The quote included a media filter and humidifier at additional cost, and a programmable thermostat and replacement filter for the first change at no extra cost. The salesman was particularly helpful in educating me on the differences between high efficiency and regular furnaces, including a couple of adjustments (1) Horizontal venting out the side of the house instead of up the chimney and (2) Replacing the return air duct running alongside the furnace to match the width of the unit for maximum airflow) that were included in the quote at no additional cost. I used this information to confirm with the company I ultimately selected that they would do these things as well. This company provided my best quote by a slim margin (less than 1%). I actually ended up picking the other company based on my math error in applying additional costs for the media filter and humidifier and the Angie's List discount.
Description of Work: I received an estimate for purchasing a high efficiency, two-stage, variable speed furnace for my 1920s two-story home.

David, the repairman, was insulting from the start. First he found an electrostatic, charcoal infused/hepa air filter, and insisted that was the source of the problem. I explained that THE FILTER WAS NOT CAUSING THE CLANGING FAN SOUND, and was not dirty, but was supposed to be black for odor control. He then said rudely, "Fine, then what do I know--apparently you, Miss, are the expert!" I tried to redirect the repairman to the clanging fan--David said it "was a complete unit, and needed to be exchanged out for a new one, and he could fix it for $600." When asked to just make a quick adjustment to the fan blade, he refused, stating "there's no way to get in there-buy a new unit." We refused, knowing this was fishy. My husband later came home, and although not schooled in furnace repair, was able to adjust the fan blade and stop the clanging in 20 minutes. We filed a complaint with the manager, Diane, at Buckeye Heating, but she never returned our calls. We want our $65 back.
Description of Work: We called for a repair of our furnace as there was a loud clanging noise that occurred every time the furnace started up. It sounded like a fan blade was hitting the sheet metal, and we directly asked the repairman to come out and make an adjustment. David, the repairman, was rude and surly, tried blaming other incidental causes, and refused to fix the fan blade, insisting we needed to purchase a $600 exhaust motor unit, which we did not purchase.

A SCREW THAT HOLDS THE INDUCER MOTOR TOGETHER WAS THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE. THE INDUCER MOTOR ASSEMBLY HAD CRACKED AND THE SCREW WAS NOT GOING TO SECURE THE INDUCER MOTOR THE WAY THE MANUFACTURE REQUIRES. THEREFORE THE FAN BLADE WAS MAKING A NOISE. THE CUSTOMER WANTED US THE BAND AIDE THE PROBLEM. THEY WANTED DAVID TO CREATE A NEW SCREW HOLE THAT WOULD HOLD THE INDUCER MOTOR TOGETHER. BUCKEYE IS LIABLE FOR OUR WORKMANSHIP. BUCKEYE WILL NEVER SACRIFICE QUALITY TO BAND AIDE A PROBLEM. IF THE CUSTOMER DECIDES TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND TAKE THE RISK, THAT IS THEIR CHOICE. BUCKEYE'S PROFESSIONAL OPINION IS THAT THE MOTOR SHOULD BE REPLACED. DAVID ADMITTED THAT THE TENSION BETWEEN BOTH PARTIES WAS THERE. HE STATES THAT THE TENSION STARTED WHEN THE CUSTOMER CONTINUED TO QUESTION HIS ABILITY AND DIAGNOSIS. DAVID HAS BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY OVER 10 YEARS AND IS PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF SERVICING THE EQUIPMENT. BUCKEYE SERVICE TECHNICIANS ARE NOT COMPENSATED FOR REPLACING PARTS. DAVID HAS NO FINANCIAL GAIN WITH RECOMMENDING THAT A PART BE REPLACED. DAVID HAS BEEN TRAINED TO MAKE THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS AND MAKE THE APPROPRIATE RECOMMENDATIONS.

Buckeye was able to work with my schedule - was available for and willing to schedule a routine maintenance call on New Years Eve. Arrived on time, everything checked out in good working condition - I appreciated the little extras mentioned above. Would absolutely call them again in the future.
Description of Work: I scheduled with Buckeye Heating and Cooling for routine maintenance on our furnace. In addition to servicing the furnace, he changed the humidifier filter since I had a spare and gave me some good advice on furnace filters and replacement of a CO detector for which the battery had died.

