We had a broken glass door at a commercial building due to vandalism. Capital City Glass came out and measured for size of glass needed then special ordered glass which took about a week to come in. Once glass came in the glass was installed quickly and professionally. I would use and recommend Capital City Glass.
Description of Work: We have used Capital City Glass multiple times for our business over several years to repair or replace our plate glass windows. Every time we have used Capital City Glass we have received "A" level workmanship. I recommend Capital City Glass

We were thrilled with Capitol Glass. Another company I had contacted acted too busy to take the work and gave me a ballpark quote that was more than TWICE what Capitol charged. David in the office and John, the Installation Technician were both prompt, pleasant, and knowledgeable. John was willing to go above and beyond in dealing with that old mirror, had we chosen to go that route. He also advised me how to change out the fasteners on our new mirrors if I decided later that I wanted brass/goldtone (I was being wishy washy about which finishes I liked better with the mirrors since the silver looked good - nearly blending in completely - with the mirrors, but all the hardware in the bath is brass) and left me with an extra fastener to compare/measure against if I went to the hardware store. We really appreciate these little kindnesses. I also really appreciate that John made our job a priority even though it was relatively small. I would happily recommend them.
Description of Work: John of Capitol City Glass came out and measured for two new mirrors for our remodeled master bath. We had saved the old mirror and asked about having it cut down to save some money but John advised that with the deteriorating quality of the finish and edges, and the fact that he couldn't guarantee that it would cut well, so he'd hate to see us put up something sub par in our beautiful new space and be unhappy about it. We gave it some thought and agreed with John's wise counsel. So John custom cut and installed two beautiful new mirrors.

I sent an email via their website early in the morning asking about an estimate. I heard back from them shortly thereafter on the same day. I called them to discuss a few more details and they told me they could have the piece ready within a few hours. I was thrilled to get the piece so fast. They were prompt, courteous and professional. I rated a "B" in quality only because the glass was very dirty (which I was not expecting) so I did have to spend some time cleaning it before I could use it. And I also rated a "B" because my husband had to wait a little bit when he picked it up, despite being told it would be ready at a certain time. But overall they were very helpful, fast and the piece is perfect.

From the first phone call asking about their services up through and including the actual work, they were total professionals. They were clear about what the costs would be and timely with the service which was both friendly and high quality work performed by John.

They did a good job. They cut the glass slightly larger than I needed but it was okay. They wrapped the glass for me to transport. I would use them again. They were courteous and had the stuff ready for me when I needed it. I thought they did a great job. I thought their prices were better than anywhere else I called.

Called and spoke to Mark to set up appointment two days prior. Said they would be out on Thursday at 10am 12p comes still no service tech. Called at 12:15p to ask where they were. Individual Mark had no idea about the appointment (very disorganized)- said he would contact the rep and call me back. Waited over an hour and then called back... I think a different turd answered this call. The guy that answered sounded p***** off to begin with - very unprofessional- think this must have been the owner due to his arrogance. He was very short and tried to give me the same run-around saying he needed to try to contact his rep. I said that this would not work as my client had been waiting for over 3 hours now. I asked if this was Mark, he said no, Mike? ...no. He would not give his name. AYKM? Really? I said this was unacceptable and that we were on a tight timeline to have this issue repaired. He immediately interrupted me by saying and quot;then we'll just cancel your job then!and quot; and hung up on me. Nice! Talk about a bad case of buyer beware!!! Don't ever hire someone that thinks they are doing you a favor. Hire someone that actually WANTS to do the work AND then that is ABLE to do a good job. Based on the other reviews I'd say this place is a sinking ship - do yourselves a favor and don't hop on board!

Awful....no full up from them. Contacted them three times!
Description of Work: Called Capital City Glass on April 9, 2012 to replace a broken window at one of our rental properties. Capital City said they would contact our renter the next business day to set an appointment to review the window and provide a quote to us. They never showed up or contacted our renter. We called Capital City Glass a second time on April 19, 2012 and set up another appointment for the next day to review the window and again no one contacted our renter from Capital Glass and no one showed up. Called Capital City Glass a third time on April 23, 2012 and apologized saying they definitely contact our renter and review the broken window on April 24, 2012. Just got word this morning, April 26, 2012 from our renter she hasn't heard a thing from Capital City Glass. Called a competitor. Given up on Capital City Glass. 3 weeks with broken glass at our rental home is dangerous for OUR company!

