Black Tie Moving

Scam. DO NOT use this company. We had a move where a Black Tie employee left the job site early (unknown to us until after the fact) and stole $40,000 worth of a private collection we had in a box that he watch use box up. On top of this we had several items missing and damaged where we had to throw the furniture away. Expensive items. We paid over $10,000 in moves with them and have yet to be reimbursed anything, even the damaged items. We’ve had to go to lengths of getting police involved. I read reviews where employees show up high which is the same experience we had. They don’t care about your items and use the sponsored Google as a way to get you to trust them. Read other sites that aren’t paid sites. Use anyone but Black Tie.

BEWARE of Black Tie Moving!!!! They dropped our $4,700 refrigerator down the stairs, damaged walls, and got mud all over our brand new carpet. They promised to replace our Refrigerator but after we paid the $1,000 moving bill their tone changed and only gave us $200 for our refrigerator that needs to be completely replaced. They were recommended to us by our realtor but they DO NOT care about doing the right thing for their customers so we will never use them again! They are the most expensive movers in town so we expected better service.

Well, short review first, Pros: professional, punctual and not expensive Cons: understaff and WILL NEVER COME TO REPAIR THEIR DAMADGES I have full condo heavy furniture and so I asked for home estimate. Chris came immediately and I told him that everything will be moved so I need 6 men. On the moving day, only 5 men came and about half of the time, they started to cry from the heavy furniture (my furniture from Haverty) so they called Kevin, their his that came immediately and brought other guy. If course, they couldn't finish the job and they had to come the other day with 3 men. This is company is good but don't expect that they will repair anything. I texted and emailed Kevin the pictures of the damages and no RESPONSE. I tipped these guys 600$ because I felt they did their job but the company is the problem. They want to use the least number of men to have the job done and DON'T COME TO FIX THE DAMADGES.

By far the worst moving experience we have had. Since the rate is by the hour, the movers love to take their time. We had a crew of three men, and it took 4 and a half hours to move a two bedroom townhouse and the second bedroom only contained a crib (which we disassembled) and a dresser for them to move. We also ensured all furniture was disassembled and ready to go for them and it still took over four hours. I received a call the day before the move where I expressed a concern, and Kevin decided to hang up on me mid sentence. During the move, there were numerous times where the crew was standing out by the truck for 10-15 minutes at a time just talking and hanging out. We said something to the crew, nicely, since we had to pay by the hour, and one crew member decided to get rude with us and he got in my significant others face. They then tried to charge us for the time it took them to take him back to the office because we did not want him in our home after he did that. Not to mention they wrapped the couch “incorrectly” and one guy spent 30 minutes unwrapping and rewrapping it while the other two stood there and did not move a single thing. They also broke the bottom corner off of my pantry cabinet and advised me to “just glue it back on.” After moving an item in, they also like to take 5 minutes in their truck folding the moving blanket before continuing to bring your furniture in. Oh, and they also charge an arm and a leg for “packing materials” used to wrap your furniture when it’s stated that there are no hidden fees but they never tell you about the packing material fee when you book. This was all around a horrible experience.

all of the representatives from the moving company from the first call until they completed the moves were very professional, careful and seemed to enjoy their jobs. i would highly recommend Black Tie Movers out of Columbus and would suggest anyone needing to move give them a call.

Chris and his staff were fantastic. This is the second I've used Black Tie and in both cases our experience has been great. The movers were polite, on time and fast. Would definitely use them again.

This move did not go well from the very beginning. The estimate was done several months before the move actually took place and I asked the rep to come back out to review the job to make sure he had enough people to do the job properly. He said that wouldn't be necessary but I had him add an additional person. Even without the extra person, there weren't enough people to do the job properly. The issues: 1. Not enough people to do the job. 2. Crew was not careful and even after being told to treat the items more gently. 3. Rain storm hit in the middle of the move and the trucks doors were open. Many items in the truck got very wet. Crew did nothing to close up the trucks to prevent the water from getting in the trucks. 4. Once we got to the new house, the crew did things that I told them directly not to do like using a dolly on wooden stairs. Bottom Line: 1. Several items were damaged including our new bedroom furniture. A drawer was broken and large chips were taken out of the frames of several pieces. 2. An office chair was broken as a result of one of movers improperly disassembling it. 3. An office desk was also damaged. 4. Filing cabinet has handled so roughly that two of the locking mechanisms were destroyed. 5. A very valuable piece of jewelry disappeared from a night stand during the move. When I notified the rep from Black Tie when it was noticed I was told that they weren't responsible and that their crew couldn't have stolen or lost it. Essentially, I was told that we had lost it not them. After reporting the damage, I got the run-around from the "damage" representative. Didn't show up for an appointment. I was told that they would fix things and then after 2 weeks, they offered a cash settlement. When I called back to tell them about more damage that had been discovered, they refused to pay anything additional. This company may be owned in part by a celebrity and they promised "Black Tie" service, our experience was very poor. I am very sorry that I listened to the recommendation that I was given. I used a different moving company two weeks later to move an additional family member into the house and had no issues. Much cheaper as well!
