We called our home warranty insurer when our A/C began leaking water. The repairman from the company they sent out determined it was a hole in the pan that catches water, but the home warranty would not cover this (boo!). The repairman estimated the repair at $400+. We were able to schedule Buckeye Heating & Cooling within a couple days to come out, and they found us the part and returned to do the work the very next morning. We were impressed that they found the part we needed so quickly (for a 30+ year old air-conditioner, no less!). We were more impressed, however, that they did the job--including both materials and labor--for $145. That's $255 less than the company our home warranty sent out estimated and who, luckily, we did not do business with. Brian, the technician, was very nice, polite, and respectful of our home, our dog, and my time. The woman in the office who scheduled our appointment and called to let us know how much the repair would cost was both friendly and helpful. I would use Buckeye Heating & Cooling again in a heartbeat, having had two experiences with them as an honest, fair, and component company.

We will keep the phone number for Buckeye Heating & Cooling for any repairs we need in the future. We wanted a vent added to the upstairs bathroom in our new house. Scott, the technician, was well qualified and ready to tackle the job, but because it was especially tricky due to a steel beam in the way in the basement, he called out a colleague with 35+ years experience to talk the job over. They made it work, and even though this meant the job took longer and harder than was originally thought, their estimate did not change--I still paid the price of what should have been an "easy" job. Scott was friendly and I felt very comfortable having him in my home. I would definitely recommend Buckeye Heating & Cooling!

After we had our work completed a neighbor put in a new furnace, another contacted them for service, and at least two other people in the neighborhood started to use Buckeye Heating and Cooling!!! I guess people appreciate our research!!
Description of Work: We purchased a new furnace and air conditioner two years ago. The cost was competitive. We also purchased a service contract. Shortly after the air conditioner was installed we had a problem and the company was out immediately and took care of the problem under warranty. Any other issues were taken care of to our satisfaction. * maintance agreement

In my opinion, it went poorly. Even though they were able to get the AC working for about a day, and even though they came back within 2 days after a warranty part failed again, the problem is not fixed and it cost me much more than it should have on a new $5000 unit still under warranty. I have no idea what they will attempt to charge me when they come back with hopefully the right part to replace a part under warranty. Both techs strongly suggested several times to purchase their service agreement. I truly was considering this and switching from my other service company, since they installed the new system. However, based on this initial problem and their lack of professionalism I would expect from a company with a long history in this area, I can't feel good about signing an agreement to have them as my HVAC service partner. Even though I used them to install the system and gave them a very good Angie's List rating in summer 2008, their service team has left me worried as a customer. Their sales and installation teams were professional and responsive. Too many "misses" on this first initial problem by the service team on a renowned brand, well within its warranty period. I have repeatedly been advised by several HVAC companies that systems should be cleaned and serviced "at least every other year" - but I have chosen to do them annually. To all other HVAC companies, this frequency is more than adequate. Buckeye has not earned my continued business or referrals to anyone else - in fact, so far the opposite. I do not currently recommend their service which may be important to those considering using the same company to service their system if they are considering purchasing and having Buckeye Heating and Cooling install it.
Description of Work: Called Buckeye to advise my outside AC unit on the Lennox HVAC system just installed in late Jun 2008 was not working. System is less than 2 yrs old so still under 5 year warranty. Two technicians arrived next day and advised outside system needed cleaned as it was causing the temperature switch to shut down system. One tech said it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in several years. I advised the system was not even 2 years old. I have used a different HVAC company for a decade to perform annual service to my two systems on this and another address. That company checked the new Lennox in early summer 2009 - since system was not even a year old and did not need cleaned when they checked it out, they advised it would not warrant paying for a cleaning. This year, the system failed, or a switch within it failed, before my annual HVAC service call in June. Buckeye cleaned system when they came to check out the problem, charged me $190 which I disputed as being excessive. But, since I called initially with a "no cool" problem I had to pay an extra service fee. I thought that was ironic since the system was not cooling very early within its warranty period. Next morning, the outside unit again is failing to come on when inside unit is running. Called Buckeye, they scheduled service call two days later to "replace the switch" which was stated by the person answering the phone. My question: if this switch failed why wasn't it replaced two days earlier when techs were there? Tech arrived, but did not have switch. He called his office to have the switch brought out, but they brought the wrong one. He asked my permission to "bypass the switch" so the unit would not keep kicking itself off until he could get the right switch and bring it out to install it. He advised "you won't be charged for today" which I wasn't expecting anyway. It was a warranty part, and they were out two days earlier and had already overcharged me for a routine annual cleaning and reset (i.e., checked the same part). I agreed I shouldn't be charged for a part replacement that failed within its warranty period and he again stated, "the system was pretty dirty and that caused it to fail. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for several years." I wasn't amused and reminded him the system was not even 2 years old.