I could easily have accepted information that they do not serve oil furnaces. I was very disappointed with the constant delay, with promises to call, and later no follow through with even a phone message. I value honesty and reliability, and experienced nothing of that from Buckeye Heating and Cooling.
Description of Work: Rich, a serviceman came out to service our Furnace, as a start of a service contract. He was surprised to find an oil furnace. (I had stressed to Amy in the office, that we had an oil furnace). He checked the furnace, and told that he needed some equipment he did not have on the truck. The office would call me to set up a new appointment. That was the last I heard from the company, except that Trane mailed me information on a heat pump. I called Buckeye several times, and they never called back. The last person we talked to was Randy (10.17.2007), who told he would call me back in 5 minutes. After another week of waiting we called Favret Heating and Cooling, and they really deserve all Kudos you have.

The office was very friendly and prompt to schedule and answer questions. The HVAC tech came out to the condo to maintain the heater and look at a problem on the A/C unit. He refused to check the A/C because it was on the roof (two-story unit) of the condo complex. He said it was too steep a roof to climb. When I called for service, I did mention that the A/C unit is on the roof and the tech needs to bring a big ladder. He checked and maintained the heating unit, which was located in the condo itself. I called Buckeye and spoke to the billing rep and asked for a maintenance contract on the heating unit only. This is $60 from what I was told when I called initially. I had the home warranty service fix the A/C unit. I told her I would call back (Brenda Platt, I believe) and let her know what I found out about how the a/c was fixed. I called back but have not heard back from her in regards to adjusting the maintenance contract fee and a refund of $19.00.
Description of Work: I purchased a maintenance contract for a rental condo that I own. The contract was to cover A/C and heating for $120 per year (Angie's List discount).

We had a great experience. We met with several companies and felt confident choosing Buckeye. Pete immediately returned my call and came out to do an estimate. We scheduled the work to be done within a week. The two gentlemen that installed the system were nice and professional. We had several companies recommend several different systems. I felt that Pete really picked the best system for our house. He also gave us the best price.

Horrible. The service technicians did not show up within the schedule appointment window on 2 separate occasions. After the first missed appointment, I complained to their service manager and was promised better service and a timely arrival for the rescheduled service appointment. Unfortunately that was not the case, as the service technician did not arrive on time AGAIN. This company treats their clients unprofessionally and do not place any value on their clients time or patience.

I called them on the phone to ask for pricing. The sale manager, Pete, gave me a rough quote. I called back to set up an appointment for him to come out. He came and gave me a written quote. I decided to go with them. I had to wait a couple of days for actual installation. They sent out a 2 technicians to install the air conditioner. The installation took an afternoon. Everything went smoothly. I am satisfy.

Instead of $3500 for a new unit, we paid $75 for his service! We were thrilled with the timeliness (given the heat!) and his expertise. We will definitely use them in the future!
Description of Work: On July 4th, our air conditioner went out and we could not get it to turn back on after several attempts. We called Buckeye that evening. They returned our call promptly and had someone out the next morning. We figured the unit had finally died, but the technician was thorough and found that a large pincher bug had actually gotten into the electrical system of the unit and was causing the issue. He removed it and performed a check on the unit.

When using my air conditioning, I was experiencing water or condensate leaking hear the heat exchanger by the blower (in my basement). The Buckeye H&C person identified the problem, which was a clogged drainage tube (specifically, it was clogged within the trap in the tubing leading to the floor drain). We then did a contract and he replaced the PVC pipe trap. I do think that $193 was very expensive for the amount of work and materials. If I could do it again, I would have stopped after he identified the problem and actually fixed the problem myself.
Description of Work: The Buckeye H&C person identified why I had water leaking from my basement unit and he replaced a PVC pipe trap.

We called and someone walked us through the steps on the phone to see if we could self-remedy the problem by shutting down the system and checking a few simple things. It was such a nice gesture and we appreciated their attempts to save us a service call, even though we were completely new customers. A few weeks later, when we were convinced something was really wrong, we called back and they quickly worked us in. David came and was courteous. He always wore slippers in the house and repeatedly put them on when he went in and out. He added coolant to our system after explaining all options.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner wasn't producing cold air. They added 2 lbs of coolant to our system.
