Description of Work: They came out to repair my a/c unit. They replaced the compressor in the unit. They sent a repair man with a brand new compressor. He spent 5 hours installing it. When we turned it on it blew up and caught fire. They are expecting me to pay this bill in spite of what happened.

Response from Buckeye Heating & Cooling
The member approved Buckeye to replace her compressor for a total of $2,133 vs. buying a new air conditioner. With any repair, there is a element of risk. The compressor was not under warranty, therefore Buckeye needed to buy the compressor from the manufacturer. When we replaced the compressor, it ran for about 30 minutes. At the 30 minute mark, the compressor locked up again. At this point we have 2 options. (1) We could install another compressor at no additional charge. (2) We can install a new air conditioner. We explained to the member that if we installed another compressor, it would most likely only last 30 minutes again. Whatever wiped out the original compressor wiped out the 2nd compressor. We agreed to reduce the repair bill down to $1,000 if the member purchased the new air conditioner. The $1,000 would cover most of our expenses for the compressor replacement. We incurred the cost of the compressor, filter dryers, refrigerant, and labor. We felt this was a fair compromise. Instead, the member decided to purchase a new air conditioner from another company and not pay us anything for the repair she authorized. I will still agree to settle this matter for the $1,000 that covers our expenses vs. the full amount of $2,133. We did leave the AC unit open to the element as the customer states. There is no reason to spend the time and money to close up an AC unit that needs replaced. We really felt like we would be back the next day to replace the AC unit. I understand that customers are upset when repairs do not work. That does happen from time to time. Equipment gets to a point where they simply cannot be fixed. Fixing equipment is a little bit of a gamble on the homeowners part. Replacing equipment eliminates the gamble. Brad Wentz President

Description of Work: My hot water heater intake pipe sprang a leak. Buckeye came and repaired the plumbing, as well as provided estimates on cost and installation of a new hot water tank. The plumbers were very professional and helpful; they took the time to answer all my questions.
