't care about the reputation of this company that he works for. The fact that it's a family owned company says a lot. If you are a true professional, when you call a customer, you not only give your name but the company you represent. He did not do that. HE sounded like a miserable human being and he also sounded as though he does not enjoy what he does for a living. so if that is the case, he needs to retire! I give this company an "F" on every level and they really need to train this employee on how to deal with customers if he is going to continue to work because he clearly has no clue on what customer service means or just doesn't care because he works for a family member. I will be using a PROFESSIONAL SERVICE to resolve my freezer issue. But the icing on the cake was when he hung up on me!

I called them in the morning. They were able to send a repairman, John that afternoon. He diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and scheduled next day service within 30 mins. He arrived today as expected, installed the part in about 15 mins. John was professional, polite and clearly explained the repair.

I called the provider on the Tuesday before my scheduled appointment on 7/18/15. I was told I would have a tech out between 9-12 with a 30 minute arrival call to fix my gas dryer. No one ever showed. I called with no answer and left a detailed message that no one showed and no one ever called me back to apologize or set the appointment up for another day.

I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Central Ohio Appliance Repair. My dryer would not hear and I suspected the igniter needed to be replaced. I called in the morning and had a technician out the same day. He had to leave to go to the warehouse for the part and came back an hour later to complete the job. He was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The cost for the service was better than any other over-the-phone estimate I received. I will definitely use them again. I give them an A++.

I called on Monday and requested an appointment to repair my freezer on Friday afternoon, as I would off from work that afternoon. The repair person called and wanted to come Thursday afternoon and I reiterated that I needed the service on Friday, as that is when I would be home. He indicated that Friday would not be a problem. Late Friday afternoon, I called to find out why no one had arrived. The owner became angry and insisted that we had scheduled the repair for Thursday. He offered a free call, but only if he could come on Monday. I explained that I will be at work Monday and cannot take time off from work again for the repair. When I tried to negotiate a weekend date, he became more angry. He said that he knows that I asked for Thursday and that he does not make mistakes. I stated that I would be filing a report with Angie's List and he said, "Good. There are a lot of crazy people like you out there filing reports with Angie's List." Then he hung up on me.

Same tech as had in January 2013 when our fridge died. This time news was better- it was fixable and at a better price than a new dryer. Ordered the part and returned 2 days later to replace. All went smoothly and dryer works great!

I was surprised how quickly he was able to get me on the schedule. I called Monday near the end of the day, & he came out Tuesday mid-day. He called in the AM to let me know when he would be here, then also gave a 30-minute phone call closer to the appointment. It didn't take long to fix the oven. He told me the problem, fixed it, then showed me the oven was working. He was prompt, friendly, & everything went smoothly.

Bad! The service came in with an arrogant, "I already know it all attitude" and promptly misread the fault codes. After I corrected him several times (the codes indicating that the first place to check is the temperature sensor in the oven), he insisted that "its always the control panels that go out in these situations and I can figure out this stuff in my sleep." So, we decided to roll with him a little bit to see what a control panel replacement would cost. He called someone who he indicated knew about Whirlpool parts and informed him that the control panel replacement was discontinued. He claimed to know someone that salvaged oven parts and he would contact him and then get back to us with a price and availability of the part. Before he left, I asked him again about following up on the fault codes and he blew my off by saying that he would replace the temperature sensor if we wanted him too (we just wanted it tested, as it would be a cheap repair compared to the cost of a full control panel (he guessed the panel would cost $280). When I asked about trying to procure a control panel through an online outlet such as Amazon or eBay, he said he would refused to install any such part. After he left our house, my wife contact Whirlpool headquarters who confirmed that they no longer supplied control panels, but provided the name of a vendor who did. She contacted the vendor and found out it was available. We called the service tech, but only got his voice mail, so we left him a message about finding an authorized outlet for the control panel if it was needed. He didn't return our call, nor call us back after we left several more messages. Frustrated, I found a diagnosis decision tree online for our oven and the displayed fault codes. The decision tree first said to check the resistance of the temperature sensor, which I did and it was right on the money. The decision tree then indicated that the next step was to check the condition of a thermofuse, and, indeed, the fuse was blown. I went to our local authorized appliance parts dealer, purchased a new fuse and - viiolá - the oven worked fine. So, besides acting like a jerk, the tech misdiagnosed our oven problem and at best would have left us with a huge bill for a repair that would have been worthless. We would like our money back for the service call, too.
Description of Work: They came to diagnose and fixing a nonworking oven, except the service tech didn't. Besides totally ignoring both the fault codes displayed on the unit and my repeated reminding him of the fault codes, he insisted that it was a main control panel failure but that control panels for our oven have been discontinued. He promised to get back to us with repair options, but never did nor did he return our phone calls. A subsequent diagnose of the problem by someone else indicated that it was only a blown thermofuse (about a $20 part).

My 2011 GE refrigerator has a broken plastic part. I described the problem on the phone and asked for an estimate, but he said he would need to see it. He scheduled an appointment for between 9 and 9:30 the next day. Showed up after 10 am. (However he did call to say he would be late.) Took pictures of the broken plastic part. Said he had never seen that part broken before. He said he would call back in an hour to give me an estimate for repair. He called back more than 3 hours later. The estimate was over $250 to replace one plastic part. The refrigerator only cost $1000 brand new, so I declined the service. He still insisted on collecting a $43 service fee for the 5 minutes he spent in my house looking at the broken refrigerator.