They miscut the glass twice. They were very apologetic and gave me a discount, but they miscut it TWICE and not by an 1/8 of an inch or anything small but by a full inch the first time and at least 2 inches the second time. Also, I kept having to go out to their place to return the old pieces and pick up the new ones. They were very nice and the price was fine, but come on!

We paid them up front, and they said they would have our window ready on 7/14, but when we came to pick it up, they told us the glass broke in the furnace and to come back on 7/17. They then told us it wasn't ready on that day, so they told us to come back 7/20. I checked back yesterday and was ready to pick it up and it still was not ready. I only went there because a hardware store recommended them, and it has taken so long that I wish I had gone somewhere else. It took 9 days longer than they intially stated for us to get the glass back.

A glass pane in the back door shattered when we closed it. I called Capitol City, gave them the approximate size and received an estimate over the phone. I called back with the glass dimensions. They cut the glass and brought it out and installed it. The ENTIRE process took less than one hour, from first phone call to finished job! and, for the quoted price. I will use them again.

I called on a Monday, the appointment was for Tuesday morning. The man arrived promptly, assessed the work, gave me a price and said he would return with the pane after making a few more stops. He returned in 1 1/2 hour with the newly cut pane and replaced the glass. The installer was pleasant, courteous, and efficient. He also turned out to live in the neighborhood.

Many of the people came out and said they wouldn't do the work because it would be more expensive than replacing door, but Capital City said that they could do it with no problem, and do it quickly. They came out and first off, had a problem getting the glass out that had shattered. We did know in advance that getting the glass out may leave a dent. However, when they did get the glass out, they swept with a hand broom and dustpan, but didn't vacuum or anything else, so small pieces were still in the carpet. Then, when they put the window in, he started with white caulk, but didn't have enough, so he finished it with clear caulk, and it looked like a child had done it. We called them to come fix it and they were willing to do that, but it still looks rough. I don't think there is anything they can do to fix it. I was just not pleased. I would not use them again.

The installer was prompt (showed up 15 minutes before the agreed time; a really good thing since I stayed home from work to have work done). He took the time to explain how, given how the window was glued together, that the finished appearance may not be up to my standards (as in you wouldn't know it had been repaired). I understood this and appreciated that he was trying to manage my expectations. As it ended up, a trim piece did break but he was able to glue it in and the finished appearance was fair-to-good, which was fine to me, given the age and condition of the window. He used a slightly thicker piece of glass which I happen to prefer, since it will be less likely to be broken again by my son or his friends! He was finished in 35-40 minutes; a fraction of the time it would have taken me, with much less damage.

When I called other places, I was shocked at the costs quoted and the amount of time (2-3 days) it would take to cut two glass rectangles. Capital City's quote was far less than the others and they offered to do it while I wait (maybe 30 minutes). When I went in and gave them my specs, I had my glass pieces finished and wrapped up within 15 minutes. The cost even came in a bit below the quote. When we later discovered that we had given them an incorrect spec for one piece, I returned and got it re-cut in a few minutes for $5.

John was very honest and capable and I would call him any time we have glass or window work to be done. And the price was great compared to what we thought it would be.
Description of Work: John came to give an estimate. I immediately knew John was someone who knew his work and could do it well. He exudes confidence and is very professional. He measured the windows, gave us an estimate, told us when he'd be back with the glass, returned when he said he would, and quietly and neatly replaced all the glass in many windows where the seals were broken. This saved us so much money so we didn't have to replace the whole window. He also told me where to get the window "handles" that lift the window and how to put them in with one screw. I was more than pleased with the work John did and with John himself.

My business was broken into at 5am on a Sunday. Capitol City came out very quickly and replaced the glass in the front door that had been shattered. The door was fixed by 10am. I was very impressed. Michael was very nice and professional. He took care to contain the broken glass and cleaned up when he was done. It was comforting to have such good work done when we had just experienced such a negative event.

I was told on the phone that I could just come in with the measurements and it would be cut while I waited. They did cut the piece and smoothed the edges before helping me load it in my van. When I got home I realized I had told them the wrong measurements. Duh! On the phone they instructed me to return the piece, they had cut and they would charge me half price for a 2nd one. I thought this was fair since the mistake was mine. Again they cut the glass, polished the edges and helped me load it in my van.
