Description of Work: He rekeyed the locks on the house that I purchased. When there were problems with one of the locks, he explained clearly to me what I should do to get that fixed through the manufacturer. The locksmith was friendly and knowledgeable.

Description of Work: I took apart an old Mortise Lock and brought it in for repair. The people at Carl Zipf identified that the lock itself wasn't the problem and that I only needed to have the lock rekeyed. Their honesty easily saved me $70-100. Very prompt service and very helpful. I definitely recommend.

Description of Work: Had a couple of keys made. One key was unique and a difficult match. The technician warned me that the key may not fit the specific lock (motorcycle) because it was unusual and was not available to test. Had the motorcycle been availble to test, they were willing to not charge if the key did not work. Under these circumstances, I was very pleased with their patience and efforts.

MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT, IN ADDITION TO INSTALLING AND REPAIRING THE DOOR LOCKS, I ALSO ASKED THEM TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO LOCK MY WINDOWS TO PREVENT MY SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD FROM CLIMBING OUT (AS HE ALREADY HAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS). THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO GET BACK TO ME WITH SUGGESTIONS, BUT I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM.

 + -1 moreCARL ZIPF LOCK SHOP OF 161 E. 5TH AVE. IS A FULL SERVICE LOCK SHOP. THEY SELL ALL KINDS OF LOCKS, PARTS, ETC. AND WILL INSTALL OR REPAIR THEM FOR YOU (INCLUDING AUTOMOBILE LOCKS) OR WILL HELP YOU TO FIX IT YOURSELF. I'VE USED THEM FOR YEARS BUT JUST TODAY I HAD WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A RATHER EXPENSIVE AND DIFFICULT PROBLEM: REPLACEMENT OF ALL THE LOCK CYLINDERS OF MY HOUSE. ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES KINDLY SHOWED ME HOW TO REPAIR THE ONE BAD CYLINDER (I WANTED ALL 4 KEYS TO MATCH), SCROUNGED THE REPLACEMENT PART I NEEDED FOR $1.07 (INCLUDING TAX), AND SENT ME ON MY WAY WITH A SMILE. BY THE WAY, THERE IS ALSO AN EDWARD ZIPF LOCKSHOP ON OHIO AVE. THE FOUNDER WAS RELATED SOME GENERATIONS AGO TO CARL ZIPF BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME SHOP.
Description of Work: OBTAINED A REPLACEMENT PARK FOR A LOCK CYLINDER FOR ME. SHOWED ME HOW TO INSTALL IT SO I COULD FIX MY LOCK BY MYSELF. TOTAL COST: $1.07 INCLUDING TAX!!!