Response from Central Ohio Appliance Repair
In response to the above referenced complaint. Yes our technician was not inside the customers home long on the initial review of the problem. Our technician is experienced and does not need a lot of time to diagnose the situation. This is not a common part that breaks, (customer abuse is the main reason this part breaks) it is refereed to as a Door Mullion Heater assembly. Not "some little plastic piece" its retail price is $138.19. Our technician did take photos to ensure the parts supplier was looking up the correct items, which seems professional to me. With the part, service call, labor and sales tax, the total job cost was estimated at about $250.00. I'm so sorry that our technician was a little longer in getting back (yet still that same afternoon) to the customer with the estimate, but our technician contacted the customer just as soon as he had a response from our supplier. And "yes" we did collect a service call fee of $42.95. We were hired to come to the customers home to review the damage to the appliance and give an estimate for repair. It is not our fault the customer did not like the cost the factory puts on the replacement parts. Also we do not give free estimates. Advertising, Insurance, phones, operators, trucks, the technicians time putting an estimate together all cost money.

When I called on a Thursday afternoon it was answered quickly by a real person. After hearing my description he said he thought he could get someone there that day but he would have to hang up and call one of his service technicians out in the field. He called back within 10 minutes to say that his guy could be here that same day between 1 and 3. Josh got here close to 3. He lay down on the floor to access the dishwasher ?innards", poked around for a few minutes and diagnosed the problem. I thought $169 - total - for the repair was reasonable (the part cost $60) so I gave the go?ahead. He had to go back to his store to get the part but that took only about 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes later and my appliance was good as new. Josh was very friendly and informative - I'd give him a gold star. I will definitely be calling these guys back for any future appliance repair needs.

When I called I told the spokesperson that my washer was making noise and would not drain. The tech arrived and immediately began working on the washer. He said it was "done" and that the pump needed cleaning. I paid the bill and then he turned on the washer. It made the same noise it made when I originally called. He said it was the drum bearing and was not worth fixing. I paid $40 for a diagnosis. The tech said if he'd known that he would not have worked on the pump. Isn't that his job to tell me what was wrong? I guess not. I paid $80 dollars above the diagnosis cost. I was left with a bill and a washer that still would not drain. I bought a new one. I called the company to try to resolve the problem and the spokesperson would not listen to my complaint. He blamed me for the problem and yes I was angry. The spokesperson had an attitude but said he would check into it and call me back. Its been two days and he never called me back. The bill of sale said the problem was the washer would not drain. Not exactly what I said. The tech left with the washer not working but it's my fault?? Don't call this company.

The service tech, Robert, called at the beginning of the same-day time window I was quoted and said he was 25 minutes away and he showed up on time. He spent at least an hour thoroughly inspecting my washing machine and explaining what could be the cause of no spin attivation, and what he discovered. He actually did not discover anything wrong with the machine and he explained that it was probably "user error" and explained how that could happen. He was correct in what could cause no spin and I agreed that I sometimes was guilty of the "user error". I was satisfied with his explanation. Even though he spent an hour inspecting my washer, he only charged me the $39 show up fee and tax in the total amount of $42. He deserved and I gave him a $10 tip.

Not only did he not recommend fixing the piece of junk, he wouldn't even charge me for the service call even though I tried to insist. He made two trips to my home, worked on the machine twice, and charged me NOTHING! I highly recommend Central Ohio Appliance repair for honesty, integrity, professionalism and prompt service.
Description of Work: Came to the house the day after I called and evaluated my several year old (less than three) top-loading washing machine, which would fill then do nothing else. Determined what part was needed, ordered the part, and returned two days later to install it. After installing the part and testing the machine, he determined there were two additional critical failures that had occurred. Considering the significant cost that would have been involved to fix the machine, he removed the new part, called me and told me it wasn't worth the cost of fixing the machine.

I was called back immediately when I contacted this provider on Angie's list. Robert called ahead and arrived when he said he would. After looking over the appliance, explained what he thought the problems might be and worked on them. He fixed the problem at the bottom of the freezer that was causing ice and eventually water to leak out and under the refrigerator. He said to please call if there are any problems. Robert was knowledgeable and efficient. I will call Central Ohio Appliance Repair again!

Central Ohio Appliance Repair was the 4th company that I called and the only ones who could come out and look at my refrigerator the same day. All others had a 5-7 day wait which does not work in August! Our service technician, John, was on time and very curtious. He got right on the job and found the problem right away. He explained to us how much the repair would cost and got right on it once we gave him approval. He was in and out in about an hour. Now that is service!!! The service technician actually LISTENED to my description of the problem! Not only that, he LISTENED to what I had already done (I had turned off the waterline to the ice maker), my description of the results I'd had, and my description of on-going issues. He asked me several pertinent questions (NO jargon). Because I understood his questions, I was able to answer them, quickly ruling out the defroster. Fixing the problem required moving the refrigerator (no easy task), and sure enough, there was a break in the waterline. It was a quick fix. The technician was extremely courteous and respectful. I would certainly call this company again.

Did a load of laundry this morning. When I went back to put the laundry in the dryer, there was water on the floor. The clothes in the washing machine were still wet. Went to Angie's List and decided to call Central Ohio Appliance Repair. The person who answered the phone said someone would probably be out this morning. The repairman soon arrived and determined the drain hose had a leak. He didn't have the hose on his truck, but said he would get one and return. About two hours later he returned and quickly replaced the hose. The repairman was polite and carefully explained what he was doing. I was very please with the service.

I called 3 appliance repair companies on 7/7/14. Central Ohio Appliance was the first to return my call. They said they could come out on 7/9. I requested AM and they said fine. I was told my technician was Josh & he would call me the night before or first thing in AM to give me more approximate time. Nobody ever called. Nobody came to my house. The company never followed up with me in any way. I guess their business is just so successful they don't need any new customers. I would stay away if you actually would like to have your appliance serviced.