Response from Buckeye Heating & Cooling
This air conditioner has been running for 2 years without service. I find it amazing that an HVAC service company would tell her the unit does not need to be cleaned. This is a 100% false statement especially with the new R410A units. If the unit had been properly service by her other HVAC company, there would have never been a service call on this unit. This customer should be upset with her service company and not Buckeye Heating & Cooling. Buckeye can not take the blame for another companies poor workmanship. The outdoor coil was completely plugged causing the unit to trip the high pressure switch. These switches can reset; however, after a number of times tripping, the switch can and will fail. I feel this is a very unfair report on our company and I would encourage you to read all the other wonderful reviews. Thanks you Brad Wentz President

I had five estimates completed. Buckeye's salesman seemed informed about the product and the "service" side of things concerning installation. Three of the companies gave me quotes on the same products (Lennox) and Buckey H & C was the cheapest but also the most professional on the day they came to give me the estimate. One of things that made them the least expensive was they were running a promotion for a 10-year free labor warranty (which was something that was a priority to me). Additionally, they offer the first year of service calls (two calls) free. Their installers were experienced and through conversations I learned at least one of them had been in the industry for 15 years. They were personable and made sure I felt comfortable which each unit before they left. The electrician had to do some minor updates to the electrical system as well and there was no extra charge for this. I would use this company again. ISSUES: Buckeye didn't follow through with two things that were necessary to complete the job. The lack of follow-through was regarding confirming my warranty and putting a vent cover on the vents on the side of my house. The most frustrating part of this situation was the fact that I emailed them multiple times (four times) over the span of four months because they didn't resolve the issues. They 'dropped the ball' on multiple occasions which surprised me because during the estimate and installation process they were responsive and professional. I was certainly disappointed in the lack of follow-through and poor response to my requests to resolve the issues via email.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Brad, Shawn, and the rest of Buckeye H & C. From their estimates through the final installation, they were professional, fair, prompt, and thorough. I actually had just intended to replace my hot water heater; but, I was so impressed by their customer service and knowledge, I decided to inquire about replacing my old HVAC with a new high efficiency system. After their estimate, which was described to me on-site with detail and with no-pressure options, we fairly negotiated a final proposal that involved replacing all three of my old, inefficient mechanicals with excellent high-efficiency Lennox HVAC and a high-efficiency AO Smith water heater. The complete installation was scheduled within one-week and took only one day (< 8hrs) for all mechanicals to be replaced. This included removing my old mechanical systems for recycling and cleaning the work area. In fact, my wife didn't even see them take a break for lunch! Excellent, excellent customer service and willingness to go the extra mile. There is a great deal of competition in Columbus HVAC and a number of excellent alternatives. But, if you desire low-stress customer service that genuinely cares about you as a customer, look no further than Buckey H & C; you will not be disappointed (even if you were, I am confident Brad would do everything in his power to rectify the situation). Highly recommend!

They were on time, completed the job in less than a day and the cleanup was great. If I were not home to see it, I would not even know they were there at all. The techs did a very neat and professional job on the install. Everything was replaced. Nothing was left to chance. They even had a supervisor come to the site to double check all the work Looking forward to a nice cool, trouble free Summer. Special thanks to Brad for explaining everything that was going to be done on this job. Nice work guys, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Brad Wentz gave us a very complete and thoughtful presentation, and offered us several alternatives and furnace/air combos that wouldl be suitable for our 900 sq ft house, and that would qualify us for the tax credit. Brad obviously put a lot of care and thought into his presentation, and was patient with our questions. He was a complete pro, and his hand-outs and price lists (which he left with us) were easy to understand. There was no pressure at any time, no incentives to sign up right now, no running down of the competition, etc. Obviously Mr. Wentz doesn't need to do any of that. The installers arrived on time and did a splendid job. They were cheerful, courteous, and thorough. An electrician was part of the team. The old furnace and the old air compressor were removed (including the pad under the outside unit).

My thermocoupler went out in my water heater and once i started doing research I found out that the problem was common. I went to Lowes to find the part I needed and found a universal thermocoupler that fit everything except the specific heater I needed, so I tried multiple people and places and I even ordered the part online, when I received it I installed the part and it didnt work I then noticed they had sent the wrong part. I went to all the heating places I could find to see if anyone had the part as i didnt want to pay for overnight shipping and 3 days without hot water wasnt an option. When I went to Buckeye Heating and Cooling, when I told them the problem I was having, they knew the specific heater and part without even saying the brand. Not only did they have them in stock they just gave it to me and told me I could have it at no charge since it was a recalled part on the heater. Not only that they gave me a ccard and told me if I had any questions about instalation just to give them a call and they would help any way they could. I thought this was the best service I have ever received and I didnt even spend a dime.
